Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. The Big-Bang, Dark Energy, Einstein's Cosmological Constant, the Cosmological Principle, and the unnaturally young Age of The Universe are all man-made fabrications with no relation to reality. What's Real? Gravity. Now you may think of Gravity as a distortion of Space-Time, but for the purpose of this argument, I'm going to call it Gravity. The Expansion of the Observable Universe is Speeding Up. If we were going out, we'd be Slowing Down. As it is, we're Speeding Up, and that means we're going in. That's not me, that's the evidence. Modern Scientists say Gravity is the weakest force because the Big-Bang works better without Gravity. To Newton, on the other ha…

Pi, solved.. The reason pi is infinite is because people forgot what pi is actually describing - a lie. from 2d to circles to 3d spheres, nothing has a perfectly smooth or round surface. Just like in computer model space, a true circle or sphere cannot possibly be created, it's simply more and more sides to a polygon that only appears to be a circle or sphere. imagine if you were on a computer, drew a circle, then zoomed into that circle so much that you could see the single pixels, it would always be a collection of straight lines. If you take a measurement of something such as a round lid in the real world, no matter what measurement device you used such a…

  3. While not a climatologist I do have a graduate degree in biology. And, there is no way around the fact that biology and climate are related. I also keep to date in readings. My nature of work involves a lot of traveling so I get to learn the views of many people. Now,the very groups of people that promote human caused climate change are among those who have indicated that such events as sun spot activity have earthly effects, that there has been a shifting of the poles, that geothermal activities cause dust particles to rise into the earth's atmosphere limiting solar radition..et al. Paleontologists have come to conclusions that Antarctica at one time was tropical due…

  4. If the following things are true about black holes: A black hole is not a finitely (however enormously so) steep depression in the fabric of space-time, but in fact a hole that leads to another point in the space-time continuum. For the length of a black hole's existence all matter drawn into a black hole exits at the same point in space-time. IE: The black hole does not simply erupt matter continuously throughout its entire existence, from formation to eventual deterioration, at the same rate it sucks it in, but all matter for all of its existence erupts at the same point in space-time all at once (mini-big bang) All black holes everywhere lead to the same point in…

Hi, Was wondering if, through the ideas of quantum consciousness in terms of the way in which we are capable of having experience through the pre-conscious to conscious processing of values of qualia etc embedded at the planck scale. Would that mean it would be impossible for us to have, as sentient beings (here and now), spiritual experience etc or anything beyond our ordinary realm of experience - not excluding spiritual experience as normal experience though - if, as a thought experience, we found ourselves enclosed within a void of nothingness. As in a space where there is absolutely nothing else but us - not worrying about air or anything. Since, the informat…

The Twin Towers were marvels of structural engineering when constructed. Nowadays, it's well accepted that they were built in a highly redundant fashion using far more steel than necessary. The structures were built to withstand the impact of multiple large planes, and there is no evidence of faulty construction. The manner in which the towers collapsed, as proven through a huge amount of video evidence from a multitude of sources, is such that they simply could not have possibly have not been demolished but in a controlled manner through the release of a tremendous amount of energy during the collapse sequence. A self initiated collapse, even taking into account the …

  7. Hi: Let's say I suddenly develop a hypothetical medical condition that causes the cells in my body that normally-synthesize sympathetic-stimulants [such as catecholamines] and pro-inflammatory chemicals [such as histamine and cytokines] to instead synthesize morphine. Second, this medical condition eliminates any/all bodily mechanisms that specifically cause any psychological or psychologically dependence of, addiction to, or tolerance of morphine. Third, this medical condition eliminates any/all bodily mechanisms specifically responsible for withdrawal of morphine. Finally, this medical condition causes the development of mechanisms that prevent there from being any …

If you have 2 gravitons, the inverse square law says they will accelerate towards each other,if you can not travel faster than the speed of light, therefore when 2 gravitons that are attracted towards each other reach the speed of light, they must be touching. They must also be the minimum distance possible apart(1 graviton diameter) and have the minimum possible mass?

I have a question about something that I read way back in 1956 or 57 in the only chemistry class that I ever had. The best that can remember is that each and every element have a magnetic moment at a given temperature mostly in the low -200 F°. If so would this be possible , a Gold magnet. Please see the attachment.

I have read, read,(reread!) and (reread!),until at times I wish physics had been my prize. Likely I would have had a better shot at Russian, or 20 different dialects of Chinese. I realize that nothing is perfect, but formulation without absolute stipulation stuns me. How can a formula be true for one application of a situation and not, for another part of the same event; even though they concern the same thing? I'm referfing to gravitational and magnetic shielding in sub atomic findings. And how can anything be so absolute when nothing is at rest in the universe? This is just one of many. Is the guy just another crackpot, or on the level? It's just too deep for me to unde…

If antimatter has everything backwards why not gravity too? If it has negative gravity then it would repel itself into single particles spread rather uniformly in the space. You would say then why don't we detect small annihilations when traveling in space? Maybe all the massive objects in the solar system overpowered their negative gravity and annihilated them long ago, maybe there isn't much antimatter left inside the galaxies either. Is it possible to detect such properties of the antimatter inside a lab? Have anyone tried this yet?

Lets take the example of trigonometry of heights and distances. We usually come across something like: the height of a point is 100√2 and say angle of elevation used in the problem was a Now, √2 is irrational no. and so would be 100√2. This distance can only be approximated. So is it that a point can't be observed at an angle a but at any other angle closer to it or is it that a point can't be at 100√2 units from an observer. Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks

  15. According to Einstein no objects in our known universe can travel faster than the speed of light, 299,792,458 meters per second. As an object approaches the speed of light its mass approaches infinity, thus said object would require an infinite force in order to accelerate past the speed of light. Theirs another side to this story though, European scientist claim to have logged a subatomic particle, referred to as an neutrino, traveling faster than the speed of light. This group performed their study a second time , confirming their original results. The theory of relativity has held strong through the years, recreated on a variable scale, thus , according to Ei…

These are my questions and theories: Could using a Collider in the near future help in space exploration? If we wanted to go close to the speed of light eventually or speed up gradually to the speed of light, could we use a collider with an engine similar to a jet propulsion engine with an expulsion area so that it would take the left over energy to propel your ship at high speeds? I know that NASA has already used ION drives for their satellites. So theoretically, could this be possible? Additional Details Now the issue with folding space... does matter exist in…

Hello, I'm no math expert, no physics expert, just a plain old joe that likes to think about stuff! I'll begin my first ever post regarding what I call GiGo Theory, which basically means "Gravity In, Gravity Out"... Before I get [possibly] torn apart about my views, I'd just like to mention this is what I "think", not what I can prove, I'm not a writer, nor do I work in the scientific community (I am a builder, bricks and mortar )... I respect peoples views, arguments and as such, if anyone can tell me why I'm wrong (In English), then, I'll listen! GiGo Theory GiGo (Gravity In, Gravity Out) GiGo is a theory (used lightly) that tries to explain why the un…

Watched a doco about the mystical 13 crystal skulls that were supposedly crafted by the Mayans or Atlatans or what ever......as in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls. The doco mentioned the findings of an apparently legitimate scientist who concluded that one of the supposedly genuine anciant crystal skulls had microscopic tool marks on it characteristic of a rotary diamond drill that looked nothing like the tool marks characteristic of stone tools. Of course the yank adventurer and the documentary ignored this finding......I am surprised they even put it in the doco. It just blows me away how easily so many people can so easily allow themselves t…

While I do believe the theory does support time travel there are some basic issues. Within the basics of any math, when an error is made in the beginning of the statement, the entire statement becomes void. Before anyone can prove or disprove the theory, 1st they must correct the basic Algebra that everyone know to be incorrect. Also see www.Timecorrections.com

The attached file illustrates how space is produced. Although this is a simplified version of my theory but it is also similar to other "mainstream" theories like LQG and GR. The lines represent energy of the point particles that it starts from. the two points in the right hand figure are concidered higher energy(say a mini blackhole) the lines shoot to the other 9 lower energy particles , a bunch near and a bunch far. the crossing of the lines red dots for the green lines and yellow for the blue lines. You can think of space as these crossings. notice the density and the distribution of the crossings , these are equivalent to space geometry. As a matter of fact you c…

Hi forums I wonder if anyone can help me with a story i'm writing. I'm no scientist but I like fiction to have a basis in real life, and theres an event in the story that i'm not quite sure of what the effect would be. Say that every year or every few years, an area of earth is scorched by some kind of superheated power- perhaps similar to when lightning strikes the ground, but much more powerful, a much larger area of effect, and lasting for much longer than a quick lightning strike- say a minute or two. What would happen to the area of earth, and what would happen to it over a long period of time? Also, what if the area was sand instead of earth? Would it b…

Time is not what you think, in my last week I have been posting on the naked scientist under artpiecemalpsso, on the topic of time and how the future and past are non existent as actual realm of time. As I envisioned the time realm of the past I envisioned that what the past was was nothing more then present moments played out with other present moments, a book that was writen one hundred years ago was in the present moment of existence, and every present moment of everyone who ever came in contact with it, how is it now that that book is right here in ever present moment and not back there in the past. The past is Ideas of the present moments it defines, how we saw what …

After reading much about it, I continue to be dumbfounded by the word "spacetime" and how it is used. As far as I can read, space and time are yoked together by physicists much as a team of oxen or horses. It's hard to believe that it can be described in such a fashion, since time is an entity, as is space, matter and our overall universe. Does anyone out there have a better description? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spacetime

Hi, I've watched some documentaries and read a little bit about what people say is happening at the sub-atomic level, it bothers my that they use the word "contradictory" to refer to what they see, because I do not believe science has contradictions, so I wrote this piece, I hope you read it and I hope you enjoy it even if it is not 100% accurate, I would like some feedback. There is more I would like to say but I haven't properly formulated it into word or thought within my head, I'm still feeling it out.
