Hopefully this post is appropriate for this location and forum. I'm debating quitting a lab tech position for a scientist position at a new company. They want to put me on a probationary period for 6 months, and I guess I'm ok with that, but it makes me wonder: Is it common to hire people to help establish a lab, only to let them go when they are through getting it established (procedures, etc.)? I'm just nervous quitting an established lab job for one just starting. I'm still new to science obviously, just wanted an opinion from people with relevant experience. My field is molecular biology if that matters.

It kind of reminds me of bodybuilding forums, the losing fat section, people come in with ideas of fat loss and how they think things are when it comes to weight loss. People usually are told to read the stickies or to simply go on a calorie deficit diet, all diets work by making you eat less than the amount of calories you burn. So with here people come in with ideas of science and how it works but people are usually told how to do stuff properly with common science methods etc... maybe that is one reason why these forums isn't as popular as other because people can't express their ideas without being corrected. From the untrained layman to the skilled mathematician. With how powerful the brain is , why can't it do what a super computer calculator can do? I remember watching 60 minutes and it showed this idiot savant who was born with the gift of doing large sums in his head and even counting pi decimal values to over 1000+ correct places. It made me wonder if maybe little configurations to the brain would allow it to do other things like do large sums in head and tasks people currently find hard. I have come up with an idea. Without going into too much detail the idea is to rent products in your area. I would create a mobile app. People would rent the product. Each transaction I would make money off of. The problem I am having is how would I confirm the transaction went through and confirm the product was returned?
