Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. I think I have proven that what's usually accepted as bijection and cardinality is all wrong, and nobody seems to believe me or care.. what should I do ? I know you don't easily reject old accepted ideas, but can you at least really think about it ? First : bijection between two infinite set are not true, they are UNDECIDABLE. When you build a bijection, it is true only when you don't get a new element from one of the sets or both, not just when you can still get elements from the sets. So with 2 infinite set, the bijection is NEVER proven true, because you can always get new elements from both. It just keep infinitely UNDECIDABLE. So you can NEVER prove a bijection…

Recently I was reading about the Carnivore Diet and the various claims people make about it curing depression, ADD, and etc. I do not advocate the Carnivore Diet nor am I on, have ever been on, or am even considering going on the Carnivore Diet. My question is to what extend does our diet, any healthy diet, impact our mind. Obviously inadequate nutrition can impairs brain function but assuming one is adequately nourished with a healthy combination of fat, protein, sugar, salt, vitamins, minerals, and so on how much impact does the source of nutrition have on behavior, personality, and mood? I have found some literature on the subject relating to children but not adults.

Linear Time is a bad hoax consisting of pseudo-scientific theory, and profiteering pseudo-scientists. Linear Time suggests Time is a line, and this is false; yet it's often backed up with pseudo-science about spacetime. A reason why it's wrong is that as soon as we start to walk, we cannot pause if Time was a line, unless the line was to become segmented. If we paused and a line was Time, Time would be more significant than existence, causing non-linear existence to nonexist (instead only a line exists); therefore, Time isn't Linear Time. If we made a right angle turn and a line was Time, it would suggest that Time is a rota…

Things without a start can't exist... its a simple proposition but if it were true, it would clear up some big questions about the universe. First, what do I mean by start? To be specific, for things to exist they must have: - Spacial start point(s). For example, a circle you can choose any point as a spacial start point. Yourself you could choose your feet as start points, etc... - A temporal start point. For example, your date of birth was when you started (roughly speaking) There are no examples of things without starts in the material world I can think of; so we could take that as empirical evidence supporting the proposition. If the …

I want to be the starting or origin of a species of humans that are Gorilla like. I want them to be strong like Gorilla fast like Gorilla and have all the good qualities that Gorilla have. How can I evolve through time to eventually produce Gorilla like humans in the distant future through my sperm. Do I exercise more? Do I eat more? What do I got to and what do my generations of offspring have to do?

  8. My hyphotesis is: our world is made of infinite universes, our universe is only one of the infinite. Big bangs are happening all the time, of course huge distances away from eachother. In the so called cold death of our universe the supermassive black holes (from the local galaxy clusters) continue to travel with huge speeds outwards from the centre of our big bang. In the far future some of them will slowly evaporate, but some of them will inevatibly "collide" and merge with other supermassive black holes from other universes. These merging black holes will grow bigger and bigger until they reach a critical mass which results in a new big bang. And this goes on forever i…

  9. The doppler effect only deals with 'observable' wave behavior. The Austrian physicist Christian Doppler described this phenomenon in 1842. Redshift is often 'defined' as doppler redshift. Cosmological redshift is for example also defined as being due to the doppler effect. In the doppler effect, sound waves are treated the same way as electromagnetic radiation...very odd. There is this 'theory' you can call "Compton redshift" which states that Compton(inelastic) scattering causes Cosmological redshift.

Hello Everyone! I'm new to the forum and I'd like to pose my first question. Something I have not yet found a good answer to. I'm hoping for some input from geology/chemistry or any other members with relevant knowledge. OK here goes: How long, at least in theory, would it take for the planet to be completely "scrubbed" of all traces of human civilization/activity. In other words, is it possible through the elapse of specific timespan, to never be able to tell that human beings once had a civilization here on earth? Thanks in advance!

Imagine floating on the surface of a very, seemingly infinitly, deep and wide ocean. There are currents in this ocean, but the surface of the water seems to be completely still. The sky is always blue with no clouds, yet you never see the sun. You never feel a breeze nor gust, even when you are propelling yourself forward. Every now and then you see boats and other objects leisurely, drifting past, but nothing seems to leave a wake. Would you know you are moving? Now what if the surface wasn't the ocean but time, and your movement is your movement through time? What if you had a way to anchor? This hypothesis is based on a few ideas: 1) Einstein's Theory of Sp…

Thousands of molecules are in the chemical trash after they have passed the screen of experimentation, losing the category of useful molecules. When we come to biochemistry we find hundreds of favorable molecules whose knowledge has allowed us to solve many personal problems. I feel this concept of favorable molecules as a challenge, something like judo when facing adversity. Could molecules constructed with piracetam, magnesium and fluorine or lorazepam, magnesium and fluoride be biologically useful, for example, in the treatment of cancer? I have no responsibilities in basic research, I just have the duty to know the state of the art in my profession. It's the shar…

I plan on getting some engineering degrees, so I can become an inventor and invent things to change the world for the better as well as sell products and offer free products on the open marketplace and to non-profits so that the world can be better off than I found it. I have long dreamed of doing this and hope to accomplish this as it is a dream I hold close to my heart. Anyway I will be attempting through science and technology to create tech that improves the lives of everyone rich or poor regardless of status or monetary allotment. I will also find ways to work on provisional patents for upgrades and updates to and add-ons to many of the current patents are …

Is it correct or is it just a good attempt by a 15 yr old I know it's out of topic but since I've decided to discuss my so called theories on this forum I'd like it to start with this I'd be very obliged if you all could just review and express your views about the paper. 20. In standard Big Bang cosmology, the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR) originated about 13 billion years ago. Subsequently, it will be visible at a distance of 13 billion light years from its origin. Our own galaxy has only moved a much shorter distance from a place close to this origin since then. My question is how it can be that we, nevertheless, still can see this radiation. Text books assure us that the CMBR is a blackbody radiation that expands with the universe and so becomes more long-waved. This would require either that the universe was (1) infinite or (2) surrounded by a reflecting wall or (3) expanding like the surface of an inflating balloon. A…

I am 42 now but when I was about 23 I had what I believed was a profound realisation about the universe, I still think about it today and it is no less profound to me. This realisation was related to what science calls the theory of everything. It wasn't and isn't a theory like todays, but it is an idea, an insight into how the universe is actually doing what it does. Although I am not classically trained in physics this does not mean I am bad at maths or can't read about the maths, its just not that important to this insight. In fact, the insight is about explaining why the universe is mathematical in the first place. Anyway, this realisation took about 6 years to unfold…

The essay, "Debunking Physics and Discovering Forever (A Rational and Materialist Perspective of the Fundamental nature of the Universe)" is located at home.spin.net.au/paradigm/essay.pdf “For a completely consistent and connected understanding of the Universe, you need to begin from the most fundamental rational and materialist perspective that’s possible. With its over-riding commitment to mathematics and measurements and other abstractions, the physics establishment is an abstractionist paradigm that’s not completely rational and materialist and doesn’t begin from the most fundamental perspective. By adopting a completely rational and materialist and truly fundame…

Hi everyone, My name is David and I just wanted to share my thoughts, thx. The universe is accelerating because as time ticks forward, more "dark matter" is being created. I think "dark matter" is actually more than a single thing, I believe it's combination of two elements. The "DB" elements. The origin of "dark matter" or The "DB" Elements comes from the same place everything else does, dying stars. If you measure the mass of a dying star, then measure the mass of what we can measure after it dies. You will find much of the matter appears to be missing. This is because we can not currently detect The "DB" Elements. I look forward t…
