Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

So, What is the evolutionary impact of evil? I know that one would argue it is not evolutionary but just an occurence of choice over instinct, but I think that is pretty wrong... Like atleast what are the evolutionary benefits and negative advantages? I imagine it is something to the extent of a evolutionary blocker of 'too much good' like with inbreeding... Or it is just like a cancer hanging onto humanity from there having been huge survival advantages at times in being 'evil' or cheating and stealing from others ect...

Hi folks. I finally found my formulas. Thank you, Mordred, for your early help and decent, courteous, replies. What is happening is this: Time evolves space, and spatial events, forward at c in the forward direction of time. Densities in space, masses, slow that evolution and their velocities are how time keeps them up with the rest of the continuum. Since orbital velocity, VO, = √(GM/R), the time dilation formulas for orbital velocities are derived from the gravitational time dilation formula, T0 = T√1 – (2GM/Rc2), which contains the velocity formula, by substituting VO for GM/R, i.e.: T0 = T√1 – ((2/c2)(VO)), resulting in: …

I’m positing this post about time as a hypothesis for consideration only. If it needs to be moved to a more appropriate place please do so. The current accepted model of time is that it’s linked to space called the space time continuum. But instead of it being seen a fabric of space time, what if time is just attracted to gravity just like matter is? My hypothetical view of time being attracted to gravity suggests that time becomes denser the closer time is to large masses in a similar way the atmosphere is denser closer to earth. Im proposing that time takes longer to pass through closer to earth because it’s denser than time in space. …

  4. Im 37, and when i was really young (6 or 7) i had a couple ideas. Some of those ideas are real things now, but the idea for perpetual energy i had has not, or so i think. I tried to find anything similar on the web, but could not, so i'm here asking questions. I know because of friction, this isnt actually perpetual motion, but i wanna share my idea and see if anybody has tried this before, or heard of anything like it. My idea used a mostly closed system and im going to try and explain it as well as i can. Think of the way a turbo works in a car, a small fan, is connected to a bigger fan and the air current it squeezed and amplified making the small one spin faster,…

  5. Can someone give a meaningful explanation that the relative speed of two oppositely directed light beams is why only one light speeds? I understand that based on the Einstein relativity theory, the relative speed of two beams is C, because nothing can be quicker than light speed. However it is not an explanation, because based on Euclidean geometry, their relative velocities should be 2C. It seems a paradox, because the two rules give different result. Is there explanation that resolves this contradiction?

  7. So I have been trying to make sense of what space-time is from a practical point view. I thought of sharing with you some thoughts that came to my mind. 1). The fabric of space must be made out of the smallest wave-like phenomenon. Since this is so tiny, think of it as the smallest particle. These particles (or let's call it a field), fill the entire universe. 2). When we place a heavy particle in this field, the particle would pull this field/the fabric of space (that acts as if it a spring) in every direction towards the particle and that's based on the mass of the particle that we place in this field. This pulling force that exerts on the spring, would depen…

  8. Object of this post is to ask: what are all existing contemporary theories of underlying causes of depression, not limited to 1 field of science?! I Am looking especially for these, which are currently accepted in scientific circles. So far I found 2 theories. It is important to state that I Am not some anti-medication whacko, I wrote description of theories, so I had to include my claims and sources . I Am currently pressed by time: I can include more sources later, links below contain hundreds of references enjoy! Probably most known - Chemical imbalance theory, which was never accepted in Psychiatric circles in the first place! And is nothing, bu…

  11. I know I will get bombarded by tons of people, get yelled at, and get defamed, but please note that I post this based on my speculation with good faith. To begin with about consciousness, you will have to take note of a few things, the body is consisted of neurons and electrical signals, sure there are other things like muscle, but muscle cannot think for you. It goes down to neurons and electrical signals, you will ask yourself, does your consciousness exist in the neurons, or does it exist in the electrical signals? The answer is, since the electrical signal/current flows through our body, but the consciousness is only in the brain, not anywhere else. The electrica…

I do not know if this post belongs in Speculations, but it matched the reason I write this now. I was watching "Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse" right now, for no reason at all, and it mentioned this massive "collider" device that could bring information, matter, and energy through different parallel universes. (By parallel universes, I mean the multiverse theory, where when you make a choice an alternate dimension is created housing the consequences and results of the other choice). I began to think about the implications of such a device; when the antagonist (the one who leads the project for the "collider") came up with the idea of the reactor, there had to be a …

  13. Now when we turn on a computer, it provides this hardware architecture with electricity so we can play games and listen to music on it. The brain is a bit similar to a computer and that the thalamus could be the one generating this main hardware architecture with electrical signal in the way of a waveform. The problem is I do not see how the consciousness arise from this waveform because it is just a wave and I sure think the computer is not conscious being something capable of generating an identical waveform through its hardware architecture(or any circuits with an output Q in that matter). So how does the consciousness arise from within the thalamus? Please let me know…

Hello, I got the following idea from the observartion of a gravity well, like this one: https://youtu.be/mgZ84NAW0zU I'd like to know the opinion of a physicist about this. This is a naive, crazy, intuitive, outrageous new perspective on gravity and possibly quantum gravity. It's an out-of-the-box thinking experiment. It's the kind of thing that may be overlooked by highly specialized scientists. Please, go past the first assertion. Is this thing even mathematically viable? Here it goes: 1.There's no such thing as a gravitational interaction between masses composed of "normal" matter . Rather, each mass composed of normal matter in o…

These "artifacts" have been found in coal seams and other places and seem to suggest a civilization well before humans on this planet. Here is an example. https://www.booksfact.com/archeology/300-million-years-old-cast-iron-cup-oklahoma.html Obviously pseudo science aficionados are attracted to these objects but I have an odd piece of coal I've been carrying around from place to place for many years. Ita rectangle about 16" long and 8" wide. The proportions are so close to perfect no diciations from being made of square angles can be distinguished, the edges are rounded off some but the faces are spot on for a man object but it's made of coal and I found it …

We got black holes from Relativity; it was Carl Schwarzschild’s solutions of Relativity that gave us black holes. Let’s step back from what Relativity says for a moment to recognize what Relativity is. Einstein’s Relativity was born of Galileo’s Relativity (better articulated by Newton… -that there are no privileged inertial frames of reference) mixed with the “constancy of light speed” (-that all observers measure light to move at the same speed irrespective of relative motion); Lorentz transformations already existed at the time, the real innovation of Relativity was taking all observations seriously, making time and space malleable whereas in Newtonian Physics …

  21. Since I am a Russian ufologist and at the same time a physicist, I can explain a little on this issue. From the stories of those people who were taken to UFOs and told about their propulsion drives and power devices. From their stories follows the following: Aliens get their energy from ionized radiation in outer space, that is, from cosmic radiation. UFOs are equipped with special devices that collect cosmic radiation and convert it into electricity. Something similar to our solar panels on Earth, only they collect ionizing radiation. After that, they either charge their batteries or direct electricity to the ship's propulsion system for moving in space. 😉

If you could make a "u" shape wormhole and mount it so both ends of the wormhole are side by side at one end of a tube, and then accelerate a mass from the other end of the tube through the wormhole so it comes right back to where it started... Does conservation of momentum still hold? When the projectile is launched, the tube gets accelerated opposite the projectile, and when the projectile lands the tube gets accelerated in the same direction as the projectile so all the forces act together to accelerate the tube without reaction mass. Or...

  25. So I traced the D1 loop back to its origin, which is the substantia nigra connecting to the reticular formation(brainstem) of the midbrain all the way down to the medulla oblongata region. Why is reticular formation interesting? Because it governs all the reflex action such as breathing, heart beat, consciousness, and sneezing. The way it generates consciousness is it provides dopaminergic signal to the striaum through the substantia nigra of the D1 loop(how I trace it back to reticular formation) and provides a constant beat of signal. My question: How are the nuclei(group of neurons) in the reticular formation capable of providing(generating) a precise signal …
