Yes, Science Fair time again...Don't you love it. Last year (keep in mind, this is in 6th Grade), I did a project on Hormesis and won! Oh, well...This year I have difficulty choosing a project...I was thinking of doing something on Biodiversity, the Gaia Theory, or Parallel Universes...The only problem is that it either needs to be an experiment or a physical representation of a model of that thing...). So I am having a lot of trouble trying to find a model for the Gaia Theory (maybe Daisyworld...), Biodiversity, or Parallel Universes. So If any of you have any suggestions for these projects or even suggestions for new ones, any help would be appreciated greatly...Thank y…

I hope nobody minds my chattering, I keep a pretty big diary and this is about my senior home visit. Last Monday, I had no school, and dad took a day off, so we went to the mall for some shopping then ended up at the senior home like I promised and boy was I shocked. I've never been to one so I expected a dark gloomy place full of sad old people that read bible books and had nurses all the time. Geez....was I wrong. This place is really cool. Some people live there but others just come and hang around like a club. Beyond the living areas, there are four main rooms, a hobby like room where people are cutting, gluing and pasting, a quiet room for reading books, an enter…

  11. Hey guys, thought I would do something funny and interesting for my first thread. We in the scientific community all know that MOST lab safety videos are from the 1970's and are sometimes found drop dead hilarious by the viewing public. I would like to know your experiences, and what has been the funniest event described by a lab safety video, give details!! Ok fine I'll post mine first. The funniest thing I have seen in a LSV was: There was a student heating a test tube over a bunsen burner, and pointing it toward an adjacent student. The scene cuts and shows the adjacent student being shot in the eyes with an off-screen super soaker, and then calmly saying …

You have to see the vids and screens of BattleFeild2. It's a pretty good looking game. It's also a lot more realistic, especially with that new material penetration fix (only certain certain weapons can destroy metal, most can destroy a thin sheet of rubber, etc.). The new weapons look good too....but the multiplayer is still only 64 player . If you have BattleFeild1942, get the desert combat final mod for it. Encrypted

Dear members of the Nobel Committee, I hereby nominate Tom Leykis for a Nobel Prize for the year 2005, for his superfluous work on human male courting rituals and his general promotion of human male independence. His contributions in both fields are equivalent, if not superior to, the mapping of the human genome, the mastering of the atom, and a peaceful solution to the violence in the war-ravaged mid-eastern communities, all rolled in to one. With his unique combination of a highly evolved/superior intellect, and stunning insight/experience, the Professor reaches out to men and women (primarily men) and illustrates the essentials for one of the most primal, compu…

those ads at the top of each page are google adverts... from what i understand these work on a basis of forum owner gets paid every time one is clicked on. you can click on it and exit the page immediately and the "site owner" would still get paid. that is what ive read happens anyway. if this is true, presumably blike gets the money???? if those two things are true we could start a "click on the ad once per week" club ..... it'd get blike some money and would be an easy way of us to say thanks to him. sadly he wont get much money per 'click' so it'd need quite a few people to do this to get him some noticeable money. also ive also read that you ca…

The other day I was measuring with a ruler and I wrongly assumed that inches were divided into tenths. I've spent four years in science class and the metric system is pretty much how I think these days. Nonetheless, it took me about 2 minutes to figure out what the heck was going on with the ruler. Finally I realized that it was divided into 8ths instead of 10ths. Then I had to convert all the stupid decimals from calcluations into 8ths. RIDICULOUS I SAY!

Greetings: I'm trying to find a quotation. I believe it was Einstein (but may very well be wrong) and it goes something like this: "Be careful not to confuse the mathematical description of a clock with the actual workings of the clock inside the box into which you cannot see." The quotation I'm looking for speaks to the difference between a scientific model which predicts (maybe perfectly) how some phenomenon may behave and the actual, physical, thing. Does anyone know the quote I'm looking for? thanks.
