  1. I had a personal experience tuesday morning at about 05:00...

I was driving to the Walgreens pharmacy due to an intense sinus headache, planning on buying some Nyquil. I knew I was sick but all of a sudden i became severely nauseous and stopped the jeep to get out and lose my cookies. I woke up lying on the pavement beside a huge puddle of upchuck, i looked up at the sky and saw the beautiful stars but I was too weak to get up.

I was on my back in the middle of the busiest intersection in my city, I slowly got up and scanned my surroundings. I was in the middle of the intersection of two 4 lane streets, strip malls and street lights all around me where shining bright... but no cars, no humans, nothing but neon lights and sodium vapor lights as far as the eye could see!

This was one of the oddest experiences I ever had made even more surreal by the total lack of other humans. Suddenly I felt like i was at the start some sort of apocalyptic Science fiction movie. Really strange, As I slowly stood up to climb back in my jeep I thought how great it would be if a cop showed up.

really odd to wake up laying in the city's busiest intersection and see no other humans.

It was weird! I used to spend a lot of time fishing at night and coming and going to the beach at all hours of the night and I never saw the streets this deserted. Wilmington, NC has 117,000 people, the county has 229,000 people including Wilmington, not exactly metropolis but it seemed like no one was home the morning of the 1st.

Even more troubling if you woke up to find Rod Serling standing over you, saying ...
"You're travelling through another dimension, a idmension not only of sight and sound, but of mind ..."

Get yourself checked out, and get better.

  4. I found a house in my price range near where the Maco Light used to be. They took up the railroad tracks and replaced them with houses. I wonder what happened to the Maco Light, where did it go?

Where do ghost lights go when their natural habitat is destroyed?

    2. Phi for All

      Phi for All

Probably removed the sign/reflector the light was bouncing off of when they removed the tracks and road. I don't know where ALL the ghost lights go, but the bad ones go to prism.

    3. Moontanman

      Moontanman

I've seen the Maco light, several times, I do not know what it was but reflector it wasn't. I always figured it was some kind of electrical phenomena associated with the RR tracks. Not everyone could see it even when others did. It was weird enough to make a sceptics hair stand up... it did mine.

I often wonder if it would still be there after the tracks were taken down but the area is lighted now with street lights and no way to see such a dim red glow with the lights drowning everything out.

To be fair the amount of lighting in the area seems more than a bit extreme, I wonder if the light has something to do with that. It was nearly 50 years ago now but if I remember correctly a news crew managed to film it once but that could be wishful thinking on my part.

  5. I'm growing self cloning crayfish, anyone else interested in this?

I used to breed dwarf crayfish commercially, in the time these self cloning crayfish have resulted in many dozens of crayfish I would have been lucky to get a dozen having started out with just two.

    3. Moontanman

      Moontanman

I have a couple of "proprietary" methods of insuring crayfish breed out of season, every 28 days to be specific. But these self cloning females breed continuously with no need to trick them into season.  No need for males either and none appear in the clone's broods.

My self cloning crayfish have resulted in such a numerous population i am using them as fish food. The down side is that some escape and start eating my plants.

  6. I spend a lot of time watching youtube videos and I've noticed that some of the less reputable sites are using buzz words to try and get you too watch lately "massive" seems to be the word of choice ie

" Scientists have observed something massive near the Sun" or

" Scientists have observed something massive on the Moon" I am just waiting for "Scientists have observed something massive emerging from Uranus"

Arnold Shwarzenegger said in his emotional video clip yesterday that American democracy is like this Conan sword he's holding, that US democracy will get stronger with each tempering (Capitol raid) just like this sword gets stronger with fire and water. It was a very good video and much needed in light of current events but he forgot about one crucial thing which renders his clip a scary cliche - the sword is a movie prop.

  16. Hi guys, I am in sunny California where oranges grow on trees in people's yards and evidently it never really rains! I flew out here to see my son and grandchild and help them get their house upacked and set up.

My dad died days before I arrived andIfound out I had inherited al of his properties... Sort of... But he didn't leave a will so everything is in "probate" and all his properties will be sold to settle his debts and I have to make sure this gets done.

I named my son executor of his estate, my son volunteered btw.

I feel like I went on vacation only to find the sword of damacles floating over my head.

    Fun fun in sunny CA!

To make matters worse my dad died, I'm having problems getting information at this time since my step mom and my dad were my only source of info...

Sorry to hear of your loss and the invasion of your stepmother's house. As long as there is breath in a body and a will to carry on, people inevitably do...

  21. Does anyone on here know anything about riding lawn mowers? I have a craftsman Lt1000. last time I mowed the blades wouldn't disengage and the lever went loose. Now it will not even turn over as though the blades were still engaged and I can't figure out how to fix it. Any ideas out there?

    1. zapatos

      zapatos

I once had a pack rat chew through the wires that monitored whether or not someone was sitting on the seat. Since there was no signal that I was indeed on the seat, the lawnmower would not start as part of that standard safety feature. Fixed the wire and all was good with the world.

  23. I started riding motorcycles in 1970, dirt bikes, a yamaha 125 enduro lasted almost two years of hill climbing, and tearing through the woods and hills of WV but i tired of that and i wanted a street bike. A RD 350 yamaha bought by working for a year at a local grocery story provided the funds and and i enjoyed "cafe" type racing throughout all the little twisting roads  that snaked through the mountains and I thought I had the world by the tail until one day i saw this on the cover of a motorcycle magazine. I still have that magazine encased in plastic for all time

     https://www.motorcycle.com/features/archive-1971-yamaha-gl-750.html

I worked as many hours as possible hoping to one day own that beautiful motorcycle but finally I got tired of waiting and bought a Kawasaki 900. I thought I'd never forgive yamaha for not producing that motorcycle but I forgave them when the yamaha 1100 midnight special became mine.

But I still dream about what it would have been like to have thrashed the curves on a motorcycle, that at the time, was close to 5 years head of everyone else in nearly every way. Just before yamaha decided not to produce a street legal version of the bike, opting instead for the TZ 750 road racer it was rumoured the production bike was going to be a 1000cc two stroke 4 along with reed valves, fuel injection, hydraulic disc brakes and liquid cooling, all this in 1971!...   Sadly my dream never came true but I still have my baby in my dreams.
