  1. Pre 18th Century, Sailing was a risky business, with only being able to determine one's position by Dead Reckoning and Latitude. While Latitude could be readily calculated, longitude was unknown with no means to determine, once out of Land sight. Sailors pre 18th century would follow known Latitudes until reaching a familiar land form. This was called "westing" or "easting" depending on the direction sailing, and would have been the method I presume that Columbus made, when reaching the Americas. The latest time machines of the day, pendulum clocks, were obviously useless at sea, due to the instability. This problem was seen so urgent to overcome that in the ea…

  2. New methods for statistical mereology of countless different variables are provided. Unlike many other traditional statistical techniques, the most distinctive characteristic of these modern approaches is that no claims are taken as to the existence of the wave function of the random collection being evaluated. In addition, the suggested protocols do not generate uncontainable errors during their topologisation. The efficacy of these approaches is demonstrated by simulation results with extended and reduced confidence intervals having different probability distributions of Toposes.

  3. The less advanced branches of maths with fewer applications in physics and chemistry , promise to be fertile fields for answering some of the most outstanding , most significant questions in these areas of knowledge . .. Teams under me are more theoretically than practically going this way to unearth a number of principles playing all but axiological role in physical chemistry . . .. Rector Reza Sanaye I Should have hardly though bringing out answers to important physics' and chemistry's quires would be feasible through the means of mereotopology ..... Pooria Solhjoo---MS

  5. So I was looking at this web site today showing odds in person life time some one dying. I’m shocked most people fear fire, Motor-vehicle crash and airplane crash , yet people do not show the same fear over cancer and heart disease and they have a way higher chance of dying. Looking at the table. Motor-vehicle crash 1 in 106 So if you have 106 people that live on your street one person will die in car crash in their life time. Fire or smoke 1 in 1,399 Well if there is 1,399 people that live on your street one person will die in their life time. Choking on food 1 in 2,618 Well if there is 2,618 on your street one person will …

Dear musicians, scientists and everyone, here are some thoughts about the losses introduced on purpose in wind instruments. ========== To begin with, the chambers that the oboe has at its tone holes. I claim they serve to attenuate the high harmonics that are especially unpleasant on a double reed. I haven't seen up to now that thesis in books and research papers (which I haven't read all) but I suppose it is well known from oboe manufacturers. The oboe has quite a narrow bore, some 2mm at the top, and its tone holes are even narrower to soften the sound, as opposed to a flute or saxophone. Here I take 1mm wide holes where the bore has 4mm; having…

  8. I understand that a condensing boiler, is only really efficient when the inlet temperature is below 55oC, when burning natural gas. Would the condensing / heat recovery and thus efficiency increase as the inlet temperature decreases.....e.g. 45oC, or is the maximum achieved at 55oC thanks

Hi all, I'm currently working on my masterthesis. It's about whether the pandemic has influenced the method of phishing that is done by criminals. I've got a dataset on phishing and I'm currently doing a keyword analysis by how many times a certain keyword comes across in phishing emails on a given day. I've normalized the count by dividing it by the number of phishing emails on that particular day (since the amount of emails per day varies). So, now the data looks like the average count of a given keyword in a email per day. Now I was wondering on how I can test this statistically, I'm thinking about a paired samples T-test. Where I've created 2 groups: …

  10. Reproductive cloning is a method in which the DNA of an egg in an organism (A) is derived and, subsequently, the DNA of a somatic cell in an organism (B) is placed in the egg. After that, a new organism (C) with the same genome as (B) will be created. What do you think of this technique? Me: I would like to have a clone of myself. But I think it is bad for humanity in general, because if everyone starts to clone themselves, we would no longer have genetic variability, and that could cause several weaknesses of diseases for example.

I see that a company near me is offering products that 'protect against harmful radiation' via Amazon amongst other outlets. These are called smart dots, pet dots and slep dots. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-55613452 They appear to be just stickers for the rich and gullible.

im not sure what topic this goes in so i put it here. so a few work mate were discussing something. id like some input. the world we live in, throughout all of history, has been dominated by men. even from hunter gatherer days until now, in every society, men were calling the shots and woman were put in the "seen but not heard" category. so what if we lived in a world where that was reversed. if the men were "seen but not heard" and woman where in charge and calling all the shots, what would be different. so our discussion was that , i think in the woman world, there is much less chance of things like going to the moon, inventing airplanes…

So i'm actually just getting into science, and i mainly study psychology and neuroscience at the moment but i was wondering about something and i'm hoping someone in this field of science could maybe help me out. so i'm very interested in ways we can stop the sun from exploding due to its "fuel" and lack thereof and since it will be caused by lack if hydrogen and again i'm not really sure it just peaked my interest but could we artificially put hydrogen into the sun's atmosphere and core when we have the technology available to get that close to the sun's core? and would it keep the sun from exploding in the future if we are able to do it? i'm sure i'm not…

  16. And why? It is generally accepted, that they was conqueriors, but that's not clear, why they come from steepe to the territory that was not good for horse breeding. They did not need this territory for their usual economic structure. What if we assume otherwise. They suffered from the expansion of European farmers, and therefore decided to establish control there. After all, it is the expansion of agricultural cultures that is typical in history (for the purpose of colonization, and so on) The ancient Indo-European attribute of snake fighting(Hero kills serpent) did not imply aggression, on the contrary, it meant victory over aggression and evil

  18. Lose the flower garlands. The way I see it is that even in our earliest histories humankind was "towards" trends, which is always hurtful. Our food regimen haven't ever really gotten better, only more conventional, at the expense of the furthest reaching convenience. In other words, from the earliest ages we've always been toward better medicine at the expense of authentic wholesome foods. That's just my point of view. That's the way I would have it; and the thing is, that's what I'm towards. For example, my refrigerator is shut down. I've discovered (as a personal convenience) fermentation is always a safe preservative method. And folks love my Mediter…

  20. If science is based on the footing of what we can observe and what we can predict then is advancement in science based on the tools we can use to do observation with and what we simply can't do based on laws established? I rember reading a few months back on physicsforums, a person posted about how he thinks physics is coming to a close end because of the lack of major discovery in physics in the last 50 years and that innovation requires new foundational laws which need to be discovered , which haven't been. I was wondering if there will be a limit to how far we can progress in science due to limitations of tools and limits of the universe we live in. In the p…

  21. I don't subscribe to modern science. Here's why: That genuine science began as a branch of ancient philosophy. Modern science disowns it's ancestry for the sake of modern commercial interests, primarily institutions descending from mass manufactures. So this thread concerns the science I subscribe to, that being ancient science. That being said, I noticed today in my natural observations, some moss growing along the railroad as I was doing my daily winter rounds for next year's crop. And I remembered how moss will grow without soil and actually manufacture it. I remembered how vivid green it grows even sometimes on manmade concrete. I remembered that modern…

  23. It's believed that numerolgy, number theory, and cyphering "working with prime number" have become alternatives in our concept of numbers linked to: Patterns, Trends & Financial Future Outcomes, The supposed Coding Of The Universe, Quantum Cryptography and so much more uses in Encryption... However it does attract much criticism and im wondering if there are others scientist whom believe in its productive uses versus it's most preferred "stereotype" of divination.

So, this is going to be a long one. I waned to put it out there and see what people think. So with evidence pointing towards the big bang theory, i am inclined to believe it. with that being said, i also believe in the big crunch. However, when i looked into it i found that scientists had observed that outer lying galaxies and stars were moving away from the supposed center of the universe and were actually gaining speed, not slowing down as we would expect. there are several things that could cause this, antimatter and whatnot. but i believe the answer is much more simple. You see i recently came into an understanding of gravitational time dilation. If you've ever …

Sorry to bug people here, I'd just like a few answers to some questions. I read about retro causality which states that an event can predate its cause. I was wondering is this how the universe was created. I know Lawrence Krauss and others think that the universe was created from nothing, but is this how he and others think it was created from nothing? If so does that mean that the universe is in a time loop. This thought is making me depressed. I was abused as a child and was very nearly killed. I'm terrified that if retrocausality is true then it will mean the following. The universe will eventually repeat itself. (I don't buy that it will remain in the …
