  1. According to wikipedia, osmosis is NEITHER the diffusion of water molecules. NOR is it due to solutes tying up free water molecules in the solution side (causing there to be less free water). This is contrary to what many textbooks say (which may be to make it simple to understand). If it's not diffusion, then how does the solution side draw water from the solvent side?
  2. Hello, I have been looking everywhere to find the answer for this, because I don't want to take anything at face value. Basically, calcium and phosphate are related. Their absorption is increased by vit D. They are also both eliminated by the kidneys in urine. I am wondering why in CKD, hyperphosphatemia is an issue, but not hypercalcemia? If kidney function goes down, that means both calcium and phosphate will suffer inn terms of elimination. Also, with reduced vit D activation, both calcium and phosphate will suffer in terms of absorption. So why does literature only mention that phosphate is retained in CKD? I think it should be both hypercalcemia and hyperphosphatemia.
