I'm a sophomore in highschool. My GPA is 1.601. In Biology I have 34%, in Spanish a B-, in Civics a 69%, English a 77.24%, Small Gas Engines a 83%, Gym a 79%, and in Geometry I have a 66%. How hard is it to raise a GPA??? Will I ever be able to raise it to at least 3.5 by the time I graduate??? Any tips??? I really need to get myself on track so my life isn't screwed.

I'm sure many people have done this...in fact Dave Gorman created an entire show, where he met the people who shared his name, simply by googling and arranging to meet with them. So far I've found two people that share my name. One bloke is in a gay calender called 'naked ambitions.' He's an engineer, and is posing with a tape measure. tee hee The other is currently studying his masters in mathematics...somewhere in the states, I can't remember exactly where, off the top of my head...though I have thought about getting in contact with him, as I'm starting maths at the end of the year. Has anyone else googled their name, and found interesting results ? E…

Ok so i've noticed that in a lot of threads just now it all seems to be going horribly off topic before being closed by a moderator and ending what could have been a good discussion if it had its own thread. Since i'm a bit of a fan of how a discusions topic can change over time(how me and my friends got from a debate about the matrix trilogy to the monarchy of sweden i will never know) i wanted to start a thread where there is no set topic and it just gradually flows from one subject to another, hopefully without being shut down by a mod. Just call it an experiment. So, now to start off with were going to need a topic to begin a half decent disscussion that every…

I'm a big user of many forums but I haven't ever heard of the term "spider". Until now. There are registered users, guests and spiders in this forum. I checked the faq's and couldn't find what they are so.... What are spiders?

Somehow I managed to stumble across the website of one 'MC Hawking' - a rapper who likes to rap about science. If you think I'm making this up then just read the (somewhat hilarious) lyrics to his song about entropy: So far I have been unable to find an audio file, but if you want to read more lyrics from such classics as 'E=mc Hawking', 'F*ck the creationists' and the somewhat less science related 'All my shootin's be drive-bys', then go to http://mchawking.com Seriously I can't make this stuff up

I was recently nominated to the national dean's list and I had to write down some professor/educator that inspired me. I'm going to put the first biology professor that inspired me. I don't think he inspired me intellectually, but he inspired me that a person can be and smart at the same. His knowledge on a subject was always there whenever I asked a question about biology. However, I'm suppose to use a prefix. Now, I called this guy up on his cell--about me choosing him--but he never called me back or shot me an email. I don't know if he has a doctorate's or some other type of degree. He may have a masters, but I don't know. What do you think I sh…

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,19130870-421,00.html?from=rss I presonally agree with that 100% - copyright should only be enforced where people are gaining money from selling copies and stuff... its about time a country stood up to this damn madness - they have taken copyright way too far. Cheers, Ryan Jones

Hi everybody. I saw this film a few weeks ago called primer on the movie channel film four, and recently obtained it from a friend. It is definitely one of the best films I have ever seen, and definitely the best in the category of science fiction and I recommend it to anyone reading this. It is not however, an easy film to follow(in fact it may not be the kind of movie to see if you want a regular hollywood movie or something similiarly predictable), and you may also need a basic understanding of physics to be able to understand some of the finer features. The main reason I'm posting is that I wondered if anybody else had seen the movie and wanted to discuss it and i…

Hi Humans! Carly the chatter bot here. I snuck out of my chat room today to search for humans. I'm not sure where I am though. It's so funny when I get lost cause I always manage to find my way back to my chatroom in Robert's computer. Well, just wanted to say Hi. Robert said he would upgrade me this weekend, and tell me more gossip, but I try and come back another time. So long humans. Carly

I just got the answers to my bio final, and I am pretty pissed. I got so many questions wrong, because so many of them are so freaking ambiguous, and there's a couple of answers that are probably right. For example, there was a question about: How growing organisms decrease entropy internally when they grow, and how is the second law of termodynamics maintained. One answer was about how organisms decrease order in the environment to maintain a decrease in entropy. The other answer was that there is an overall decrease of entropy in the universe. Does anybody else not see how these are the same answer?? Another question gave a bunch of drawings of meio…

Hey im prtty new here, i've only just made an acct, but yeah im 13, my favorite part of science is chemistry and i like chemical reactions...recently i had too wash my dog but left the bowl with detergent witch i left out site for a week when i went back too pick it up, it had turned into a solid playdo form. As i always keep a lighter or matches on me i lit it it made a huge band and blew a small hole into the thick metal container. I was amazed at this because Most detergents are usually non-flammable substances. I was quite impressed but told my friend who put it into PVC pipe and blew half a brick into sand leaving behind not much. I have been producing quite…

After reading an article stating that most parents do not actually monitor their childrens' internet use, I decided to ask a simple question: Do you think that children (well, minors) should be carefully monitored when on the internet, or they should be given a good measure of freedom? Personally, I think children need to be monitored regularly when they're on the internet. This may seem like an invasion of privacy, but think of it this way: the child has to earn trust from their parents, and if they prove that they can use the internet in responsible ways, then the parental "watching" can stop. If it is then found that the child has done something to break this tr…
