Speculations

Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.

Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. Science, religion, racism, technology, politics...are evolutionary traits which are present in many animals. Because they evolved and developed differently it looks like those are properties of humans. The fact that we are animals should be sufficient evidence for this. -Many species use some kind of tools.(technology) -When an animal has a bad experience with someone from an other species, he will (to increase his chance to survive) threat all animals from that species as the one he had a bad experience with, the same....this causes racism. -Racism and other unscientific beliefs can lead to religion. Science evolves via unscientific beliefs. -Animals teach…

  2. This question I believe is like asking where were you before you were born and where will you be after your dead. So infinity is found in all dimensions combined and time is linear; with that in mind, if gravity has a separate function then the other 3 forces, how can it function alone without them? This leads me to a supposition that there is an interplay between the four forces which share common properties of symmetry defined from variations of momentum. And the interplay of the four forces which move across time share dynamically in angular field forces across any distance. Gravity waves are the slowest Weak Nuclear Electromagnetism Strong Nuclear…

  3. Once upon time the earth was considered to be fixed in the centre of the universe. Then the Copernican revolution came along and fixed the sun in the centre of the universe. Now the sun is known to be moving faster than the planets relative to the sun. In deference to their own evidence, physicists, mathematical or not, won't countenance anything that says a fixed sun is the answer to planetary motion and the universe beyond So are mathematical physicists the pope of Galileo's day? A thread on this forum got locked. When all it was there for was to say the discovery of a moving sun means Kepler's three laws have to be done again. And the tides to. …

  4. Some people think that in your central nervous system there are several million neurons firing at any given time, and when a neuron fires, a pulse travels down the axon activating synapses and so on. But what if the neurons fire one at a time? Only one pulse begins at a time but there are millions of different pulses traveling at any given time. Suppose I show you a photo. Neurons fire in response to the light coming off the picture. This creates a pattern of synaptic activity unique to the picture. Now, if you’ve never seen the photo before maybe it’s giving you new ideas, but if you have seen it before a neuron will fire to begin a cascade that gives you that sensa…

  5. Firstly, let's discuss the validity of saying anything is a "greenhouse gas". There's really no such thing short of very rare gases. O2 is 21% of the atmosphere and has a higher latent heat content. To suggest that CO2 which composes 400 ppm or .04% of the atmosphere has significant effects and that only 25% of that is the real culprit is bordering on idiotic. Secondly, let's make it clear that warm periods occur every thousand years. We know of the Mycenaean, the Roman, the Medieval and the one we're presently in. Moreover this was began in 1886 long before man had the ability to effect anything. Thirdly, this is a water planet. Water in liquid or solid states co…

  6. Introduction I have some different ideas about how the brain works, and need help in the form of debate concerning to what extent they make sense. I am a recent college graduate but have only ever taken one psychology and one philosophy/linguistics class, so it is difficult for me to see to what extent the theory adds up with what is known about cognitiveneuropsychology. Keep in mind that I am not so much writing a story, but painting a picture, in hopes that you will either see what I see and either explain it better or logically convince me how wrong I am. Any thoughtful feedback, positive or negative, will be highly appreciated. I believe that many uniquely…

  8. Bell's Inequalities: Proof of invalid assumptions v1.0.5 Objective I intend to show how Bell's Inequalities are based on a number of false premises which resulted in an incorrect the derrivation of expected results which was the basis for the conclusion. It is not intended to prove anything about local realism, superposition states, or spooky action at a distance. In fact, I believe this solution logically shows that spooky information is still required. While I have no problem with accepting the concept of superposition states, and believe that Bell's conclusion is probably more or less correct, I think the derrivation of expected results in Bells Theorem is…

When I mentioned that I thought the theory of particles moving through spacetime didn't intuitively sound right. Strange asked me post something in speculations with math. Unfortunately I don't have the math background to do that. But I did find a book by John A Macken that was saying basically the same thing I was think of. That particles are really just pieces of spacetime and not particles in spacetime. Has anyone reviewed this? Does the theory make sense? Does the math back up the theory? Thanks. http://onlyspacetime.com/Chapter_5.pdf

  12. Hello everyone. I've come across a rather condescending chap, who believes he has 'proof' of a 'knower' as the causal agent for the universe. I'm an Engineer, so what he is proposing is a bit outside of my field. A few of us have asked him what credentials he holds, only to have "I'm human" and "none of your business" - strange, seeing that he claims to understand "real science"? Anyway, this is his argument: "1. Xiao-song Ma et al. (2013): Quantum erasure with causally disconnected choice. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 110, pp. 1221-1226. The authors PUMMEL Naive Realism and take Local-Causality to the Woodshed (again)... "The presence of *PATH INFORMATION" …

Many people must be thinking " Is time travel is really true or false??" but..i say " it's false " but.........and I say again" false is a thing in time so why can't we change it??" Here everyone..just think if a guy hop back from future and say..." I m a time traveller " you must be thinking he must be insane and..mad!!! Really I also think like that yet...many people 97% thinks like that...but...just think if he is telling truth??? Mmm ...if there is anything among the day to day physics?? Mmm..think again. People the one who..dreamed to fly..like birds..so airplanes arrived..so why can't we go to that dream come true?? So I would like to explain..a…

Does anyone else think that gravity could essentially be a force created by the interaction between matter & anti-matter, similar to the force of positive and negative magnetism? Only in this case anti-matter creates an even force around a body of matter, repelling each other enough to keep the mass of matter in a Constant shape? Or, maybe they attract each other instead. In equal balance so one doesn't overwhelm the other. Maybe this creates time too. Sort of acting on the principle of a railgun. This might also help explain why time slows down the further you move away from a solid mass such as Earth. Hope I explained that clearly enough!

Here is some of my theories if you go to a small enough measure of time and space planck lengths and a nothingth of a second preons will not move but the next nothingth of existance next frame and its has teleported then if you apply that to the atoms in our bodies we should be teleporting and that means infinite G-Forces and theerefore only life that cant move and has no molecular movement wont die and if its body can withstand absolute 0 then it can live but it has to be still and would probobaly die and also this teleporting means that movement dosent exist and ist jsust atoms teleporting more length oveer the frames please find a way to deprove it in…

If space is finite, you can define a distance from yourself to the edge of the universe. If space is finite but expanding, this distance will grow larger over time. Spatial expansion is a scaling factor, not a speed. But if space is finite, a speed can be defined at which the edge is receding. Are these correct assumptions for a finite universe?

I'm new here, and that's because I created this account to post this. I need some feedback to see if this is at all possible. Is it possible that White Holes are the "back end" of black holes in other dimensions, sometimes losing mass to our dimension? Or maybe is it possible that it is disturbances between the matter from other dimensions, bringing small amounts of matter from other dimensions to ours? My last speculation is that White Holes are the conversion of Dark Matter to our type of matter, if Dark Matter isn't part of other dimensions. Thoughts?

  21. Every elementary particle discovered is later found to consist of additional constituent particles, and there has never been a way for us to determine whether or not that continues indefinitely with particles being perpetually divisible. For a particle to always consist of another tier of constituent particles at a smaller scale would be tantamount to there not being such thing as 'particles', only waves and energy -- and matter could be described more generally as an elemental material 'essence' or cloud, with indefinite form. Chemistry, as a science, accurately and consistently describes interactions of elements; it does not detail a science for particles like t…

Is this what a neanderthal really looked like? What has to be the most unique representation of what neanderthals looked like! I ran across this last night. Basically what this guy is saying is that neanderthals are being misrepresented because we always reconstruct them using human paradigms and in reality they are better represented as more apelike. Neanderthal super predators: Evidently according to this guy the neanderthals shaped our evolution by preying on us! His video it like a horror movie but he does have some points. The idea that neanderthals looked like us is based un.. us! He reconstructs them using ape parameters instead of human. …

  23. The true nature of space In order for my theory to take form it is vital that we first re-examine the true nature of space. I’m talking about space in a vacuum state, the stuff that exists outside of the life sustaining atmosphere of our earth. What is space exactly? If we were to remove all observable matter and radiation what would be left? Is space empty? To this last important and fundamental question my reply is simply, no. Space is not empty and far from it. To the naked eye earth’s air appears to be empty. It was not until we developed the tools and understanding to see things on magnified scales that we uncovered a vast array of matter of varying sizes. From…

After thorough analysis of " arithmetic "( adding pieces on computer ) and then doing two " pen/paper " integers I must conclude that gravity need to be calculated to the midpoint of gravity field instead of midpoint of mass . And therefore I say that the method need to be as I briefly describe in attachment . I dare call the formula g= M*Ti /( p-R^2/5p )^2 a new gravity lav although it is made for only spheres so far ( and far away masses ) I ask you to read and consider my postulate because it is at least for me the only way of handling gravity so " ends meet" .The direction and distance from where the "weight "can be measured is by my meaning same as physically right…

  25. I had a look at the video, & am not impressed. If the observer on the platform was Einstein, & if he had all of the simple info & simple measurements & simple theory needed, then he would see or deduce every detail of what happed as the train passed, & he would deduce that the passenger (she) saw simultaneous flashes (as did he). Thusly, the train (thought) experiment (& thusly Einstein's SR) relies on having an observer that is ignorant of the critical measurements, or is too stupid. This probably makes this thought experiment & the resulting SR theory unique. I am ok with mathematical tricks, & weird models, if they give good answers,…
