Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Can a homosexual, become heterosexual? I think it's possible. I assert homosexuality is not genetic, but mental; that homosexuality, is an abstraction of 'human competitive nature'. Boys will be boys... "There is a woman, long lost, in every homosexual man's imagination". 'Human competitive nature' spans from small-scale to large-scale; for example, simple games, and then, war... The abstraction of, this nature, can be abstruse. The long lost woman of the homosexual man's imagination, is hard to keep track of. A homosexual man may find comfort in pure-homosexuality (where there is no alternative); he may endure a life, and sexual life, withou…

Preface Is science today blinkering itself with complexity? black holes, bent space/time, string-theory, multiverses and the search for a God particle. Possibly, are the answers more simple? Below is the only proposition I am aware of that postulates what gravity is, and therefore what Black holes possibly are, and hypothesizes 'Time' before the Big Bang. The Eureka moment came from an inversion of one of science's assumptions. If this inversion is proven correct, then out comprehension of our universe is also upside down. The proposal may contradict an accepted unchallenged theory, but it is provocatively logical' A UNIFYING THEORY There cannot be nothing. The…

As usual, the science gets into wrong conclusion about the following evidence. http://www.sciencealert.com/scientists-have-found-evidence-of-a-planet-eating-death-star Two new planets discovered… but there used to be three. . "When the team analysed the star's composition, they found four times more lithium than they expected for a star of its age – 6 billion years – along with evidence of a surplus of refractory elements: heat-resistant metals that are abundant in rocky planets. Where is the north pole? Everybody knows that (or so I thought). To be sure, I pulled out my compass & the blue needle_end pointed north, the silver end south. (That) Seemed pretty reliable, till I gathered compasses together, & then they started pointing at each others tails, instead, when they were close together. Hmm? Now I was totally lost. So I looked at a globe & in the Arctic area at the top it said North pole & magnetic north pole. I pointed my compass at the globe, but the compass needle didnt budge (staying in the direction it was before). (The globe must have been made of aluminum or plastic, or something else). …

  8. The idea I had for this was to 'cheat' the geometry of how waves accelerate a particle by setting up an nano-apparatus which would distribute absorbed inertia such that the apparatus continuously accelerates into more waves of force. If possible, the major drawback would be that it wouldn't be able to travel in a straight line, and how it would fit into designs above the nanoscale is a head-scratcher. Another idea I had for long distance space travel (maybe not FTL, but relativistic speeds) would be to set up a solar-sail turbine with sort of a screw-like shape, which also has a strong electrical current running through it; as the solar sail reaches a relativistic th…

I previous threads I commented that Einstein explained differences in clock timing with time dilation. Since I don't believe time exists in the physical universe I proposed there is another possible solution. The weak and strong forces emit electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetic waves react with gravitational waves and I proposed that this interaction could be one possible explanation for the difference in clock timing. While there are some bizarre aspects to QT I don't think time dilation is ever used to explain anything. Here is my point. If QT doesn't need time dilation why should GR? Could this be part of the incompatibility?

Time is a big term. Let's say we divide time, like a measure(everything that happens) in a smaller measure = moments(everything that happens now). If a moment needs some force/power to happen, could we take out that force/power from a moment and then just "travel trough time" (example, in that same room but without "time running") ?

  16. Hello. I'm looking for scientist for serious project research. I have no idea where I can put those things into working but they are health related and energy related. Energy (Qi/Chi) seems to be ridiculed by science which is defensive behavior from maniacs and hoax. I did a lot of research on that topic (mostly practical) and I see big potential to change our future if we develop science to discover this aspect of ourselves and reality. Like healing, recovery of bones structure, emotion control (being always happy or always happy-pills, no suffering pills), using technology to create and project those things. I would gladly prove and show how to generate energy for d…

The following theory was published by myself on the 1st August 2013: "The Question When the universe came into being at the big bang event, matter was split from its counterpart antimatter. In energy terms, antimatter is the opposite to matter. This means that, should the two meet, they counteract and cancel each other out. The sum energy of the universe is, as it has always been, zero. But as scientists use more and more advanced and sophisticated instruments and probes to explore and measure the universe, it has become clear that there is practically no antimatter. What has happened to it all? There should be as much antimatter as there is matter; not roughly as muc…

Does anyone have a link or editable file (.docx, .pdf) to the thorough calculation (comprehensible) for the Michelson & Morley experiment 1887? I noticed or suspect the 2nd mirror's 2nd coordinate might be at rest, & I just wanted to check the official calculations to be sure that is not the case. A historical rundown (briefing) would also be helpful as to what Lorentz did. E.g. Status report.

In my opinion, time is man's invention. Time did not start with the BB, is not an original component if the universe and is not a dimension. Man requires time to describe the events we predict or observe. Take the equitation Distance = Speed x Time. This equation is helpful in order for us the understand the relationships and for us to make calculations. However, the universe does not care how fast anything is traveling. The universe is driven by events governed by the laws of physics and time is not a consideration. The universe has done very well before man invented time.

PAREIDOLA describes the phenomena of objects that look like other objects, I.e. the man in the moon, rock formations, clouds etc. We know these are naturally occurring phenomena and few people take them serious, but there are some living plants that have astonishing similarity to other living objects; A swaddled baby, (Impatiens Bequaert), and Flying ducks, (Orchid Caleana Major), and many others. We know that natural rock and cloud formations are beyond manipulation. We also know that humans at the present time are not capable of genetic alteration of plant life to the extent of the plants referred to here. Is it possible that that these plants are genetically designed t…

Hell-o ! First of all, sorry for my English, I hope you’ll understand the proposed idea. By Hubble’s law, the universe is expanding, the farther away the observed object, the faster. Like as some anti-gravitational forces exist. Anti-gravitation means objects with mass are PUSHED away. But – if some masses exist outside of our vision, that PULL ? By “regular” gravitation. Nice to name it as Universe Halo, but same computer game exists, so let’s call this far-far away area Hell-o (you will understand later why). Let's consider a sphere with a density lower than that of its surrounding infinity. It will behave as massive ball, but with anti-gravita…

The existence of an invisible form of matter called dark matter was first proposed to explain observational anomalies in the motion of galaxies. For example observations suggest that galaxies rotate as if they had halos of invisible mass around them because they are rotating faster than would be expected based on their apparent masses. The amount of dark matter necessary to explain the movements of galaxies is huge, about 5 times the amount of visible matter in the universe (Wikipedia, Dark matter). Dark matter has been sought in the form of various types of new particles but so far none have been found. This proposal is a simple and rather obvious consequ…

Bose Einstein Condensation is form at temperature close to absolute zero and matter becomes a matter wave. My idea is that all matters essentially becomes matter wave at a certain degree close to absolute zero, it is just easier for gas to become a matter wave at low temperature instead of a solid. And the absent of heat is essentially when all heat is taken from it, heat being electromagnetic radiation, or light. So if you can freely manipulate this wave at close to zero degree, you can freely create all matters based on this matter wave P.S. Or someone explains to me what matter wave is P.S. As my speculation goes, if you want something, you just bake it ht…
