  1. What would you think the effect of suddenly realizing that dozens of civilizations more less like ours exist within 100 light years of the Earth. Let's say we realized that an odd part of the EM spectrum we hadn't really checked was flooded by signals but we realized none of the planets were Earth like, all were either very hot Venus like planets or very cold Titan like planets. The Fermi Paradox would be solved for sure and I think the simplest reason we hadn't seen them physically here would be that they would be more or less as confined to their planetary systems just like we are, but how do you think our own civilization/societies/cultures would be affected? Religion…

Okay so our 28 month old is driving us both nuts. He’s at an age where he’s testing us and we both agree that borders need to be established otherwise mayhem. He can literally throw a steel toy car at my Pioneeer amp 17 times untill I take the toy car from him and I’m sticking to not giving it back to him to try to establish the borders. At this point he’s entering the febrile spasm mode deliberately choking in agony which is fine by me, I’m sticking to not giving in. Analogous situations are happening a few times a day for the past 2 weeks or so and both me and my partner are basically in agreement about how to deal with it. My question is, what are/were your ways o…

  4. Do you think they make a lot of profit? Just finished reading an article about artificial diamonds made in the lab and it is exactly the same structure as a diamond that took billions of years to produce. Price is said to be 30 percent less for artificial diamonds. That should be some decent money right there and good for a buyer who doesn't really care for it to be billions of years old... link: https://www.ritani.com/blog/diamonds/diamond-faq-lab-grown-diamonds-vs-real-diamonds/

I'm suprised we haven't had any discussion about the Genoa bridge collapse. This is the first vid I've seen of the actual collapse. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-europe-45250808/italy-bridge-collapse-cctv-shows-moment-disaster-struck Does anyone know if the bridge deck was of segmental construction?

Hello Forum, I wanted to start a gardening thread for those passionate about this. I was always passionate about having a small piece of ground and taking care of it but I realise I am missing some knowledge in some areas. I recently bought a small garden close to my house (click on spoiler) and as you can see it's in pretty bad shape. I am aware that I wont get to plant anything this year but my questions relate to the planing for next year. 1: I need to put a fence around it. 2: I want to remove some small trees and bushes. (don't ask why but I absolutely hate hibiscus) 3: I want to plant just a few veggies (like chillies) next year. My quest…

  9. I was watching a documentary on YouTube, well I have watched it ages ago but someone else posted about the Ferris wheel looking thing that supposedly produces "FREE ENERGY" on here and it popped up back in my mind. I am wondering what they mean by free energy as they talk about it when referring to perpetual motion as well. I know this is impossible according to current laws of physics. So what is free energy?

Long story long: Weekday morning, about quarter of seven, sun's up, I'm driving back roads to get to my destination, very light traffic, beautiful weather. I have the radio on, I have a coffee in the cup holder, and I'm using cruise control to keep me at the speed limit of 40 mph as I sip my coffee and enjoy the drive. The roads I'm on are mostly straight shots, with very few curves. It's not a difficult drive. There's nobody in front of me, and the car behind me is pretty far behind me, and seems to also be doing the speed limit since he isn't getting any closer. Perfect! I'm in a nice zone and all is well. Eventually I get to stop light that's red. I stop and the g…

Like you can tell what a person is like and how there mind thinks etc through studying their hand writing. Do you think there is some sort of way intelligent people write compared to non-intelligent. Also bonus question, what is your writing style like, I write cursive and it is slanted to the right.

Sometimes I search using Google when after things within foreign countries. Like google.it; Google.es; Google.fr; Google.uk There was a selection for results only for that country, now there is only a selection of language (if that much). Do you see the same ? You Google users and experts, do you know how to select results only from the country searched ? Example: if you know french, look for antiques boutiques in Montmartre ----> https://www.google.fr most results are in English. It used to be all results from France only, in french, selectable. Is this the result of tracking, location and personal data collection ? Edit: Checking my own…

In the discussion about the World Cup Soccer some were debating the concept of trying out a modified version of soccer where the goalie position is eliminated. This would result in much higher scoring (or you can make the goal smaller). One poster said his kids play in a youth group where they play with no goalie, 6 players per side, and a smaller goal. What do you think of this? I propose an experiment with a high-school league to try out this kind of soccer using no goalie. My experience in playing soccer informally in high school and college was that goalie was NOT a popular position. Most coveted position was center forward. Everybody wanted to be free to run a…

First I would like to start out by saying I'm not depressed or stressed so don't go saying I need help. I'm an artist and I don't expect you to see what I see or even feel. Now does anybody else feel like they are trapped in a underground jail? Big universe with maybe infinite worlds and not many humans care. Every place I go it's always the same boring repeating human activities such as, work, relationships, kids, religion, etc. The real questions I guess I'm here to ask is don't you ever want more? Aren't you sick of just being human?
