  2. Is it true that if someone is initially intrinsically motivated to study and do well, if they are given extrinsic reasons to become motivated, often than not the person becomes reliant on extrinsic motivations to study? How true is this? I have always been an instrincally motivated student and repressed extrinsic motivations.

It appears to me that if I try to imagine movement, I can't. I'm not certain, but I think if a recollection springs into mind unbidden then there can appear to be motion (say a memory of a person running). But if I try to imagine a person running, I see a still image that is underpinned by the idea of running. Or a series of stills with the idea of running. What does everyone else see?

What do you know about bubbles? There were bubbles in my drink tonight. I used to have a cat named bubbles. There is a lot of science behind them involving surfactants, surfaces, molecular interactions, fluid dynamics and stuff. There are bubbles in sci-fi things and they get used in entertainment by magicians. I've been working on something for about 10 to 15 years and it is kinda succeeding, so I thought I'd take advantage of a voucher from my local offering a half price bottle of bubbly wine. It was very nice and I had fun drinking it and socializing with people tonight. A happy night! One of my old Physics lecturers used to do special talks on bubble…

  5. The U.K. In its Universities is attempting to scratch at the surface of the weirdness of Quantum Mechanics. It has fascinated many probing scientists , from the early pioneers , (1890 to 1920 ) through the 20 th century , to today . Now some fascinating ideas and a different approach is underway . Mike

  7. I have finished yet another composition. I wrote the melody to this song in high school. It has taken me 17 years to complete it. I'm just happy that my skills have grown to allow me to write what I hear in my heart. Enjoy!!! *Edit: I made a few changes to the spiccato violin parts, which are just awesome!

Anyone heard of this? I came across it on Kickstarter. It’s a film about how science relates to the real world. I thought it looked pretty interesting.

My Mum got to that certain point a few months ago and paid to use Ancestry.com in an attempt to find out where Her maternal line had come from and also the roots of where Her brown eyes had come from, I managed to trace the brown eyes using Ancestry and it turns out there was a marriage in the family to an Italian Gentleman from Como, Lake Lombardi in Italy, His name being Dominico Brentani, The Lady He married, Eliza Wall turned out to be interesting in that She descended from The Middletons - these were the ancestors of My Grandfather Henry on My Mums side of the family. My Mums Mum My Gran was a Jackson and We are still looking at all of this and have mailed folk in …

  11. The TV show Law and Order: SVU deals with murder, rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse so on. But I hear there is lots children in TV show. Even though at the time of TV show Law and Order: SVU pedophile was less common in the US. Now pedophile is more common in US of sexual assault on children so on. So is the TV show Law and Order: SVU morally acceptable todays? I was going to get the TV show Law and Order: SVU. But if there is lots of children getting sexual assaulted and abuse even though it is fake and acting in todays would feels more morally not acceptable. May be Law and Order vs Law and Order: SVU may be better option. I hear there is murder, assault …

  13. I remember reading a magazine article from the early 1980's, talking about how the DOE was funding NASA to build a stirling engine to be used in a car. The engine was designed and built just over a year. - Is this why engineers are paid more than cancer researchers (i.e. Bioinformatics, Pharmaceutical Biotechnologists, Biochemists), because of mere product saturation? Any engineer, given the funding, and tools has the express capability of designing and building, any engine, bridge, exhaust system in a relatively short window of time. Your just limited to parts and imagination. But to cure a disease or make an effective drug/vaccine takes lots of research, lot…

Below are two screenshots of two of Nostradamus' Quatrains, has He tried warning of a disaster at CERN/Geneva/Switzerland when they collide Gold in the LHC? And does the second Quatrain (second screenshot) indicate the area of destruction to be approximately 200km in radius? Could the CERN team have under estimated what could happen when these Heavy Ions are collided? Is this mumbo-jumbo or could Nostradamus really 'SEE'? 'Father-Time' will tell! Second screenshot

Out in my garden yesterday (cloudy), There was one little gap at about 10.30, I could only see one bright star in this gap which I had my binoculars focused on hoping to catch a shooting star, When all of a sudden something flew through this gap it was not a shooting star but the ISS, which I was just as pleased about (first fleeting thought was ufo) but checked online and ISS was in that area of space(UK) at 10.30. I then thought of the dangers for the ISS when we have these meteor showers with dust and rocks travelling at 140,000mph, we have a fair few showers each year and I am surprised there have been no incidents that I know of, Surly these meteor showe…

I have several songs that I work on during the night. If I get stuck on one, then I move on to another. This song is different than most of my other songs. The tempo is slow and the melody is very peaceful. The fade at the end seems too fast, but the software I use makes it difficult to get those things just right. I'll keep messing with it and see if I can perfect it, but the songs is still very beautiful. Perhaps one day, I will be able to get an actual orchestra to records these songs and you will be able to hear them the way they were meant to be heard! Enjoy!!!

What do you think of cheerleaders? Should cheerleading be considered a sport? If you had kids would you let them join a cheer squad? Cheerleaders are stereotyped as snobby and dumb. Have you ever met an intelligent cheerleader? Did the cheerleaders you knew get fat after High School?

  24. So, I decided to take up some video game development(Unity 3D, which is awesome). My game idea revolves around the topic of depression, the main character being a 16 year old girl who is going through the year of "self discovery." The specifics I am still working on. What I wanted an opinion on is which path would be the best to approach the topic of depression. I have two paths that I majorly wanted to talk about, but to lower the content I decided to choose one or the other, unless there is a way to combine them while making it short and sweet, if you will. The characteristic that fits the main character would be that she is pretty intelligent, one who approaches s…

  25. I sometimes like to listen to music after I study and then go back to studying and then back to listen to some more music but is this a bad habit to be having? Does it diminish my learning in that I retain less of what I am learning by doing this? Anyone care to make some comments? Should I stop doing this or are the affects relatively negligible? I want to improve my marks in university! Please help me!
