Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.

Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. One of the fundamental laws of electromagnetism is the “Faraday's law of induction”. This law states that the induced EMF in a wire loop is equal to the rate of change of the magnetic flux enclosed with the loop, or E=dΦ/dt (the minus sign before “dΦ/dt” is left out because it is not important for our discussion). In the textbooks is often given an example of a loop in the shape of a rectangle which rotates in a magnetic field (figure below). What is meant by “the rate of change of the magnetic flux enclosed with the loop”? To explain this, we will make a comparison. If we hold a ring in front of our eyes as if we want to see through it, then it has a shape o…

  3. Dear moderator @Phi for All, Thanks to the valuable feedback of the members of this forum (especially thanks to @swansont, @joigus and @Ghideon) I realized where I was wrong (use of wrong definitions and unclear arguments) and I am asking for a third and final round (revised work) regarding the same discussion about the possibility of triggering motion in an isolated system through internal forces (Euler Inertial Forces). Again, I would be thankful to show me where I could possibly be wrong. The revised paper (abstract, first two pages and References. Check the new paper in my profile) is now named "Circumventing Newton's third law through Euler Inertial Forces". M…

  4. Can Anything Be Relative to Empty Space? Such as in Special Relativity, "example here." But, in this question space would be "nothingness" the void or barrier beyond this universe, or maybe a black hole, "whom knows." I get this idea from particle entanglement. And if we could do this, how would this change our technology?

Causal: Cause and Effect Questions Designed to determine whether one or more variables causes or affects one or more outcome variables. A random variable is a mathematical function that ""maps""outcomes of random experiments to numbers. It can be thought of as the numeric result of operating a non-deterministic mechanism or performing a non-deterministic experiment to generate a random result.

Many scientists, philosophers, and people of religion have sought to find the answer to the question: How did life arise? However, isn’t that question loaded? Shouldn’t we first ask: Did life arise? Mightn’t it be the case that the Universe is everlasting, and that life has always existed in this Universe? For instance, if Roger Penrose’s conformal cyclic cosmology is true, then isn’t it possible that intelligent living beings in each aeon manage to seed the next aeon with life, perhaps with signals of some sort? Something similar could be asked about other cyclical models.

  9. Look, iNow, and sorry if this is off topic, because in following this thread, I've lost track of what it was, but would you accept this point: In Science - Scientists frequently radically change their opinions. Whereas in Mathematics, there has been no fundamental change of opinion since the invention of arithmetic and algebra?

  10. I'm seeing many calculus problems that use the ideas of right angle triangles, but seldom do I come across the use of our Pythagorean Theorem spot light to the rescue in them. Infact I see much confusing or complex "hard to understand" functions and or equations, that never tell you, "You need the Pythagorean Theorem" to solve this problem. Maybe a technique to keep readers flipping pages whom knows.. In regards to rates again we have it here, a calculus problem... Please note: I'm seeing most of the time that there appears to be 2 things in motion at the same time in calculus problems, 2 changing lenths or distances but "one" time component "in the ge…

It is believed that this is associated with childbirth, but it is quite obvious that this is not the case, because there is a mass of evidence that childbirth is not directly related to puberty, at least with the appearance of secondary sexual characteristics. Psychologically, this is also not justified, because it is well known that children have emotions associated with gender relations. In that case, what is it? I guess this is the inclusion of genes that reprogram humans (and animals). Why this happened is unknown, but it seems to be true. The "childbearing" version is generally ridiculous, what can teeth and hair have to do with childbirth?

I noticed that there are 2 types of female build. 1 is in one way or another just a copy of the male, with the exception of the width of the shoulders, and the second type is represented by wide-hipped women, and this hip width, contrary to stereotypes, most often not due to the width of the pelvis, but due to the turn of the neck of the femur, that is, the hip at the place of attachment to the pelvis just diverge to the sides. The second type is apparently associated with cellulite. This second type, I assume, is associated with the Paleo-Europeans. This is confirmed by the Palaeolithic Venuses in particular. How could this shape of the thighs arise?

Ok, so first things first, I'm not a physicist or scientist in any way (software developer by trade). I love science (from astronomy to quantum mechanics to machine learning), but very much from a layman's perspective. Secondly... this is bizarre... hence why I'm posting in the "speculations/pseudo-science" channel, but could definitely use the help of someone properly qualified and with far more knowledge than me to try and make sense of a bizarre dream I had last night (if there is any sense to be made from it that is!). So my dream started with some kind of geometric structure (material seemed like hard plastic/polycarbonate) being loaded with 3 concrete blo…

Systems Presentation: The Vapor Engine Today I would like to present to you all a concept for an technology called the "vapor engine." All criticism is gladly welcomed and encouraged. Outline First I will begin by providing a non-formal design for the concept, Next I will go into explanation for how the system works, Next I will end by presenting potential issues that I see with the given system and why it would most likely not work from a personal perspective. Finally I will discuss potential applications for this system I then leave it to the forum posters to critique and analyze the system as a whole. Thank you for …

  20. Electrons are at least 5 quintillion times older than the universe. A lot of electrons could do a lot of interactions with a lot of other electrons over the entire immense life span of electrons. A lot of electrons can be entangled already. Since electrons are way older than the universe, then they must be from the energy field that surrounds the entire multiverse. Like everything else, brains are made of atoms that include electrons and there are also electrical synapses in brains. The brains electrons can have a lot of entanglements with a lot of other electrons that even trace back to the electrons of the Multiverse Field. Entangled electrons can share information with…

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenz's_law Lenz's law, named after the physicist Emil Lenz (pronounced /ˈlɛnts/) who formulated it in 1834,[1] states that the direction of the electric current which is induced in a conductor by a changing magnetic field is such that the magnetic field created by the induced current opposes the initial changing magnetic field. electric have 2 points is negative(-) and positive(+), which is resisting each other balancely, but we want to reap energy from an anti-energy field: 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 4/2 = 2, 1/2 x 2 = 1, 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 16/4 = 4, ok, also…
