Discussion of science topics that don't fit under any other category.

I read that a good software engineer automates what they want not to do - and they want not to do most things. I stopped in to ask a question, and then I posted some more. I had an imagination you might respond different than I know of you: that you have little Science of Self, and a refusal to develop it. I love my body, and my Self, and I don't tolerate doldrum. But note my signature. We head toward and into one. The other determines our path(s) there. @Swansont: "Humans have an emotional capacity that facilitates a great range of behavior. You believe things as you need emotional investment in something for it to have relevance to you", allows and p…

  4. This takes on the same ideas as changes from a body accellerating, accept this time the body is held still while vibrating in a medium that is being disturbed by some external forces..Perhaps a stationary boat bobbing up and down as another boat passes by it.. Or think about a point in space vibrating left and right and you want to take the instantaneous vibration of the right area location.. What's the point? Several things pertaining to un-balances and correcting them... I get this idea from "Statistics" using Bell's Theorem..

  5. Started by VenusPrincess,

Yesterday I ordered some pasta and it came with a salad and garlic bread. I finished the pasta and salad, but I was too full to eat the garlic bread so I just set it down on the floor next to my couch. It was later at night and I had the lights off so that I could watch my TV show so it was too dark to see anything besides the TV, but while watching my TV show I began to hear a crinkling sound to my right. At first I ignored it, but after a couple minutes the crinkling was undeniable and I was curious about what it could possibly be. I got up and turned on the lights and I saw hundreds of ants on top of the paper bag that held the garlic bread. I put on latex gloves and g…

  6. Started by Strange,

This is an interesting but, ultimately, fairly meaningless question. (Also, it isn't obviously related to the original point about English being "most rational, and sophisticated") The problem is, mainly, how do you define a word. Do you count inflections as separate words: e.g are "dog" and "dogs" one word or two. What about different meanings: "dog" the animal versus the verb "to dog"; and what about all the different meanings of that verb. And then the conjugations of the verb (dog, dogs, dogged, dogging, etc). Is a hyphenated term one word or two (or more). If you decide that the forms of a verb are separate words, then what about languages that have more co…

Confirm you crazy scientists in time travel atrocities? Please do tell me how you people manage to talk about creating universes in real life without first the Holy Perfect original exister of existence? How many theories does it take to find this one fact about the holy father you fools? He used Jesus Christ! And many others but Jesus Proves he is king. Do you lunatics wan hear how christianity is more evident than any other religion? Have you fools ever asked what came before existence?! The holy father did! Why because there was no evil at the beginning to touch him! He's in everything, not at the back of the universe or the front, you need him to exist some…

  8. Started by Breakdown 3456,

I am so sorry to bother everyone here I'd just like some answers on this question about the proposed growing a universe in a lab. I'd just like to state that I am not a troll account, though some of you may think that. I admit that I am suffering from depression. It's been bad for a week, but when I get bad I tend to drift onto the bigger things in the world like why are we are, where are we going etc. A recent anxiety I have had is about the concept of eternal return which states that the universe plays over and over again for all eternity. That thought terrified me as I was abused as a young boy and almost killed at …

  9. Started by Daft Theories,

If they found the actual time chemical make up or cosmetic diagnose for example. Theoretically understand how to manipulate it only back in time, as my theory going forward is far superior more dangerous if you fuck with the idea of time travel. Reason being is theoretically there is nothing scarred in the time continume forwardly, so yea... Say these crazy willing to die for the sake of science theoretically gain the cosmetic diagnosis and make up of time. They theoretically manipulate going back words in time. My theory is they would have to be stable and not move to even exist on a past time event, and theoretically they may not even be able to be present in the …

  10. Hi everyone, Don't get me wrong, I know that science is very important and that it helps us a lot in our life, but my question is how Scientific Knowledge can help to the average man who is not a scientist? For example a simple worker in a factory, or a cashier in the supermarket, why should they learn biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, cosmology and other scientific fields? What practical use do they have with this knowledge at home? Or at work? Why do they need it? (I'm talking about popular science level knowledge)

Sorry this is the last post I'll make here. I read that it's possible the universe might contract and be reborn again. If that happens and if it does follow the same history, would you still be the same person with the same consciousness? I'm terrified about this happening, as I don't want to live my horrible childhood again. Even if it does contract I don't think it would be the same consciousness as your atoms would have gone through so many changes, as would the energy that makes your consciousness, but I'm not sure, if it fell into the same pattern would it still be you?

Greetings from Spain! I am a psychology student, and I'm really interested in topics related to sex and gender. I have recently seen that there is a debate about the basis of sexual orientation: is it sex or gender? Are we attracted to people according to their sex, their gender, or both? I would like to find some books or articles that try to answer this question. I would also love to know your opinion.

  14. Hello All Can someone provide examples of how to spot someone using them when in a heated discussion. I am guessing that if someone cannot provide empirical evidence for what they believe in it comes under the category of a logical fallacy ? such as conspiracy theories.

  16. I have a trailcam on my property (a cheap Tasco, about three years old), that has suddenly started to stamp pictures it catches of me when I drive past it on my Cub Cadet. I has never done this before and only does it to me, not shots of deer, squirrels, racoons, or opossums...just me, but only on my new Cub Cadet...it never did such on the old Cub Cadet. Look just under my left hand...it looks like Red LED number "214". Can anyone give an explanation of what and how it is doing this? No guesses please.

  18. Okay so I got this „bar of soap” made of stainless steel (I think) I’ve had it for years and I have no idea where I have it from, probably someone gave it to me as a present 15 or 20 years ago. The purpose of this thing (I remember that) is to get rid of garlic/onion scent from your hands by washing in cold water and this bar of steel soap. The thing is that this actually works and I want to know exactly why? I’ve tried every combination of washing with/without it and always the steel soap wins, it clearly does what its supposed to do. Why is it that steel (and cold water) helps in getting rid of scents from your hands? The Bolognese will be ready in about 1 hour by …

  19. It has been well observed that every country which has pursued the empowerment of women has seen their fertility rates drop. This is to be expected, as women spend more time in school and the workplace they enhance their ability to provide for themselves and become less dependent on men. Less dependence on men leads to a slower rate of relationship formation and subsequent childbirths, and I have even observed that the quality of men that women are choosing has increased recently. There are many inadequate men today who are unable to find a woman as a partner since women's standards have increased in lockstep with their status in society. Socialism also allows women to be…

  20. Rather than colonizing Mars, the Moon, asteroids, or a giant solar-system cruiser, we should colonize Earth! We could build bunkers that resist the worst natural disasters. People living near the ocean should be prepared with a tsunami and hurricane shelter. Establish self-sufficient settlements in areas previously uninhabited, such as deserts that are near the ocean, Northern Canada, or Antarctica. Such independent settlements would use solar and wind power, and enough renewable biofuels (those in warm climates) to satisfy energy required for a growing settlement, and pump sea water inland to desalinate. Such settlements could produce food on farms and use surpl…

Do you guys think it would be possible. I personally think humans won't be able to make it possible, but maybe if there is a super advanced race. Be it the whole body travelling through time or the consciousness travelling to another version of the body? This is just a hypothetical question. I also want to know what would you do if you had the power to time travel? (I think this would be more suitable in the trash can) XD

Hey... So I came up with 2 ideas, no one listens to me in the real world (specifically parents) I decided to go here, so my first idea is about babies in space, I'm talking in a way that makes this topic suitable for all ages So.. I was thinking of babies born on the moon, spaceships will be discussed later Ok idk how the babies get in the mom's tummy but I'm sure that is not gonna be a problem. My machine mostly focuses on the growth and power of the baby while it is in the mom's tummy and I want to make a spinning machine that mimics earth's gravity My idea is about how we can visit it to meet the moms in it, it will have nurses and lady doctors in it an…
