  2. We do a typical practice of aceto-orsein staining of buccal epithelial cells from female students to visualize Barr bodies under the light microscope. All the illustrations and pictures in the books depict a Barr body located on the edge of the nucleus, but that is not always the case in the students' samples. Given that the cell is a 3D structure, I couldn't explain why the Barr body would localize itself to edge of the nucleus with respect to the viewer's 2D perspective. In a related article's (see link below) introduction, a statement is found saying: "In interphase, the inactive X chromosome (Xi) is found as a condensed heterochromatic Barr body, usually position…

Existence of biological uncertainty principle implies that we can never find 'THE' measure for biological complexity. There are innumerable 'biological complexity measure's. While some patterns emerge from these attempts to represent biological complexity, a single measure to encompass the seemingly countless features of biological systems, still eludes the students of Biology. It is the pursuit of this paper to discuss the feasibility of finding one complete and objective measure for biological complexity.https://arxiv.org/pdf/0902.0490.pdf What do you think of this?

Have yeasts that are used for making bread, been used for making cheese, beers/ethanol and other products, and viceversa; or do not always work well outside the 'customary/intended' application? Are several different yeasts ever used simoultaneously combined at a variety of proportions to produce something ?

  8. I believe there is variation in brain genetics within races. Is it true that there is no variation between them? This actually seems like a statistical impossibility, and is contrary to any between group genetic findings in other species. Can it really be true? If so it would be utterly remarkable. How was this fact established?

  11. Perhaps off topic, but oxygen isn't need for animal life. https://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/04/100416-oxygen-free-complex-animals-mediterranean/ I believe Mars has lots of life, including animals, oxygen using or not. I believe that I saw in one of the first photos of the first Martian landers, perhaps the first lander, a pair of animals like Armadillos, and their eyes were on the lander's camera as it moved. I can't find the photo online though.

  12. Hi As I understand it in perhaps somewhat simplistic terms, cells can be divided into the following two broad types according to how they interact with energy: Type 1. Energy-storage cells such as fat storage cells and liver glycogen storage cells which store energy. Type 2. Energy-using cells such as brain cells and muscle cells which use energy to perform various functions including cell division. I would like to gain some understanding of the differences between how insulin and possibly other hormones interact with different types of cell. I would therefore be very grateful to anyone who can answer the following 14 questions. 01. The two types …

Hi Everyone A few weeks ago I was watching a documentary on TV in which a doctor said that people with a very low amount of salivary amylase should consume much less starch because it will cause them to have blood sugar spikes. This confused me because I would have thought that if a person has less amylase to convert starch into sugar, they will be able to consume more starch, not less. Does anyone here understand why the doctor said what he said? Thank you very much, Kind regards Tim

Recently I have run into this type of channel on Youtube: (Deleted) Where people in the comment section praise the ideology of this man as they were real/fact - that evolution is not real or a science! I see the danger since repeating a lie over and over again can become a reality for others since very few people fact-check statements these days! What do you believe creationism is doing better than science to promote their ideas and why are people so happy with those ideas!?

  15. Yes yes, we all know transcranial magnetic simulation, no need for explanation here, just a circular loop that exact magnetic field on a brain. But what if, we can increase the precision of this magnetic field so we can pinpoint the location of the neurons we want to signal? Sort of like a directed electromagnetic field/radiation probe, or a tweezer combines with MRI or well a microscope if you absolutely must open the brain I hope this is not the case

However, it would be great if someone can help me to confirm them or maybe give some suggestion for me to identify them.

  20. One of the advantages to farming in a dry state like California is that with less rain, you have so much more sunlight. One of the disadvantages is that you have to use a hell of a lot of non-salty water just to make it work. What I'm wondering is, what's stopping it from seeping into the groundwater, and gradually shifting toward non-farmland vegetation that could use it too? I look at the fact that California is on fire again; it seems to be an annual thing; and I find it odd that such a supposedly dry state could have naturally built up enough combustible vegetation in the first place to sustain several years' worth of forest fires. I cannot thi…

After studying stem cells usage on heart tissue repair I found this message. The stem cells do not turn into heart cells themselves, but their growth factor help the heart cells to proliferate into new heart cells and clearing away scars. This means if I inject patient A's stem cells into patient B, I do not start growing patient A's cells in my body. Is this correct?

  24. According to wikipedia, osmosis is NEITHER the diffusion of water molecules. NOR is it due to solutes tying up free water molecules in the solution side (causing there to be less free water). This is contrary to what many textbooks say (which may be to make it simple to understand). If it's not diffusion, then how does the solution side draw water from the solvent side?

I've read this article here and I come to the conclusion that, as long as scar does not develop, all tissues would heal. The only reason that tissues do not heal properly is because scar develops and stops the healing process. Therefore, if the scar does not develop, any tissue would undergoes the healing process of proliferation and regeneration. ClaronY, prove me wrong, this is speculation
