I can only think of two possible answers 1. YES. There is empty space and everything that exists in the Universe is surrounded by empty space/nothingness. If we define a variable a = b * c. Where b and c are independent, unrelated variables and b is not zero. Can we then say with confidence that if we change c, a will change ? When I mentioned that I thought the theory of particles moving through spacetime didn't intuitively sound right. Strange asked me post something in speculations with math. Unfortunately I don't have the math background to do that. But I did find a book by John A Macken that was saying basically the same thing I was think of.
