Hi everyone. This is Popcorn Sutton making an attempt at reinserting myself into this community. If that is not acceptable I completely understand. I just wanted to say hello and thank you for everything that you guys have done for me and all the time that was spent bouncing ideas off of each other. If it's ok, I would like to stick around for a while, although my time is much more restricted now that I have a big boy job. I'm awaiting speaking with the CEO and the VP of emerging technologies to see if they will give me the 'ok' to move forward with creating my political and AI programs. I am now being paid very well and am constantly reminded of the value that I …

Hello all! Wanted to hear opinions as to if you feel the various technologies in Star Trek or Star Wars are more plausible. Granted, they are all long shots, but which makes more sense to you all? For example, I feel that warp drive from Star Trek is more plausible than hyperspace in Star Wars. Also, this is just intended for fun, so please don't get too heated!

  4. The powers that be, may lock me away tomorrow. I'm not sure which post it is I made on my own blog, most if it is just jibberish, but certain posts may have annoyed certain "powers" that be, and I may not come out walking from this one. This may very well be the very last post of any kind that I make as a free man, or alive, depending what transpires tomorrow. I'm still not sure what it is specifically that I had posted that made them decide to come after me, but... sh*t. I'm not sure how they made the connection to me (the real me) and my blog, but I must have posted something that got their attention. To be honest, 50% of the stuff I blog about is ju…

I for one, wish to see Swansont go back to the Sean Connery/James bond avatar. I just can't take him seriously as a shag-a-delic Austin Powers.

  6. Started by Destal Chemistry,

Hey, I have a passion for science and in particular I enjoy chemistry. I am only 15 but science classes at my school were always boring and the attitude of everyone there just about ruined them so I set off on an adventure of my own. Don't get me wrong though, I am definitely not an expert and thats why I'm here to learn. A few months ago I started a YouTube channel and I post educational science videos. It's as much of a learning experience for me as it is my viewers. It doesn't have many since I have been extremely busy however I am becoming more active and need advice/feedback. Before making a video I spend a few hours researching the topic as I'm paranoid about ge…

I went out today by myself to do a little collecting, first time out since my last surgery. My target species was Redfin Pickerel, but the prime collecting site is on private property and had a no trespassing sign up and the owner wasn't home to ask his permission so I didn't get to collect there. He had told me several years ago I was welcome to collect any time but now there is a fence and that was several years ago and I'm not sure the same guy lives there. No pickerels were caught. I did get the following species. Swamp Darter 1 Pirate perch 1 Blue spotted sunfish 3 Several gambusia with one black spotted male... Wait for it! Three tiny Sir…

I've heard the term "problem glasses" used to describe a type of glasses typically worn by regressive leftist, radical feminist, SJWy types, but don't know what kind of glasses these are or why they are called problem glasses. Can someone explain this?

  9. Imatfaal Said: I shall take this on board. Thanks. Yes, they are rim v-brakes. Those "nasty" Clarks brakes are better than what came with the bike. £35 for a set of Swisstop Greens seems rather outrageous to me, at the moment, for four bits of coloured rubber. I've put Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres on. Do they pass muster? I have a hybrid bike for towning. From what I've read so far, rim brakes are fine for my purposes. I'm not aspiring to discs on this one; the forks aren't up to them anyway, I don't think. I've already read a few Sheldon Brown articles. I shall check out the others. Thanks. I have a vague idea of wanting to slowly replace all the bit…

  10. I used to really like to watch ted talks and the youtube channel dnews. i also am a big fan of hermiony from the harry potter series. I like the actress who played her and now there are more social justice or feminist videos on ted talks, laci green who hosted dnews is a feminist and same with the actress who plays hermiony in harry potter. I think there is a good kind of feminist that is for equality but the represented in the media feminist is trying to give women more rights then men and they usually use all their arguments just to complain about something. these feminists are going along with the more radical feminists in the media. I just cant believe how so many peo…

  11. So, yesterday, my father's estranged father passed away. When I say "estranged" I mean the absolute textbook version. My father's father (I refuse to say grandfather) was a womanizer, an alcoholic, abusive, and left my father and my grandmother when he was 14 or 15. Now at the age of 60, my father gets news of his father in the ICU, with kidney failure, and a slew of other things. He died later that day. I'm left here seeing how terrible, and sad it is, for this man to have abandoned his family, missing out on years of memories, never seeing his grandchildren or great grandchildren. He died alone, sick and without an ounce of care from anyone, except maybe the nursing…

Hi guys! I was wondering, are high IQ society's more of a bragging rights thing rather then someplace you can actually learn stuff? I have a IQ of 136 but I question the correctness of it because it simply means I'm logical from what I know. So high IQ societies are probably not going to teach anything at all really with the exception of some rare post and stuff, or am I wrong?

  14. The lady who taught me how to read and write music is retiring this year. Without Mrs. Wood, I wouldn't be able to write the music that I do today. Great teachers are hard to find and, although we are in their lives for a brief period of time, their teachings remain with us forever. This is my 20th song, and it's dedicated to her. Enjoy!!!

  15. Hi, Is there much point in staying in touch with people you do not see regularly or have a genuine current relationship with but may have been friends long, long ago? With the emergence of social media such as facebook, it is now possible to stay "friends" with people you do not currently see regularly or have a relationship with but may have had a strong relationship in the past. In regards to these sorts of relationships, is it better to break your ties from these people instead of "being tied to the past"? Furthermore, does living in the past, inhibit in our ability to live for today and to fully appreciate all the possibilities which life has to offer? …

In the spirit of "Discuss life, school, work, anything", I've opened this discussion here because, as I've experienced, few opinions on this subject are actually based on science or serious study. As far as the science, precious few believe that such evidence even exist. After 30 years of study, even I question some of the science on the meaningful nature of dream content. I've changed my opinion and perspective on the relevance of dreams many times myself over the years. I could and have answered this question for myself but I'm interested in your opinion, sincerely. Perhaps you believe that dreams and dreaming are not a subject for scientific study or discussion an…

I didn't know that we have a very unique tax system here in Switzerland. You can lower your taxes if 1. You have children 2. You use childcare or a nanny 3. You are married and both parents work 4. You donate to a charity 5. You donate to a politcial party 6. You are a disabled person 7. You have to pay alimony 8. you have interest on savings deposits(that is actually almost nothing in these times) And some more tax deductions... My father told me we are the only one in Europe who has such a liberal tax system, what about USA. In Germany, Italy or France the taxes are automatically paid with the income, they have not the possibility for tax d…

  20. A Story . Mike found himself on one of his walks along the coast , like any other day . This time he had chosen to go that extra distance to be away ' as far as possible from other people . He rested for a while , looking out to sea . That morning he had one of those ' Eureka ' moments when he felt intuitively that he had developed a perception of the Universe which made a lot of sense from the very small to the Cosmologically large . He felt so refreshed with this perception that he looked forward to running with the idea . At that particular moment , he looked out to sea , and on or in fact encompassing the horizon , was the strangest of Orange cloud spa…

  21. I just read an article about how researchers at Temple University managed to remove the HIV-1 genome from a human T-cell...the article went on about how this is a giant leap towards curing AIDS/HIV etc., etc. So, lets suppose this team did find the cure for AIDS/HIV. A couple of years ago, my professor began a small company that ran on research grants for an antibody she's making to help TREAT (not cure) cancer. That company of hers took alot of time, money, and employed about a dozen students/ researchers. If cancer was truly cured, I could see her losing alot of hard, invested time and money, as well as her dozen employees becoming jobless. Now a cure for AIDS…

https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn26435-thoroughly-modern-humans-interbred-with-neanderthals/ Does having neanderthal DNA make modern humans less intelligent (for those who have lots of neanderthal DNA)? Does lack of neanderthal DNA in subsaharan Africans make them smarter? Why is poverty highest in subsaharan africa? Could neanderthal DNA been the panacea which rescued us from poverty?

  25. So, there's a relatively new member on the OSF, who just happens to be a female, and also just happens to receive an insane amount of positive reputation..considering she's only been here since February, 2016...with approximately 34% of her posts receiving positive feedback. Keep in mind, she has less than 200 posts. Relative to "Resident Expert" members, who have a minimum of 2,000 posts, their positive feedback relative to their number of posts was the following: 5%, 6%, and 29%. I'm not directing my disappointment at this individual..I welcome her to the OSF any day of the week. I am however upset with the male lemmings who feel an urge to provide positive feedbac…
