Hi there, Recursion - What would be the complement of it? 1. Recursion sounds a little bit scary to me. Wouldn't it be nicer Embedding instead? 2. Russian doll matryoshka /matr- - mother/ 3. Coming To America..."Where's the Spoon"...Eddie Murphy as Saul the Jewish Guy

... If I were you I would watch up all of Adam Curtis's documentaries. All of them. It is exactly one generation between him and me. You don't have to believe him(it is BBC after all). You may probably take it as an information about his opinion. He is a clever man. I love him.

Hi there, 1. p = m.v (right side * t/t) p = F.t /I was astonished then in school. I still am. This makes me smile. Pure magic./ A = F.L (both sides * 1/t) /A - work, L - distance/ E = F. v 2. It's hard to figure out who's wrong, who's right but it's always obvious who's in charge. Murphy's law

I've been using Google maps to route and measure my course. I've been doing a two mile lap with my best time as 13 minutes 30 seconds. Recently I did a one mile course, jogging it in 5:20, and now I just jogged it twice in 12:50. Obviously Google maps isn't accurate. A cost effective approach might be to buy a 1-mile length wire, but the length might not be precise and it would probably get dragged off the sidewalk as I go around. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Would you care to share your story on how you came to be where you are today? What is the biggest influenced outside of academics that led you to the field you work in? What is the most challenging situation you have encountered in your lifetime? What is the most valuable thing you have learned from your experiences? What advice would you tell a younger version of yourself? Is there anything left you wish to accomplish? I understand you are very busy so I want to thank you for the privilege of your time.

What do you think. Anybody thinking of buying one? (From wiki) Tesla Cybertruck is an all-electric battery-powered light commercial vehicle in development by Tesla, Inc. Three models have been announced, with range estimates of 250–500 miles (400–800 km) and an estimated 0–60 mph time of 6.5–2.9 seconds, depending on the model.[9] I really like it, it's different. I love trucks, especially the Hilux, but I've got to say, if I had the money to buy one of them I'd definitely pick the Tesla. There's something about this that makes me want one. At least it's different. I'm not sure if it's futuristic or retro though, a bit of both really I think. Having s…

Difficult one, but someone might know: At what moment in history are magnitudes of units of electric field (volts per meter) and of magnetic field (tesla) adjusted just right so that we don't need ugly constants in laws like Lorentz law or Faradays law of induction? Was this also the case in dark times before SI units?

Ok guys here it is, I know this is probably the wrong forum, I am so bad at choosing that, be that as it may, What I want to discuss here is not if the following sighting was real or not. This happened in 1952 and the subsequent years have resulted in at least some disagreement on the details. However, was the eyewitness and other evidence correctly handled or was it as i assert mishandled for whatever reason. If you comment one way or another please let us know why you think so. The Air force simply not knowing what the hell was happening is probably enough for them to have dropped the ball on this but here we go. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1952_Washington…

Ok so I have been reaaaaaaly reluctant to share an idea that I came up with a while back and have been working on for a long time and I am not sure what to do with it. I can continue keeping it to myself, working on it in secret. Trying to improve it so that one day it will be ready for others. Or I can share it now and gain partial notoriety from it, however this is really unlikely due to it being so weird of an idea. However I do not want to be what causes harm to others if it turns out that it is a "good idea." I can go without the notoriety, however my ego will have a problem with it, however my biggest concern is how it might affect others along with how it may …

Any sports fans out there? Anyone think there are some dumb sports out there? As a sports fan I start following NFL football about mid-season. I make a list of the few teams with the best records, and I follow them the remainder of the season. There are other sports I like, such as NBA basketball, soccer, track and field, surfing, etc. There are some sports I don't understand, and tend to think they are dumb, such as WWE (Pro Wrestling), boxing, mixed martial arts (where they are allowed to really beat and kick each other), auto racing (except for drag racing). There are a few sports I don't like and don't think they are dumb, they are just boring, s…

I'm sorry for English is not my native language. Me and my friend we debating about how to survive a 1,000 feet free fall down. My friend who absolute sure that it is 100% fatal with that height. But nothing can be certain, me I see it is possible to survived. There stories where you survived high fall if you landed on soft snow, big trees, woods, sand, mud, etc.. Or anything along the way that can break down your fall instead of went straight down the bottom with nothing stopping you along the way. Me and my friend use this bridge to debate. Free fall down in the middle of that bridge will take you down 1,000 feet clearance below. Friend said it a gua…

In medieval times, those lords/nobles building their expensive castles using many workers during extended years... Where did they keep their coin? currency to pay salaries ? How were their funds originated and replenished, likely ? Inherited, taxing neighborhoods, what sorts of big successful businesses, commerce, were conducted from those often remote castles... ?

Been working on this Nativity scene for my wife project started before last Christmas. Trying to complete it for this year's Xmas lol. Made the dowelling myself using a 1/2 inch round edge router on all 4 sides saved me 250.00 in material. Using strictly cedar for the wood portions then thinking about how to simulate the mud packing. Thinking about a grey clay pack between the logs.

Just read this on quora, Can someone tell me if it's true, seems abit far fetched to me. Is 1100 dB really that loud? Ok, found this on the same site. But can sound really create a black hole? Or is it just 'in theory' , i.e. On paper yes, but not in real life.

So our group advisor had to move our equipment from one lab to another since the department was moving to another building. Our advisor and us pitched in using uhaul to bring it where it was needed. I MAY choose academia in the future and personally, I would not want my students to have to handle the move themselves. Is there any alternative way to handle it? Is there a good reason to do it the way formerly described, anyway?

I've talked to a few people and I think I get the basic gist that you talk to a bunch of people in your field, some outside, make friends and then you have a 'network' of people with certain skills you can fall back on when you need it and your own ability in that area is insufficient and vice versa when they need you. However, practically, for some reason, I just can't fathom it. Or maybe I don't want to. I don't know. Maybe it's my background/upbringing. I haven't thought about it too much. All I know is that it's important and the few people I have asked about it, I couldn't fully understand the concept. Like who do I do it with? Why is it really that important? H…
