Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Alright, forget bout crispr, there is never going to be a time where crispr can modify every single parts of the body and at a precise location. That gives two methods which is currently science fiction based. 1. Modify DNA with optogenetics. Simple as that, we got the light tweezer, we target a cell, and we use light to "cut" and "piece" together DNA to the desire strands we want. We either use one laser to modify every single cells in a fast pace, or have multiple beams that modify all cells at once. In other words it won't drift too far apart from magnetic field control. 2. Modify DNA with nanomachines Well, talk about advancement in machinery in th…

The goal of this paper is to provide a pragmatic solution to every problem we experience on our planet today. The idea is very simple. Everything we do should be done from the premise of, "I genuinely want what is best for myself and the planet." This means doing everything within the power of the individual to genuinely strive towards manifesting their "higher self" into this world. Practically speaking, this would mean forgiving anybody who has wronged you; spending more time with your children; travelling to the coast; taking that new job; starting a new hobby; learning about a new subject; standing up to whoever makes you feel guilty; confronting whoever makes y…

  4. So if you believe Hubble, and you accept that Einstein was wrong, why do you fight that Einstein was right? Make sense people, and bye the way Einstein DID CERTAINLY PREDICT THAT the gravitational attraction would cause all matter to collapse into a single point. https://www.space.com/31055-removing-cosmological-constant-was-the-blunder.html One of the early implications is that because all matter attracts all other matter, a static universe would not long remain static. The gravitational attraction would cause all matter to collapse into a single point. And even if one did not start with a static universe, the mass distribution of the universe should evol…

I am referring to the possibility that time dilation is the mechanism by which we see not only gravity but also inertia. A metaphoric experiment if you will that describes this mechanism. Suppose we had a kiddie train track 100 m long. We place a student school desk that has track wheels attached to it on the track. We attach a digital timer to the desk and of course a drive mechanism that can maintain a constant velocity. On the track we place two switches that are some distance apart. The first turns the digital timer on and the second turns it off. We put a student in the desk and tell him how far apart the switches are and the total mass of his system. We ask the …

  7. Hawking radiation derives energy from the black hole(to put it simply). Would we be able to test for the existence of a singularity inside of a black hole by looking at How powerful the Hawking Radiation is at the Event Horizon? I was curious because if a one-dimensional point of infinite density emits Hawking Radiation differently then a given amount of mass at the center of a black hole that has volume due to the distance required for Hawking radiation to "travel?" from the "surface" of the mass to the event horizon. If I'm right about what I just said above(I'm probably not. Someone correct me), then this would be how we could test it: Larger black …

  9. When I studied relativity I didn't like it because it was not logical. Time dilation? Length contraction? Curved space-time? I had some ideas to explain things differently, but only now, after 25-30 years, armed with new knowledge, I finally obtained a simple, phenomenological theory/model that makes time dilation, curved space-time, frame-dragging, twin paradox and all other peculiar things predicted by Einstein's relativity, and confirmed by experiments, easy to understand. My theory agrees with mainstream relativity in term of results (the math is the same, for now), but is not just a mathematical model that works ... The main idea is that the constancy of …

    - The wavelength of light doesn't change at all in the galaxies because the space of the galaxies doesn't expand. - The wavelength of light should be different when it passes through the galaxy or not. However, this is contradictory to the observed result. So, the big bang theory is wrong. The space except galaxy clusters expands during lights pass through the clusters which do not expand. The present expansion ratio of space during lights pass through the cluster of 10 million light years size is H0 x 10 7 years = 7.25x10-4. This ratio corresponds to the variation of wavelength of light (λ2/λ1) in the space except clusters. Hubble constant is estimated as H…

  11. Hello If we are alone in the universe then it is for a reason.Humans would not be a banality in a big universe. And our life will have an important meaning and an important role in this universe.the universe is a perfect organization of information so can humans be the organizers of this information.can organize all the information (Molecules) of the universe with the help of machines for example nanothechnology to change the universe into a livable place. Link removed by mod: as per Rule 2.7And if humans go to infinity then God would be an infinite human civilization.

  15. Long time ago (late 80's), attending a course about relativity at the university, when the Fizeau experiment was presented as an experimental proof for relativity, I thought: "this can be explained in another way, because, clearly, the number of molecules encountered by the ray of light propagating in the same direction as the water stream is smaller than the number encountered by the ray of light opposite to the direction of the water stream", but the course went on, compelling evidence was presented, so I didn't pursue my idea ... until the autumn of 2011, when "faster than light neutrino" news shook relativity. I learned next year that OPERA results were wrong (due to …

Hello, I have a question regarding uniform motion and Special Relativity. How can the first postulate of Special Relativity hold on to inertial frames of references when these three statements have to be accounted for: 1- “In an inertial frame of reference an object either remains at rest or continues to move at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by a force.” Newtons first law. 2 - “The laws of physics are the same in all inertial frames of reference.” First postulate of Special Relativity. 3- “When the theory matches the facts radiation transfers inertial mass between emitting and absorbing objects” A. Einstein. …

In Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxy_rotation_curve the flat curves of the observed velocities of stars in the discs of spiral galaxies are presented, which according to physicists, differ significantly from calculated velocities of stars, resulting from the luminous mass of a given galaxy. Such a significant discrepancy between the observed and calculated velocity of stars in spiral galaxies is currently explained in scientific publications, by the alleged presence of an unvisible halo of some mysterious dark matter. For example, in the textbook James B. Hartle "Gravity. An Introduction to Einstein's General Relativity " states that…

Hello, my name is Shagrat, and I had taken Earth Science classes at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. At that time, what I had learned in those classes had inspired me to create an alternate Earth, with geographic and geological features different from Earth's but still inspired by them. The problem I have is that I know only the Cause--i.e. the changing of the geography--and not the Effect (how the changes in geography influence landscape, climate and weather). I have the whole description written down, but before I show you the description, if it is not too much trouble, would you be willing to help me with feedback and advice on the changes I had made? Than…

Why is time something and not just a measurement used by intellectual beings? We use it to determine the length of a period in which something exists. On the other hand existence is occupied by all. Existence is all. Time is ours. Existence is predictable. Intelligence agency's use this to predict events and activities using information from the past and present to determine the possible scenarios. So if you can predict the future events with any amount of accuracy you can place yourself ahead of time by time moving and not you. If the period of time is predicted then you can prevent it by creating events prior too the time that you want to change. You can also predict th…

So I was wondering if all the planets have magnetic fields. Then I noticed that the planets with the magnetic field have an atmosphere. As the density of the atmosphere increases so does the magnetic field. What if the movement of the planet and atmosphere are what causes this? Static electricity shows that when matter separates there is an attraction of the electrons and if the matter is correct it will give up an electron. This would be a magnetic attraction between none magnetic material correct? So when something is moving it creates a lower density behind it like drafting. This lower density has less total electrical properties. In electricity the higher the voltage …

Why dont we use science to stop Hurricanes? We make bombs to kill people why cant be make them to save them? If a designer bomb was place in the correct spot at the right time of a hurricanes development, could it be possible to destabilize the pressure balance thats going on in there? The eye is 20 to 40 miles wide when a hurricane is in effect. If an explosion were placed in this low pressure area before it develops how could it continue to develop if the whole reason why its there is now gone. Picture a whirlpool of air. Whirlpools can be caused by how the water swirls around an object. No hurricanes move towards the equator. Instead it appears as if its swirling aroun…

  24. I think I have proven that what's usually accepted as bijection and cardinality is all wrong, and nobody seems to believe me or care.. what should I do ? I know you don't easily reject old accepted ideas, but can you at least really think about it ? First : bijection between two infinite set are not true, they are UNDECIDABLE. When you build a bijection, it is true only when you don't get a new element from one of the sets or both, not just when you can still get elements from the sets. So with 2 infinite set, the bijection is NEVER proven true, because you can always get new elements from both. It just keep infinitely UNDECIDABLE. So you can NEVER prove a bijection…

Recently I was reading about the Carnivore Diet and the various claims people make about it curing depression, ADD, and etc. I do not advocate the Carnivore Diet nor am I on, have ever been on, or am even considering going on the Carnivore Diet. My question is to what extend does our diet, any healthy diet, impact our mind. Obviously inadequate nutrition can impairs brain function but assuming one is adequately nourished with a healthy combination of fat, protein, sugar, salt, vitamins, minerals, and so on how much impact does the source of nutrition have on behavior, personality, and mood? I have found some literature on the subject relating to children but not adults.
