Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.

Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Тemperaments used to be determined by the predominance of fluids in the blood sediment. That is, literally by the composition of the blood. Was this method actually working? If not, why this classification was taken just from there? I think it is evidence that method works

Hello all, I'm new to this forum, and my purpose for posting here is to introduce a new system of physical theory to forum readers, for what it's worth. It's not that it hasn't been published/discussed previously, and it didn't originate with me, but I have applied it for years to develop an alternative physical theory to the standard model theory of particle physics, and I would like to receive informed feedback to the issues it raises here, if you don't mind. As you can imagine, it's a huge and very esoteric topic, not something one's friends and non-professional associates are anxious to engage. Since I am not a professional physicist myself however, I don't…

  4. That just makes for a strong statement. One person's testimony in a court of law is not conclusive, but might be admitted as evidence. If sarcasm is present, if by tone only, mockery is present. Agree. Published research was anecdotal before being peer reviewed. Peer review is more supportive evidence. . . . What I'm leading up to is this: the only objective argument begins justified and proceeds justified. If you begin with a theory, you can't finish justified if relative anecdotal evidence (sic) is dismissed. Establish it as not relative before proceeding.

  5. I start with a fictional example of the topic being discussed, partly because the whole Internet's talking about this show in anticipation of a new installment coming out next year, but partly because naming any real-life examples would make people far more focused on the confounding factors in their supposed attractiveness or lack thereof. WARNING: Vulgar language in linked image. https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/821341-neon-genesis-evangelion So this meme is satirizing the in-show attraction female characters have to Shinji Ikari, the protagonist of the Japanese anime NGE. Shinji isn't exactly your stereotypical macho man. He refuses t…

  7. Levels Of Understanding For The Human Visual Experience 1) Naive Realism Level: When we were young and Naive we looked out at the World and assumed that the Visual Experience that we were Seeing was what the External World actually looked like. We did not think Deeper about what this Visual Experience actually could be. It was so simple then, we just looked out into the World and thought we Saw the World as it was. As we examined our Visual Experiences we could See that the different Objects out there had different Colors. We thought that the Colors were a direct Property of the things that we were Looking at. At this Level we thought our Visual Experience was painted…

Has anyone ever felt the need to address this question in a public forum "crawling" with thinkers whom desire for their research to be published in the Hope's of Fame and Gain?? Think twice please! You should always have your work copyrighted "published and dated" eleswhere and never share your science model or its description until you do so.. I know Youtube does a great job "publishing your work" and its best to keep the date in your records to show you had the idea first! Many science forums have "systems" that is systematically" engineered to make you feel "dumb and worthless" thus making you "submissive" or hopeless to share your out of the box th…

  9. Dear all, I have been hearing abut how the body (gradually) replaces dead tissue, and replaces it with new tissue. Apparently, the whole body finishes replacing itself every 7 years! So this is my question. Do chromosomes replace themselves like the body cells do? (I think I already know the answer, but I want an in-depth explanation please:). Please get back to me on this. Yours sincerely, Salik Imran, 13.

Hi, There is a YouTube video that suppose to show a scientific experiment with a helicopter that proves that the earth is not flat. The experiment shows that the helicopter is vanish when it goes under the horizon which is something that cannot occur on the flat earth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVa2UmgdTM4 It looks very impressive, but someone in another YouTube channel noticed something very strange... in two different parts of this video you see the helicopter once when it is under the horizon, and once when its above it, but the frame and the background is exactly the same! Including the birds that are flying there! Now it's very hard for me t…

Proposal for solution to String Theory: When photons are propelled through space what’s left is time. Distance is space over time. Space without time is not a normal vector and vice versa. Distance=space (teleportation) and distance= time (time freeze) In theory, quantum tunneling and teleportation would suggest that photon particles, though they seem like consistent and steady particles, are subject to a momentary flux (a flicker) in energy in a vacuum; thus meaning they are not uniform or self-sustaining like relativity would suggest. This effect however, would be very rare and happen so quickly, that it would not …

It is proposed here to represent the quantum distribution of atomic orbitals in an unprecedented table where the quantum shells and subshells are drawn in the form of chevrons whose vertices are occupied by orbitals with the magnetic quantum number m = 0. This new representation visually shows, much better than a classic linear chart, the relationship between the number of quantum shells and the number of orbitals . Also, this new visual model can be easily used in the individual quantum depiction of the atoms represented alone or into molecules and can find its place in illustration of some two-dimensional space-time quantum theories. Finally, this graphic representation…

In my years of study and questioning the ideas of science that effect our world, especially the environment I "always" come across scientist whom for "political reasoning" need to bash others with discriminate words and other "in-direct" or """passive""" insults that brake forum rules systamatically to "diverge" the very fact that scientist have not one clue of what they speak of when dealing with out of the box thinkers" and authentic reasoning... There is no such thing as a dumb question as there is no such thing as absolute concepts.. 15. I am here today to post details of a design for an Anti-Gravity Drive and ask this question: Does the Anti-Gravity drive as described defy the laws of physics? The work has been viewed by no less than eight professionals in the field. I believe some of these professionals only took a superficial look at the work, but some of them were required to take a fairly deep dive. To date, none of them have been prepared to identify specifically the mistake that I’ve made which has led to what is asserted to be an erroneous conclusion. As a designer, if there is no reason not to proceed, one proceeds. Failure is an unavoidable feature of design. Depending on how y…

  16. Some People Might Not Have Conscious Experiences I have always assumed that all normally functioning Human Minds would have at least similar kinds of Conscious Experiences. I have thought this for decades. But after many years of discussions about this with people it has finally become clear to me that some people actually must not have Conscious Experiences or Qualia. I limit this observation to things like the Experience of Redness, the Standard A Tone, the Salty Taste and so on. The Experience of Colors and especially the Experience of Redness has been a major target for my discussions with people on the various Philosophy of Mind and Consciousness Forums. There ar…

Conscious Experience Is A Type Of Data Scientists can describe the Neural Activity that occurs in the Brain when we See. But they seem to be completely puzzled by the Conscious Visual experience that we have that is correlated with the Neural Activity. Incredibly, some even come to the conclusion that the Conscious experience is not even necessary! They can not find the Conscious experience in the Neurons so the experience must not have any function in the Visual process. They believe that the Neural Activity is sufficient for us to move around in the world without bumping into things. This is insane denial of the obvious purpose for Visual Consciousness. Neural Activ…

  19. To my surprise science could never explain how the universe works if it is governed by some underlying intelligence. That would be misunderstanding the 'everything'. Where are the limits of everything? Technological only? Science should be able to determine whether the functioning of the universe is random or governed by an intelligent force that rules our universe. 20. I have tried discussing this before but my threads are always shut down. After shutting the last one down I got a message for the admins saying I should lead with the evidence. Well the first thing you need to read is this: https://writings.stephenwolfram.com/2020/04/finally-we-may-have-a-path-to-the-fundamental-theory-of-physics-and-its-beautiful/ The big bang has had its time, everytime the data has falisfied it, its been saved by adding a modern day epicycle, inflation and dark matter being examples of this, there is no underlying reason for them they are just there to balance the equations. The LHC has produced nothing new and scientists say nature is n…

I recently watched a Netflix Documentary called Human Nature which discusses how CRISPR is being used and could be further used to edit human genes. I found many of the ethical questions raised difficult to parse. I also found the prospect of the human genome being possibly polluted with superficial edits made out of vanity, bias, or per ignorance terrifying. I put this in speculation to open the discussion up to include peoples hopes, fears, ethical concerns, etc are for human gene editing.

  22. In trying to figure out what space is made of, there is this interesting clue. The speed of light c shows up in special relativity equations, the Einstein equations, DeBroglie wavelength and the basic wave equation c = lambda*f. One might infer the existence of a mechanism that has the speed of light built into, in such a way, that it leads to modern physics equations and spacetime geometry.

Theory of the Speed of Light By Francisco Gómez Paulet For many years, there has been a mystery in physics which has not yet been solved. The speed of light never varies, we always get the same result. For example, if a light-emitting spotlight is moving towards a device which measures the speed of light at a rate of 1000m/s, the logical conclusion would be to think that the result would be the speed of light plus the speed of the spotlight, or 301,000 m/s, but this is not the case. The result remains the same with no change seen: 300,000 m/s. The explanation for this phenomenon is very simple. Movement as we know it does not actually exist in the uni…

  24. I've been watching episodes of Star Trek NG, and I wonder why we can't do some of those things. Technologies like the Alcubierre drive, tractor beams, and other forms of propulsion that seem to defy physics as we understand it, could be achieved if we understood the mechanisms that create spacetime, better. There is talk about unifying quantum mechanics with general relativity; but in my opinion, we should be unifying those things with big bang cosmology as well. I am an arch chair physics enthusiast who gets to think about these questions from a point of view of being very motivated to achieve the Star Trek kinds of technology. It is my opinion that what holds us ba…
