Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. I know this has been discussed a bit, I myself was reading the article about the relativity dispute: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relativity_priority_dispute I just wanted to understand maybe in greater detail, what did Pincare's theory not predict correctly, (except the E=mc^2 part, which off course is no small detail). I am not asking about a comparison between the two (regarding reference times), I am asking what would the theory incorrectly predict.

Does anyone know anything about this version of warp drive? It has a very nice youtube video with great graphics and animation but little real information. This is about the only serious discussion of it but i can't really say I understand it. http://aip.scitation.org/doi/abs/10.1063/1.2437558 Fluid Dynamic Simulations of Warp Drive Flight Through Negative Pressure Zero‐Point Vacuum

  4. Hello. Recently I’ve made a series of the biggest discoveries in physics. First of all I proved the erroneousness of using the Joule as the unit of measure for Work and Energy and the erroneousness of the “current” formula for Work and Energy. Please, read about it on Medium: link removed (3 min read) link removed (5 min read) Also, please, read “The biggest discoveries in physics” on Medium: link removed (30 min read) These discoveries completely change our understanding of the universe and give us access to a new colossal clean Energy. I will answer all the questions that arise.

I did answer to people on their questions. It's not the spam! Do you see the difference? How can I answer to them in else way during the first day if I get more than 5 questions? Then limit questions .(your rules are ... not well) I presented to you the biggest discoveries in physics? THE BIGGEST DISCOVERIES EVER THESE DISCOVERIES COMPLETELY CHANGE OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE UNIVERSE AND GIVE US THE ACCESS TO NEW COLOSSAL CLEAN ENERGY. Why no one reads the link: https://goo.gl/1q9HaU No ONE cares? As I has said before, -- Unfortunately the whole text is too big to be put here. Are here smart people? Please, read the links: https://go…

  7. Hello forum, I have many friends that love science but they believe a lot of pseudoscience as well. I see this article popping all over my feed. I read it, there is not much data so it's not so clear but still... Please share your thoughts on this... http://www.thescinewsreporter.com/2018/04/break-researchers-at-cern-break-speed.html Hope this isn't an April fools joke

As introduced, special relativity provided an account for the results of the Michelson–Morley experiments. Einstein's theories for the photoelectric effect extended the quantum the…

Okay I don’t have a scientific background but a question that has bugged me for weeks now. if we travel the speed of sound and an object was dropped, the sound would never catch us right? could this principle be used for light? this later lead me to research a lot about black holes as originally I thought that a black hole could just be the end of light. However over time I reasearched into black holes, if we have a force such as electro magnetic force which is considerably greater than gravity then this could affect light in ways which we see. Therefor it took me on a learning experience. What if electro magnetism created the dark m…

Perhaps dark energy/cosmic expansion is simply an affect of a big crunch? Allow me to elucidate: When a 'crunch' condenses below its Schwarzchild Radius, I propose a duality is formed, being the Lorentz Transform imaginary (complex number) values associated with <Sr distances. We know time = 0 at an event horizon; therefore, beneath this 'boundary', t becomes a dualistic positive/negative ..... basically, the inner convergence co-manifests as retrograde, outriding expansion. This suggests our universe may indeed be cyclic /wavicle like, and delightfully explains why the expansion rate is steadily increasing, as the condensing crunch would produce exponetially increas…

  13. There are the lower, basic emotions such as a feeling of excitement from getting a new movie, feeling sexually aroused, or a feeling of panic from being in a dangerous situation. I think we call these emotions the instinctive emotions. These emotions are actually the perception of value. In other words, they are mental states where we perceive things, moments, people, and situations as beautiful, horrible, good, bad, or disgusting depending on which emotion we feel. I have come up with a formula that attempts to translate emotions into value. Our pleasant emotions are the reward wanting and liking in the brain. When you want and like something, this means it …

For years I believed Positive and Negative were the main Duality of this world. Recently however, I begun believing Male and Female is the main deeply rooted Duality. Male and female does NOT necessarily mean Man and Woman in this case. Including Neutral, everything we do or experience falls under one of these three categories. A Star is the symbol of the Female while a black hole is the male symbo; one is to give in abundance while the other is to take. F attuned people are friendly and work together with other F people and is the modern style. M is more about competing with everyone and everything demanding domination, older style. In other words, what I the…

  15. You have to back your statements up with evidence. ✓ Anecdotes are not evidence. ✓ Being challenged to present evidence is not a personal attack.✓ Calling the people in who challenge you "brainwashed" or "stupid" does not further your argument. Neither does throwing a tantrum.✓ Published research (peer-reviewed) is more credible than the alternative. But peer-review is not perfect.✓ When you have been shown to be wrong, acknowledge it.✓ Just because some paper or web site agrees with you does not mean that you are right. You need evidence.✓ Just because some paper comes to the same conclusion as you does not mean your hypotheses a…

Due to a thread on the Abercrombie drive I have another question Also involved was this link on zero point energy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-point_energy If gravity is caused by the absorption of virtual particles/gravitons by mass (giving the appearance of stretched space), is there a way of generating virtual particles at one side of an object whilst allowing or increasing absorption on the other, creating a gravitational gradient as in warp drive, or putting it another way, rather than having a uniform stretching of space in all directions round an object due to gravity, create a distortion in the stretching of space. Is there any way of absorbing v…

  18. Heisenberg's uncertainty principle tells us that length and energy are related: l * E = ħ / 2 and using natural units where c = 1= ħ, we can deduce that 2*10-16 m = 1 / GeV. My question is, how is energy conserved when length contracts and time slows? Is it still contained within that smaller space, making the space hotter or is it released in some form? Also, would the slower rate of time have a cooling effect by reducing frequency? Tks

Like a time capsule. I write something, put it in a capsule, bury it underground, in hope that someone in the future sees it and send it to the past, is that possible? At our current time frame, receiving a message from the past is easy, receiving a message from the future is hard

  20. definition of the Observer effect (physics) - Wikipedia “In physics, the observer effect is the fact that simply observing a situation or phenomenon necessarily changes that phenomenon” definition of Quantum entanglement - Wikipedia “In quantum physics, entangled particles remain connected so that actions performed on one affect the other, even when separated by great distances. The phenomenon so riled Albert Einstein he called it "spooky action at a distance.” Therefore based on the above two definitions, the observer effect changes the state of one side which must change on the other side through entanglement. The setup: Alice and Bob are l…

  24. Hi everyone my name is Youcef and I'm kind of new here. The question of light as a data carier in a processor is not new but few people know about it. In fact it's actually quite rare to find anyone discussing this topic on the net. So I thought I just bring it here, as a matter of fact I dedicated a website with an introduction to the hyphothetical optical processor as I call it myself. In this introduction I present a concept which demonstrates that light could be used in a processing unit using it's unique properties. The introduction can be viewed at this dedicated website: You tube introduction video: links removed
