Just got this Kaossilator Synth last week. The K2 is hand held and the pro is less that a square foot on the table. Uses a touch pad rather than a keyboard. I love it. Check out some of the tracks I made for the super hero's in our sunday RPG campaign. https://soundcloud.com/dr-p-20

Has anyone experience with the forum EveryPoet.org/pffa/, a vBulletin powered site? I registered on the 25th, but my account has not been activated completely. I can read the forums, but cannot post or send messages, except to "Contact Us." I've not received an email from them, since registering; although, I have sent four messages to "Contact Us" asking for help. I can see that the site considers me a member because of the following statistics: One would think a member could post, but my posting permissions are the following: If anyone has an account there and can get a message to a moderator, I would appreciate some help. Thanks.

Hi, I've just registered as I suspect this is a good place to seek my answer. I am trying to find some information on 'how' something worked, which I have just a vague memory of from when I was younger, which I saw on a kids science television program. This would've been on during the 90s in UK, and it wasn't Blue Peter. On the show, they demonstrated the playback of an audio cassette using a balloon. I don't recall how, though have a slight memory which involved scraping along the cassette tape ribbon, and the audio being played back via the balloon. Does anyone recall this per chance, or know how a cassette could be played back using a balloon and ... s…

The gauntlet of British Values has been repeatedly thrown down over the last few years in my country, and it's a bugger to define without referring to globally held values. Comes down to stuborness and familiarity I suppose, but as far as i'm concerned this is an admirably British trait - we have to change what we're used to because of WHAT zeitgeist silly theory? We'll change, but stop trying to make us believe in stuff - whatever British Values is, that's not it. We're the lazy, pissed offspring of Descartes and Plato in our philosophy, and the progeny of a bunch of grumpy Scottish empiricists in our approach to life. Just fuck off. So then, US values? How do…

Say you are in charge of some operation and you draft in an expert in some activity that you need performed. The expert may be highly qualified for example a computer consultant, or she may be highly skilled, say an excavator driver. How do you approach the management of those more expert in something (knowledge or skill or both) than yourself?

I watched a program on moon mining yesterday, about private companies planning to mine the moon(working at moment with nasa) also that china seems to be the ones who are going to get there first.(sooner than we think). They where saying about helium 3 which could solve earths energy problems and fuel earth for thousands of years, plus many minerals not found on earth are in abundance on the moon. It seems to me which ever company/country that is able to mine the moon first will basically become the greatest power on earth, controlling a wealth in fuel/minerals/water, I cannot see a good outcome that would suit everyone, Perhaps a 50% tax on profits that go int…

I have been with virgin media for 7 years paying £70 for large tv package 50 meg broadband and phone line(no films). I decided to go to sky as they were offering a deal for a year £47.50 "large tv package +all film chanels 16meg broadband and phone line, With this i would have saved £23.50 a month. The change was going to happen tomorrow, Virgin just phoned me and offered me large tv plus all film channels 150 meg broadband and free phone line for the same price £47.50. Looks like I am staying with virgin, Sometimes it is worth threatening to leave to get the best deals from these providers

  10. Hi everyone, My name is Alex, and I am a former student at Joliet Junior college before transferring to NIU this semester where I am currently the vice president of the SPS chapter at the school. Before I left JJC, the club I founded back in 2012 there, started working on a project, and that project was starting a scholarship fund for women in science, technology, engineering, and math. (STEM). We started the project last semester, and we raised only a few hundred dollars from the fundraiser we had last semester. I really want to make this scholarship help people so I decided to reach out beyond the JJC community and was wondering if there are any of you w…

  11. If the brain is convinced the body will freeze to death, it is said the person will become hypothermic and would die, because the brain is convinced of it. (Nocebo effect is well known to scientists and fully accepted) there was a case of a man misdiagnosed with cancer and he died months later of cancer like symptoms. look up 'voodoo death' on Wikipedia. it mentions that case. also a man believed sugar pills were real pills. he overdosed on them trying to kill himself. his blood pressure went very low even though the pills were harmless and needed medical attention. This case was mentioned in the Smithsonian Magazine ''Beware the Nocebo effect'' and Smithsonian is a reput…

  12. This question came into my mind after I watched some documentary that showcased bizarre deaths in history. Some well known and others not so well known. One involved the 16th(I think?) Century murder. These guys broke into a house during the night and seized a man from his bed and took him to a cellar. There they tied him down and used awls to open veins then they sucked the blood until the guy died. I figured the context I mentioned was important because I know it'd hurt a lot to die of blood loss from a gunshot wound for instance. In this instance I don't think there should be much pain, I'm assuming it's just feeling sleepy and passing out? Or am I wrong?

  14. Hello world How do I even begin? I feel like I've been holding back for so long and now instinct is telling me to just go for it because there are people waiting for answers and I might just be someone who can help or show the way. What are some of the ultimate goals out there? Immortality? Happiness? Fame? Wealth? Peace? Making the world awesome? Curing things? Power? Freedom? Living for thrills? Lounging about forever? Reaching some state of mind? Exploring the unknown? Finding answers? I'm serious when I claim to be possibly on the verge of breakthroughs that could (directly or indirectly) lead to other breakthroughs. The primary breakthrough that I'm refer…

  15. Mathematics without understanding can be lethal. Yet we are constantly exhorting others to use mathematics and pushing the doctrine that 'mathematics rules OK'. Being human there are always those who will try to short cut the link between understanding and mathematics and technology, with its ever increasing computing power, is offering the illusion that this is possible by simply inputting data into preprogrammed systems that spit out answers. Here is a recent example from this forum http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/88108-please-help-with-calculating-limiting-reagent/#entry857546 This trend has long (always?) been there. I can remember the scandal …

  16. -Please move to 'speculations' if deserved- Can you foresee the magnitude of general public chaos in the U.S.A. if the metric international system was mandated ? Together with the kilogram, Celsius, litre, Newton... No more fluid ounces, tablespoons, miles, bushels, gallons, pounds, Farenheit, horsepower, feet, inches, acres, mils, 2"x4" that are not, BTUs,... On a one-year term to convert ? I just smile when hear ..."half pound hamburger has 16 grams of fat"... Lucky some things are already turned with medicines, imported products, the Volt is already here to stay. What is your perception in the subject ?

Dear all, We're looking for innovative scientific projects and inventions to be presented in the Dolphinity World Festival. Dolphinity for us is a way of life and a worldview based on integrity, awareness and joy. Formally the Festival will be dedicated to cetaceans, but in large terms – to consciousness and life in general. We develop the Festival of Dolphinity as a scientific forum, a creative contest, and an international fiesta all at once. It is a unique cultural event as well as a continual project: an international community, a year-round research and information centre, an experimental base for new vivid transformational projects – a global practice of dir…

  25. I was searching for some inspiration for a frontispiece for a review I'm submitting and was once again surprised by just how bad some of them were - and all from some of the best chemistry journals out. I'm sure this can't be unique to chemists, but it sure seems to be especially prevalent in chemistry related papers / journals. Thought I'd share a few of the gems I came across. (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/cs501366q) (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ac501953z) Edit: I forget where this one came from, but it's a clear favorite.
