Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Space Is there any given area of space that is not occupied? I have tried to think of space as if it may not be occupied, but I ran into problems with the thought. I imagine a given area of space were a portion the space is occupied by a photon. I then ask what portion of the given area of space could the photon be were its inverse square relation to another object not apply to the photon? The fact that I can not find any portion of the given area where the photon is not affected by gravity doesn’t necessarily mean that more than one object can occupy the same area of space; what it does seem to imply is that space seems to insist on being occupied; if not by …

The Genesis One Code by Daniel Friedmann Daniel Friedmann in his book TheGenesisOneCode shows how there is no conflict in the origin of the universe between the 6 creation days as described in Genesis(6000 years of Biblical time) and 13.7 billion years as described in the scientific Big Bang model. His associates mailed me to review his book as I was a book blogger and I thought of posting in Book Talk forum or in the Contradictions: Religion vs Science thread but since this was still at the speculation stage I thought it was better to post it here. His extensive studies in the Oral Law of Torah consisting of Talmud and Zohar which is a group of mystica…

Three reasons for life “Magnetism, Mass, Space and Speed”, I believe are the main ingredients for a livable universe. Even making the statement as theory; it must be assumed for arguments sake that, matter, magnetism and space are conjunctive properties permitting a world such as ours to exist. Beginning with the overall universe; as far as we know, it maintains a constant speed? But since no one can say for sure exactly what that speed is, let’s just call it “X”. Over the years, mathematicians have successfully formulated the speeds of components in our solar system, even to the spin pf atoms and the (rotation) of our galaxy. But anomalies continue to crop up. For…

On thelink: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26262175/InterpreatationMichelsonExperiment.pdf is presented the analysis of the Michelson-Morley experiment, which shows that this experiment could be misinterpreted. Thus, whether the SR theory was based on false premises? Has anyone checked this already?

Some confusion surrounds the topic of Absolute Vacuums. Most folk are really talking about 'empty space', which is a misnomer. Space is not empty. In this context, the word "hollow" is appropriate, and can be applied to this type of space, as in "A space with nothing in it." An absolute Vacuum is quite different. It is a "Volume with no space in it" From the microcosm to the macrocosm, Absolute Vacuums have never been directly observed in space. Even the thinnest intergalactic space consists of radiation, virtual particles, whole atoms. From its distinct observational absence, many would infer that Absolute Vacuums do not exist, but that is an assumption and an e…

MRIs temporarily align the magnetic field of some atomic nuclei. Electron spin resonance (ESR) is similar but affect the spin of electrons instead of nuclei. Does this in any way synchronize some probabilistic aspects of the atoms? I'm trying to imagine an experiment in which you could get a macroscopic object to display wavelike properties. All the electrons in the atoms of some piece of matter could be considered to be orbiting their atoms' nuclei in a random probabilistic cloud, right? Is it possible to align them so that the probabilities are temporarily biased all in the same direction? Or does that have nothing to do with spin, which is affected with…

So I had a Dream last night In this dream I was in some kind of lecture room and someone was teaching me about the cycle of light and visible light. Anyway on the board was picture diagram of this cycle(if such a thing exists), I don't remember any details or how this cycle worked. All I remember was the diagram. I wanted to post this up here and see if this diagram makes sense to anyone to see if I can get any answers. I am not expecting this to be actually something real or anything.

This is true that GPS do work, but under the assumption that 'speed of light' is constant for every observer. That is when a GPS receiver calculates its distance from the any GPS satellite it uses the formula d=c.t ....... (1), where 'c' is constant speed of light. Now, before you say that it is experimentally proved that speed of light is same for every observer, let me stop you right there, and consider the same for a sound wave ....... does the speed of sound depend on the motion of the source ? Does the speed of sound is different for different frequencies ? the answer is NO. It is constant for any motion of source. And for the second part of my argument, ..…

I wanted to know what cancer was so i did some research, and most websites tell us that cancer is a name for various diseases in which old cells that get their DNA damaged start to divide uncontrollably, instead of dying, but i wasn't so convinced that this is necessarily true, i wonder how they know that the DNA becomes damaged. We know now that the DNA works by some sort of switching on and off system, i which some genes are sometimes turned on and sometimes off, and i wonder what if that is what is happening to old cells, instead of the part of the gene that tell that cell to die some other part turns on and tells it to divide, could this be possible?

This morning I was outside where the light of the sun hit my eyeglasses at an angle that showed round, dried water spots. What struck me as odd is how the particles of dust and dirt were so evenly dispersed throughout the water spot. Then I remembered watching a documentary on the universe where a physicist asked, "Why are the objects in the universe so evenly dispersed?' Is there some connection between the two (dried water spots and the universe)? I mean, are there similar laws involved on how things get dispersed through space and some kind of liquid?

Ok so I've made a Diagram that I don't really understand because I saw in a day dream that I had yesterday. I want to know if it could make sense to anyone in anyway possible. From what I gathered is space and time is rotating around itself. Now light come from the center (It is suppose to but in the diagram it off to the side my mistake). I am not sure what this, just wondering if it could something at all. Dreams are very strange indeed

This is an article I have put together in order to organize my own thoughts and those of people I've been discussing the topic with over the past year. I have not included any references, nor have I attempted to keep this uniform with any kind of stylistic standard as far as document format, because my goal here was to get all my thoughts on paper, associate them together into some kind of theme, then verify my proposals via research and experimentation until either the article is complete and infallible, or the goal is found to be unreachable and counterproductive due to fatal flaws in theory. I am trying to get as much input as possible in order to make this happen,…

I just talked to a guy 14.5 billion years old. He told me a poem and called it: Thought: Almost six thousand just looked at fourteen and half billion far across the sea of light . . . Just to say hi. happy birthday Yea birthday and I said to myself, what a strange and unusual thing. But then I started wondering, who taught Einstein? and before this thread gets kicked down to speculations I'd like to add that there galaxies similar to ours ten, twelve, and fourteen billion light years in the past. It's very probable that there was life and intelegent life in some measure of abundace inside of them. (Just judging from the abundance on earth) I think it's also stat…

remember that there is a relationship between mass, space, and gravity. The phenomena of space arrises from mass. The phenomena of mass arrises from the potential energy of gravitational force. "Space" is a very long wavelength type of energy, so long that the flux is imperceptible. The "vacuum" energy (responsible for radioactive decay) is more of a rogue wave phenomena. In the absence of space, matter would move infinitely fast, simultaneously occupying an entire linear path, which is the same effect that would be observed if the matter was without mass. Neutrinos have a much lower cross section interaction, so it is possible to exceed the speed of light because there i…

Imagine some simple particle, like an electron (say), which was excited along the "hyperspatial" dimension. It would "look like" a regular electron, in terms of charge & spin (say), but the extra energy pumped into the particle, to "pump it up" into its excited hyper-state, would mimic more mass. Thus, a "hyper-excited" electron, would look like a particle having charge -1, and spin 1/2.... but much more mass... to wit, it would look allot like a Muon (!!). Indeed, could not the whole Standard Model of Elementary Particles could be interpreted in terms of these "excited hyper-states", with the 2nd & 3rd "generations" of particles really representing the 2nd…

We can't say gravity is produced from matter. We tend to view gravity as something local, when in fact it could be something non-local. For all we know, gravity may be a separate arrow of time opposing matter. Since we don't know the nature of gravity or how gravity works, the equations we use should be treated with a fair amount of objectivity in the analysis. To understand the action of gravity doesn't require any special mathematics (unless you're talking about specific densities of a planet or a star's interior), however a basic understanding of the Law of Inverse Square is required. It also helps to realize that specific gravity and specific density are synonymous. …

How can you raise something to the power of an imaginary number and get a real number? Every time I try to do it I get an error. Does it only work on a complex plane in some way? I mean I guess it get that it just happens, but, how does that actually work out?

NASA made some announcements regarding LENR/cold fusion. To my knowledge they haven't demonstrated anything. From what I have read they seem to be promoting the Widom Larsen theory which isn't accepted by the mainstream scientific community. Hope they don't embarrass themselves the way Utah did in 1989 ... http://coldfusion3.com/blog/nasa-publicly-reveals-lenr-research http://nickelenergy.wordpress.com/2011/06/02/chief-scientist-at-nasa-langley-acknowledges-andrea-rossi-e-cat/

I recently watched the documentary series "Through The Worm Hole with Morgan Freeman" in Science Discovery Channel. One interesting thing I found was the work of Dr.Michael Persinger and his God Helmet. If out of body experiences can be induced on people at request whenever we desire to have it then if in someway get to know those minute complex stimulations of the temporal lobes in the brain which induce the experience of a personal god then it will be proved beyond doubt that "Man created God" rather than the other way around. The point is people who claim that Man created God should back up their claim with an evidence showing that the experience of a personal god…

Hi all, Just contemplating the speed of light... If a photon travels in direction A and is forced to emit another photon also in direction A. Then from the point of veiw of the first photon, the second photon would accelerate away from it at c. Does that mean the second photon is now travelling at 2c?
