I am looking to find out it leaves from both Piper betel and moringa trees posses any antibacterial properties. I will be testing them against: E.coli, staphylococcus aureus, enterobacteriaceae, acinetobacter baumannii, pseudomonas aeruginosa, salmonella and clostridioides difficile. I would like to hear some opinions on how to easily and quickly test both MIC and MBC. Thank you

Hey all. After watching one serial (actually anime) I captured by the idea of full immersion. What is personality? What is reality? "When you walked through a park, the immersive world that surrounded you was something that existed inside your own brain as a pattern of neurons firing. The sensation of a bright blue sky wasn't something high above you, it was something in your visual cortex, and your visual cortex was in the back of your brain. All the sensations of that bright world were really happening in that quiet cave of bone you called your skull, the place where you lived and never, ever left. If you really wanted to say hello to someone, to the actual p…

Hi all, I came across a very interesting publication about Free Will: In short: https://newsroom.unsw.edu.au/news/science-tech/our-brains-reveal-our-choices-we%E2%80%99re-even-aware-them-study and the publication itself: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-39813-y Just one thing I didn't understand from what written there, what was the accuracy of the prediction? They say that they could predict what people will consciously chose about 11 seconds before they choose it (which sounds amazing!) but in what accuracy? 70% of the times? 85% of the times? Please let me know if you find this information, Thanks!

Hi, I have a theory that you get tired when it's hot because there is less oxygen in hot air than in cool air. Is this why you get tired or are there other factors?

Hi I want to investigate the dangers of music. I found statements on the web of various people about the dangers of music. But I 'm doubtful about them . Are the following statements about the dangers of music is true ? Are these statements confirmed in medicine ? 1. Dr Luther says: “The effect of songs and music in anesthetizing the nerves is stronger than the effect of drugs.” Explanation: Sometimes numbness comes by food. For example alcoholic drinks create great numbness in the nerves and render ineffective the power of thinking and senses. Sometimes something is inhaled through the nose that creates numbness; for example heroine, …

hi I am weak in English I used the language translator Please tell the truth And please do not say bias Is this true about music? Is it proven in the medical world? The text below is a statement by a religious expert and a few doctors about the damage to the music ""They are not ready to study the evil and pernicious effects of music. To the extent that the people who are realistic are not content to this condition also, and in spite of those things being common they always endeavor to understand the reality and are engaged in research. Music from many viewpoints is worth investigation. (1)>>>>>> The f…

I have been using imagej for quantification of my fluorescence signal and found that while thresholding my images, one tissue sample will capture all of my signal while another will capture my slim to none of my signal. I know what my signal looks like compared to my background. I have determined my threshold value, by thresholding a negative control so no signal is detected. Unfortunately, this excludes weaker signal and has, therefore, does not give me the best and most accurate results. I have tried to subtract background, but that doesn’t fix my actual problem of normalizing my pictures so I can compare them. Thank you for any help. I have attached a few of my im…

Hey, i am in chronic pain and i can't do anything which involves thinking, because my head hurts, or doing mechanically, because i have repetitive strain injury and i am bored as hell, literally that bored as you can be, absolutely bored... And i am suffering from existential boredom and i think life is pointless, so i don't find anything interesting and meaningful and i don't feel pleasure, or content from doing anything and i thing free will is illusion, so there is that, but still, if i could do anything i would, because it is still better, than do nothing, but i can't. So i wonder if there are some pills to not feel boredom, or some method. Where i could ju…

We have all seen optical illusions, but auditory illusions are a bit rarer. Here is an example I remember reading about years ago. Hearing a spoken phrase repeatedly can make it sound as if it is sung. And after that, you can't hear it as not being sung! http://deutsch.ucsd.edu/psychology/pages.php?i=212 (This is also a good example of experimental method because of the various ways they demonstrate that the effect is real and the same for multiple listeners.)

This is something I have experienced for as long as I can remember and possibly why I have taken it for granted. However, if I hurt myself, from popping a spot (zit) to cracking my shin on a table, it is immediately followed by the taste of blood in my mouth (or iron if you like). It seems to happen if the pain is abrupt and sharp. The reason this question was prompted was due to an accident involving a stubborn fitting and a spanner. There is a wealth of information on tasting blood due to intense exercise but not when injuring yourself (except for severe head injuries). I have found only one Reddit thread where others have experienced the same and there's some hand…

I am trying to screen around 600 different compounds to see if any will have antagonist properties on the human notch1 receptor, which is permenantly activated resulting in a tumor. I will be adding the max concentrations of the different compounds to the cancer tumor cells, all done on 96 well plates. The problem is how to measure the response from the different compounds. I believe the notch receptors, when activated, can be measured by gene expression. However i can not seem to find a suitable assay that will show me which compounds has inhibited the receptor. I am willing to spend around £700 for the assay. If anyone has any suggestions they will b…

Hi, This source:https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/317511.php says that: When the body is dehydrated, the brain can temporarily contract or shrink from fluid loss. This mechanism causes the brain to pull away from the skull, causing pain and resulting in a dehydration headache. I wonder why the brain pulls away from the skull and why that hurts.
