I don't have a degree. I just brainstormed this privately.. Previous brainstorming was locked: (UbuntuForums, Smart Videogames) Page three was interesting. https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2424256&page=3 Summary: There may be shared mechanical properties of biological pathways and other "pathways" such as my "informational pathways." Their apprehension might be more convenient with certain visualizations. Information flow innovations might protect humanity's social progress. Start graphing information flow! One day, I was imagining possible biological pathways for certain hormones, and I found that certain visualizations profoundly …

  2. According to many sources, the ultimate compression strength of human femurs along its long axis (vertically) is 205 mpa or 29700 psi. I tried to convert 205 mpa to kg/cm² and the result is 205 mpa is equal to 2090.41824 kg/cm². So, I think the maximum weight that a human femur can support vertically before breaking is 2 tonnes. Isn't it? But with different method of calculation, I got a drastically different answer. The maximum diameter of human femurs is 3 cm and some exceeded 3 cm by 5 mm or more especially in weightlifters. So I followed this calculation from https://openoregon.pressbooks.pub/bodyphysics/chapter/stress-and-strain-on-the-body/. First we divide the…

Hi, I've been searching online but have not managed to find an answer to my question (most likely due using search terms that lead to unrelated answers). When using "which" in the the case of: Rule 2b. Which introduces a nonessential clause (also known as a nonrestrictive or nondefining clause), which adds supplementary information. Example: The product claiming "all natural ingredients," which appeared in the Sunday newspaper, is on sale. The product is already identified. Therefore, which appeared in the Sunday newspaper is a nonessential clause containing additional, but not essential, information. In this usage of "which", are there any d…

I need to run a gel for 2 hours at constant 23W until the voltage reaches 3000V. After a few trials it reaches 3000V in 50 minutes and 23W drops to 3W. Are there any limits or parameters that I can set up on the electric source in order for it to run longer? Also will it affect my gel if I keep it running after it reaches 3000V at 3-4W ? After I image the gel my bands are not fully separated.

  6. I have a hard time getting my head around the space that everything occupies, if it does, somehow, go on forever, which I feel is impossible, how can anything have come into existence at a certain point in infinite space where there isn't a reference point?, infinity doesn't make sense. And then again, if the space we occupy IS finite, how can that be possible?, a finite boundary means there is a boundary, but boundaries have two sides to them.

Thoughts about a modernized oboe da caccia with my even oboe fingerings. The range competes with the cor anglais. The very distinctive sound makes the oboe da caccia useful, to be kept. If it results from huge losses at the body, as I believe, these must be kept or reproduced otherwise. I wish a low Bb despite old scores write to C. Some orchestras play a semitone lower the baroque scores. Playing the same scores on all saxophones is also very convenient, so the oboe family should copy it. A body straight at the five lowest tone holes eases my even oboe fingerings. All known historical shapes were straight at the lower end. A low joint could be assembled th…

Can a list of all the essentials needed, including necessary conditions for creating every thing lead to the discovery of creation in numerical order and time, and predictions of future creations. This is equivalent to producing the periodic table which has led to many discoveries.

Hi, got a query, I remember reading about two types of energy a while ago, and I can't find them anywhere. I'm not even sure if I imagined them or not. All I get from web searches are different types of fusion, renewable energy or energy companies. Can anybody tell me the names of them please, sorry for poor descriptions, 1) apparently if you can squeeze water through a really tiny space it will produce electricity? 2) this one involves vibrating an atom, I think, to produce electricity? again, sorry for really rubbish descriptions but that's all I can remember, that's why I was searching for them. Was going to post in news. The second on…

  13. I'm curious about word inflections. I think that's the term. Have you heard the KraftWerk line, "When I press a special key, it plays a little melody." (I guess you'd call it a line rather than a lyric, since it's spoken and not sung). The first part goes up in tonal frequency, and the second part continues further on up the scale before the last word which is way back down the low tonal scale. It's like the first part sets one up for 'a surprise', the second continues on up towards a tonal climax, and the 'little novel' ends with a tonal 'crash' or anticlimax. A sentence like, "When I go to the store, I usually find what I need." follows a similar but differen…

  14. I am in academic research but also like to collect vintage scientific equipment and parts from back in the day. I bought one item a couple years ago which has been on the shelf in my office ever since. It is in a nice wooden box so it looks nice even though I have no idea what it is. The logo on the front of the box reads "Advanced Metals Research Corp". Attached are pictures of the contents of the box. Anyone recognize this?

  15. Yes. Theories are interpretations of experimental/observational evidence. The experiment can't be wrong, but the interpretation can. That is why theories are never proven.

I moved into my house in the suburbs of Myrtle Beach, SC almost five years ago and really have enjoyed the milder winters, but several times over the past 4 years I have had one particular shrub die off unexpectedly. At first I did not think too much of it, until I caught a neighbor at the edge of my yard with a gallon bottle of Round Up with a sprayer wand. I confronted him and asked what he was doing and he made a lame excuse that he was spraying for weeds in his front yard. He left quickly and went back into his house. He passed away two years ago and I thought it was over. Wrong, although I have helped his widow many times in the past two years, I just had another o…

  17. I’m looking for an amateur blog online that talks postulates a future/sci-fi tech/science/Idea/Concept in the style of an “of the Week” feature. I already watch Isaac Arthur but I want something I can read. It doesn’t necessarily have to be in English (I can translate it), it just has to be ongoing as of now, consistent and creative. Some ideas can be broad; others unique and specific. Every week at the least.

    I have made with "Visual Basic" a [10*10] ChessBoard with 2 twins-Kings and chesspieces that: (1) they move and play like their images... and (2) you have 3 Basic "simple pieces" ( the soldier-Rook & the soldier-Bishop & the Knight ) which you can "step-by-step" add together ( with the Help of Transformers-Buttons ) to make 29 more "complex pieces" !!! ( you can separate them "step-by-step" again !!!... ) ( 001 = 3 = "soldier-Rook" / 010 = 5 = "soldier-Bishop" / 100 = 7 = Knight) - ( Each chesspiece has 2 Numbers !!!... ) Example: ( Addition: 001 + 010 = 011 / Multiplication: 3 * 5 = 15 ) ( The "011" shows how the piece…

Just say I had enough anti-matter to get the US space shuttle (34 Mtr long), to the nearest star. If the shuttle was half way between the earth and the moon and was hit by something and exploded, would the explosion be big enough to wipe out the earth? What about the solar system? Would you be able to see it light years away?

Hello everybody and everyone! I'd like to share some thoughts about sound perception here. ========== First, does the phase of the harmonics matter in a periodic sound? This was a debated question when Hi-Fi was fashionable, and is still interesting. Here's a piece of software I made for more general purposes. It creates a file Tut.wav playable by Winamp, Windows' Sndrec32.exe, Media Player and probably more. The user defines a spectrum (hence of a periodic sound), the soft writes the sound in the file. TutD.zip I recommend to listen with headphones rather than PC loudspeakers that create misleading distortion even at low level. And this…

Hi everybody! I am trying to find the difference between density fitting (DF) and resolution of the Identity (RI) approximations. I have read the following in the article [J. Chem. Phys. 118, 8149 (2003)]: "Density fitting mathematically resembles a resolution of the identity RI in the specific case where the fitting criterion and target integral type coincide. However, RIs in quantum mechanics usually involve a summation over states and an implied overlap metric, neither of which appear in density fitting. Furthermore RIs do not offer a framework in which to discuss fitting criteria, constraints or robust fitting." I still do not …

Do you think this is a trend that may soon become global? Also how does it impact human beings to be chipped on a social, economical and psychological level?
