  1. Why do schools not test for high emotional IQ. A high emotional IQ is bad. A high emotional IQ can lead to crime and killing becuase the person is too emotional and fines he or she cannot control his or her emotional outpust. Say your girlfread left you or you lost your job some one may feel sad or angry where people that score high on emotional IQ have a outpust and cannot control them self thus can lead to crime, killing or assault. Can lead to unpretective sex thus could get HIV, sleeping around with 10 people a day, and robbery, assault and break ins so on. People with high emotional IQ have harder time in school and drop out of school more and ge…

I have two instruments for measuring my blood pressure, arm and wrist. The diastolic readings (lower) tend to agree. However the systolic (higher) readings tend to be far apart. The arm reading runs about 30 points higher. Is this a meaningful difference or a sign of instrument error?

Pardon the noob question but how would one go about finding everything a researcher has published (or every paper he has published, if it's not possible to search for books and other publications), presuming you had to do it through databases, rather than going to wiki or his personal website.

So I’ve been playing this cool space travel game and Out of no where I had a couple ideas pop into my head on the game I was trying to find as many earth-like planets as I could and I found out that other scientists have been trying to find life on other planets as well so I thought maybe instead of searching the universes so aimlessly we could narrow down our search for other earths by looking at universes that have suns with same temperatures color and sizes as our own sun. I had another Idea as well constructing a rocket engine that’s capable of releasing all of the rockets fuel at once I thought this could maybe make rockets travel faster than normal what are your t…

Currently, our company are going to built a mini sputtering system with a low cost. Our RF Sputtering having rotary pump only. We planned for not to use Turbo Molecular pump as it is more expensive. I need a suggestion on what are the suitable material deposition that I can use for our RF sputtering?

  6. Hi, In regard to the picture posted, I think that the shape of the two semi-egg shaped arches crossing over eachother is in fact a 2D representation of a 3D shape. The 3D shape being a semi-sphere or similar and outlined, so to speak, by 4 arms which are positioned equidistantly in a circle and arch up to a central point: thus forming a semi-sphere shape. If this is the case, what would such a 2D projection be called? And would anyone know how to identify the precise viewing angle required in order that an interpretation of 3D semi-sphere would appear as the 2D arches shape on the jewel? Thanks in advance and please let me know if you have any questions. I…

There are many scientific watches the ones with calculators, navigation, etc., (not smartwatches) I have a thing for analog watches with some new technology which are like unique for its own. I go freakish for those kinds of watches. Looking for any reference to any good scientific watches.

  9. Hello all, I'm someone who's rather proggression ecentric and likes hearing new ideas. Even though I consider myself a scientific individual...I believe that due to the facts that if you have enough experience, intellect, and otherwise there are other ways of finding out truth on life besides the stereotypical scientific method. I've by questioning main stream info, being open minded, listening to everybody, etc...that I have discovered things rare to know. If obvious I like studying the theories that create science I'd love to hear any uncommon theories, observations, and otherwise perceived legitimate beliefs. Please refrain from posting one's th…

Hello dear music lovers! Church bells are still made today like in the Middle Age: Cu80Sn20Pb0 bronze cast in a one-way clay mould. One batch of varied middle-sized bells takes six weeks of hard work to ten persons. I propose instead to electroform them. A well-developed technology, electroforming can deposit varied metals and alloys, from ultra-thin to thick, on diversely shaped mandrels, bulk conductive or not, and separate the created item from the mandrel. Here bronze and the bell shape are easy. Maybe the mandrel can be of wax on wood, or talcum-loaded paraffin... In one interesting option, the mandrel itself would be obtained by electroforming on…

Assuming that higher or lower dimensional beings exist, how would a 2-dimensional being living on a 3 dimensional sphere with a finite radius perceive the sphere. Will the being perceive the sphere as a finite radius circle that is a projection of the sphere or will the being perceive it as an infinitely large plane?

When I was a kid, there was a big move to replace steel fire escape open stairs on schools with a metal tube-slide. They worked fine for awhile, but all to shortly, they lost their slipperiness, would not longer work as a slide...kids would get stuck, therefore they lost their function and were abandoned. As an adult who learned about metallurgy, I attributed the loss of function to the fact that they were constructed from Aluminum and once the protective wax (an assumption it was a wax), wore off, the Aluminum quickly formed its Oxide resulting in a microscopic layer of Aluminum Oxide... which is an abrasive due to the sharp crystalline edges. However, some…

  16. Long story short, several years ago I made a stupid choice, and circumstances surrounding that choice left me little option but to plead guilty to a felony charge. This incident was the first and last time I've ever been in any kind of legal trouble. I am currently trying to better myself, provide a better life for my family, etc. I am very interested in pursuing an education in material science, which I k ow covers a wide range of potential career paths. My question is: do I have a real chance at landing a job in the sciences with a felony conviction? By the time I would finish earning a bachelor's it will have been over 10 years since conviction. I'm just trying to find…

  17. I would like to know exactly what is the difference between the meaning of the terms "proof" and "evidence" since I feel like a lot of people use the term proof when they discern something that is explicitly indicative of something else happening, but can possibly still even yet be dismissed by further "proof" that the previous "proof" is untrue and must be debunked. If someone could clear up the meaning of these two concepts, that would be great!

  22. Hi. My son has been diagnosed with Oculocutaneous Albinism, and is now being seen by a genetics counsellor who requires mine and his fathers DNA to test the genes we have, and therefore understand better the genes passed to him to give him this condition. I understand enough that me and his father both carry a gene that led to us having a 1:4 chance of having a child with Albinism, and a 1:2 chance they would be a carrier. (Please correct me if i'm wrong!) :-) We had 2 sons, one has Oculocutaneous Albinism and the other doesn't. My question is from my father wanting to know how I got the gene? Did it mean both my parents had the abnormal gene and passed i…

  23. (International Business Times) Chocolate could reportedly vanish as early as 2050. This revelation has led scientists from the University of California at Berkeley to work with Virginia-based manufacturer Mars, Incorporated to save the cacao plant from disappearing. Warmer temperatures and drier weather conditions are expected to be the root of the cacao plants' potential disappearance, according to Business Insider. New technology, known as CRISPR, is being used by UC Berkeley scientists to modify the DNA of the plants. The crop's tiny seedlings would be able to survive in different climates if the experiment is proven successful. Cacao plants or…
