The universe expands! We can all agree on that. Some say that the universe is all there is. So the universe expands into what exactly? What I am trying to figure out is, if there is some sort of void beyond the universe? And if there is, the universe is not all there is, right? Even a void without space, matter and time is still "something". The problem of a universe with no void around it, is that it does not expand. It stretches. Hello Mordred, interesting question. To the op: space is information. Fundamentally 4D 3 spatial and 1 time. I perceive It as a constantly developing and evolving physical entity i.e. moment by moment it is bigger and older. I think that is an objective information (for us yet not perceivable). How space created? From the lawest possible physical state evolved the smallest possible physical information= space(time). I would quess. We'll obviously we must be where a planet is. Secondly, the proven existence of periodicity in redshift (e.g. 72 km/s and related as found by Tifft, Arp, Guthrie and Napier and others) means that either A. We are in a special location, or B.
