Surprised I did not know these existed and I have been well into the recording industry since young. Anyone knows about them ? At a local recycling store, saw this. Compared to a normal 12 inch 'long play' on the picture :

Australia just won the third cricket test and the Ashes, being played in Melbourne, by an Innings and 14 runs, going three up in the best of five tests series. For our non cricket playing nations, the cricket Ashes was born in 1882 when a combined team from the Australian colonies, (before we obtained nationhood) defeated England in England and a satirical obitary appeared in the English paper, lamenting the defeat thus..... test cricket is played over five days, six hours a day, with each side of 11 men have two innings to bat. The current test that just concluded saw Australia score 267 in the first innings against England's 185, and then bowling England out…

Ask some teenagers who is one cool cat on the block. Some will include Pope Francis. He is a peoples Pope. He has at least 2 bicycles (gifted by a cycling champion and admirers) He resides in the modest Domus Sanctae Marthae. The more resplendent Apostolic Palace is empty. He quickly dispensed with the Hummer like papal limousine for a humbler Fiat. He of course Heads the Catholic church which does good works worldwide and is universally respected (as with other major religions). He has my vote. He recently hit the headlines. He said its pure selfishness having no or just one child. Also adding childless couples should consider adopting. He criticised the easier opt…

The lines are already drawn. We are a species that survives due to genetic diversity. Different responses at different times to threats ensure our survival or demise. A lot of our responses are already hard wired into our genes. The rest is conditioning. The serious science is heavy going. Some scientists concentrate 100% on science. A few take a 2 minute break and enjoy some light humour. The latter especially if they take climate change as fact and cycling as part of the solution. Your sleeping. An incessant tap on your shoulder draws you from your slumber. Dickens ghost of Xmas to come takes you firmly by the hand. All the way to 2050.Note he doubles as scie…

I'm currently on a quest to buy some missing ingredients to make simple cookies, will probably happen sometime this week. I already have recipes and directions to make simple sugar cookies. But I don't have much of have cooking and baking experience. I know I just gotta watch cookies in oven bake to golden from time to time within mentioned 8-10 minutes (of course presumably dependent on amount of cookie made) or so instead of following the timing solely. My goal is to make the best default cookies ever. 😜

TLDR-: student who feels like doing nothing eg not like to even read a page during some days. Used to happen a lot during exams. Is happening since 15 days, visited doctor, started taking meds. Meds might be doing their work. I need some guidance and advice that I might be missing. 1) I am Computer Engineering student and burnout is really a huge issue for me. I keep getting burn out(IDK the exact word for this tbh). I feel exhausted. I feel fed up studying. It feels like a brain fog. I don't feel like opening my textbook or watching video. I don't want to do anything at all. I instead browse reddit, watch youtube videos to pass my time. I feel so resistant to study…

Having helped crewed a three masted barquentine from Panama to Sydney in 1974, I have somewhat of a love of the sea, and the awesome nature that it brings for mankind to conquer. An annual yacht race takes place on Boxing day from Sydney to Hobart, a distance of 1170 kms, crossing the notorious Bass Straight..... This year has provided some very choppy seas which has played havoc with the 86 yachts this year, seeing more then 36 yachts retire...... Some extraordinary photos on some of the yachts after leaving Sydney Harbour over the years. Sadly though, Six men died, five boats sank and 55 sailors were rescued during the 1998 spectacle when a deep depres…

Last year a report was released on UFO's/UAP's https://interestingengineering.com/government-ufo-report-military-taking-it-seriously It was of course nothing more then the same old, same old, in that some sightings are unexplained/unidentified at this time. Nothing new here. But there was I believe one factual assumption, that was while these so called "incursions" into a nation's air space, in the manner that they are/have been happening, ( you know, mysteriously flittering in and flittering out again, kidnapping individuals and conducting medical experiments etc) they can be seen as a threat to national security, due to their unknown nature. If they are Alien…

A subjective debate/discussion certainly but imo dogs win by a country mile! I must admit I have never had a cat, but do have good friends who do have them. Dogs are a man's best friend, they are a companion, they are a mate! I have had over my lifespan of 76 years, a Labrador, a German Shepard, and two Rotweillers, My last Rotty named Rocky lived until he was 13.5 years old...a pretty good age for that breed. He was unbelievable! I once spied a couple of Seven Day Adventists doing the rounds, coming down the street, and decided to put Rocky and the front porch, and told him to sit and stay. As they approached our gate and started to open, he stood up and gave one almight…

Recently bought some 10 x 42 binoculars to have a little gaze around my neighbourhood and I already have a multimeter to test out voltage in my house and in batteries. What are some other fun not to pricey gadgets that are fun to have around? I was also thinking of getting some night vision goggles...

I'm a big fan of the history of WW2. Recently I saw Fury for the second time and think it is a great movie and recommend it to anyone interested in WW2. There are a few problems I have with the film and wish it could be redone. The ending was wrong, along with a few other things. I became obsessed with this. So I set to formulate a plan for a disabled Sherman tank, and only 5 guys, to defend against an attack by 300 SS troops on the supply lines for a division of US troops. I became emotionally involved with my plan. I'm good at visualizing things. The mission was of great importance so you have to give your life for it if necessary. The movie could have bee…

I was thinking, if you really enjoy science and you want a science career that you might really enjoy, you could teach. All too often people who go into science careers get boring jobs. A good friend of mine whose really smart and whose got a doctorate in chemical engineering is working for a technology company where he's coating microchips. He makes really good money doing that but its just the same thing over and over again day in and day out, coating chips, so he is a bit bored with his job. I was thinking though, teaching can be a really fun job where you actually learn something every day because, after all, you learn the most from teaching. So I would think, teachin…

The attachement from the international libraries association is self explanatory. Although not specifically for scientific matters I thought it was particularly well presented and a good candidate as a sticky on this site.

Was just wondering why so many seem more aware of these in Europe. In some cases here one can receive a discount if using debit or cash, but largely limited to vending and fuel.

If you could, lets say you have been granted limited god status, and all you can do is bring back 4 extinct animals in large enough numbers to establish a breeding population, what would they be and why? Anomalocaris, because they are big and look delicious. Ichthyosaur, Because I'd like to see how they interact with dolphins. The smaller species. Liopleurodon, small species, because i'd like to see them interact with dolphins as well. Woolly Mammoth, because I hope they can genetically engineer one the size of a small pony so I can own one.

If you have extra belongings that you need to put somewhere, would you ask a friend, ask your parents, use a Commercial storage company, or just throw them out? I have heard storage companies are now being used extensively by the average household and businesses. Do you think this is a good idea? How safe is using a storage provider?

So, I have written up something entitled "Technique in Discussion: Hypercubing." For what I recall, the user Genecks had relayed to a scienceforums.net user to not worry about his/her issue because Genecks was an authority on such; Genecks claimed to be an authority on such because Genecks beat hypercube in five seconds. I think that's the general idea of what happened in Genecks' post. I have not been able to use the search feature to find the relevant posts. Personally, based on my contracts "expertise," I do not think a valid contract occurred, be that Genecks were to need to remedy the user were something to go awry with the user's worries: Something like that. …
