Seen any good sculptures made from almonds lately? Note: no other nut-based sculptures may be discussed under threat of the ban-hammer!

Just too tickle afew neurons here, went to a uni event on theories on the creation of the universe, I'm not going to lie, im a electronics engineer. Heard a lot of interesting things but it didn't really sit right with me, so this is most probably wrong, but here's a engineers guide on building a universe. a little story. A scientist is trapped in a warehouse filled full off cages, he sits in one of the cages , in the dark, wondering where he is. he shouts out for help and hears other people in the cages next to him, the scientist then reaches out one side of the cage, he feels someone, he shouts whats your name, the first person replied ying, then he reach…

do we take notes to just take notes or do we take notes to use those notes to better help clarify our understanding of the literal world around us?

The bible Book of Revelation contains prophecies of great destruction on the Earth and its population, those prophecies coming true in our day, this day, and the days to come. Scientific observations and predictions prove the accuracy of those prophecies. Destruction of the rivers, lakes, oceans through pollution, death of many people through Global Warming, a cataclysmic world war. What is your opinion? What should our reaction be? Is there hope for nations or individuals? ◄ Revelation 16 ► King James Bible Par ▾ …

Hi. I am new, here. I am posting this, because I just wanted to get this off my chest. I am not looking to convince anybody, and, in fact, I won't even describe my idea, here. I just want to lament. Nonetheless, I have an idea, and personally, I find it fascinating enough to investigate. The problem is that I feel increasingly overwhelmed by the amount of work required to fully investigate it. Simply put, two years ago, I discovered an identity in classical field theory (not necessarily novel), which, to me, indicates a way to construct a certain physical theory. My ideas on this matter have matured enough so that I have actually written a crude simulation…

I am trying to find due South by the Sun ,but realize that it is not as simple as waiting for twelve o'clock and taking that as a reference. Even within the same time the sun will rise ,set and be due South at different times . How can I work this out just by using the lat/long measurements anywhere in the world?

Mods .. if you think this topic fits better someplace else feel free to move it. "If a star's negative gravitational energy balances its positive rest mass energy" the star has arisen from nothing, that forumula stopping Einstein dead in his tracks as he crossed a street at Princeton, vehicle having to stop to avoid hitting him. I believe it was Born who related the fomula to Einstein as they crossed the street. So yes, here we are talking about Jordan, despite an initial reception in the forum when I first presented his stars-from-nothing formula that said something like he should not be taken seriously because he thought the world was expanding; but someone …

Here, assuming you have a time machine. You bring a person age 30 back 30 years ago when he was born, knocked out his other consciousness in that world and have him born from age 0 with no memory, you've now completed a loop. The guy will forever grow to become age 30 and get transferred back to his birth with his memory erased, by you, and get re-borned. Over and over again. Stuck in the time loop

Been working on smartening up my place and trying to get ideas on lighting. I feel using blue light for mornings has been helpful, not sure about other times though. Trying to be as scientific about it as possible.

I don't like to post links to pages which include adverts so if anyone can find a better one feel free to add. The Guardian is however regarded as the teacher's newspaper. The Guardian reports that OUP has continued the removal of hundreds of words to do with Nature and other common words from the Dictionary prepared specially for juniors. Words such as almond, bluebell, magpie will be lost in favour of phrases such as cut and paste. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/jan/13/oxford-junior-dictionary-replacement-natural-words The thread title encapsulates my opinion. So the thread question is

Tell an old man who refuses to "feel" old, who rejected "growing old" while in middle age, who has good health, vigor, a few expected aches and pains, how to "give up" the lifestyle formerly involving heavy vehicular work, design and machining of project metal parts, in short, avoidance of the proverbial "rocking chair"...........

My friend recently finished college in the spring with a degree in....drum roll...you'll never guess..."Outdoor Recreation". Seriously, what career does this kind of major provide? It's more of a bad joke than a bad major. Sadly, this is just one of the many majors that will land college grads into crippling debt. I believe colleges have an obligation to discontinue a service that does not benefit the whole of it's students. Lets be honest, no high school graduate goes to college to "enhance their minds and enrich their thinking". We all go to college to get a higher paying career, period. A bachelors degree alone should be sufficient to get a gaduate a de…

I'd appreciate some help here from US or UK folks (especially UK). Is there a name for an exam that a person has to take from some state body to be able to work in a certain profession. I often hear reference in the US to a "bar" in the context of law. The context I need it in is a person passed this test for being a librarian. Is there a name specifically for that?

I have been hounded by a couple of characters who follow me around the net and are quite obnoxious. Some of the PM's and posts they've put on sites I visit are remarkable. It wasn't noticed when they signed up just to taunt me and caused a perfectly good thread to be trashed. It wasn't noticed they signed up on 11-4 of last year and haven't been seen since 11-7. I'd like to start posting here again in a much reduced manner. There are going to be a lot of news stories coming out of Egypt in the near future and I'd like to just interject some facts ands logic in the maelstrom of interpretation. I hope there are no objections.

Encircling the world is a trace; not like dotting a dot more like dotting a circle; you cannot define using only your word, what Earth objective is, only trace the Earth, so the objective is higher than word. Mana The universe is a state of non existecne that is a higher power; traces continue to upgrade until the universe; existent entities, are all that exist, the universe is non-existent.na …

Let me first say that by best I mean best for health, with no regard at all for body building (weight loss or muscle gain). I'm wondering whether anyone is familiar with any research that could answer the following questions: #1 Which type of exercise is best for health (paying no mind to weight loss or muscle gain)? HIIT, steady cardio or weight lifting? #2 If I am already doing HIIT or steady cardio, is there any additional health benefit to be gleaned adding weight lifting into the mix?

Hi. By ~1960, dad installed a wooden donkey on his VW dash. Collapsed and stood by engine vacuum. Similar to the 'push button' puppets that I can only find; as searches with the 'vacuum' term in english default to 'vacuum cleaner' Looked like the yellow based, without the under button, but a hose to the engine intake instead. Do they exist somewhere now ?

I am going to go with Mike Tyson. From watching YouTube videos of his deadly knockouts and the way he trained as well as various articles on Google, I am going to say Tyson is the hardest hitter in boxing history and would probably beat Muhammad Ali. Also another question instead of starting another thread, do you think Mike Tyson could knock out a gorilla with his bare hands and hardest hit.

Is ancient Greek history as grand as movies portray to be? The whole warrior culture thing, the Spartans and the Myrmidons from Homers Iliad as well as other stuff I have no idea about. There is a new game that came out called Assassins Creed: Odyssey and it has a lot of this warrior stuff and people wearing warrior clothing and all that stuff, lots of fighting lots of sailing. My question is really, is ancient Greece really "all that"? Also how comes Greeks now days are not not that good at sports if they had such a culture, Polynesians also had a warrior culture in the past and they are some of the most successful sports people.

Hi all. -Please move if there is a proper nutrition/food section- Is the sugar content in food labels a constituent or an added ingredient ? Random example : ----> https://www.motts.com/products/100-juice/motts-100-original-apple-juice If it is 100% juice from crushed apples, and is showing 28 grams of sugar per serving, it is not added sugar as in a soda, but natural sugars in the fruit, figures obtained from chemical analysis. Right ? Now; which is the type of sugar promoting obesity ? Sucrose, dextrose, glucose, fructose, galactose... And which one does not promote obesity ? Do recommendations of eating a number of fruit servings daily (…
