Ever tried to tell someone how to use a particular bit of BB code, and had to tell them something like "remove the spaces to make the tags work"? Then you'll have probably given up and gone for a cigarette when they said "what spaces?" VB includes a tag called noparse which you can use for displaying BB code as normal text. Any BB code enclosed by the noparse tags will be ignored when the post is parsed and rendered to the browser. So, for example, if I take this... Bold text ...and surround it with noparse tags... Bold text ...you will see this: Bold text Try it out!

Tags are a relatively new feature on vBulletin forums, and from looking at the tags which have been added to threads so far it looks like a short tutorial might be needed. What are Tags? Tags are metadata keywords. This means that they are data about data, in other words they describe content. Why use Tags? Tags have several functions: They let members and search engines find content by keyword, They give a brief overview as to what the main subject of content is about, They allow content to be ordered into related subjects, They can show how popular a subject is. How should Tags be entered? When you start a thread, you can add tags t…

I've noticed my tex stuff is overcramped when displayed, these days so I'm finding out how to make it bigger. [math]{P_{n = 3}} = \left\{ {1 - {{\left( {\frac{5}{6}} \right)}^3}} \right\} = \left\{ {1 - \left( {\frac{{125}}{{216}}} \right)} \right\} = \frac{{91}}{{216}}[/math] It comes out bigger on my TEX editor, but is cut back here Any suggestions?

How can I start a poll on this site? I thought it might be useful to get the opinions of the community. Are there any special rules for polls? Am I allowed to ask about religion, political standing, and other sort of touchy subjects? Thanks.

Question: Is surface tension holding the photosphere together more than the Gravitational fields ??? Judging by the way Solar storms rip thru the Photosphere then contracting back to reform, it seems that the Photosphere is more in surface tension not gravitational compression. http://solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov/feature1.shtml Storm watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91H4qgFCauQ zorro

A quick question, as I wish to know this, rather than playing around with precious reputation points, but if I am to unselect the approve button beside a reputation comment, does that transform it into anti- reputation, which works against a user, or something along those lines? (yes I know, not a real word...) Or does it rather simply mean the comment is not meant to boost reputation, but is merely conversational? ps: Anti- reputation reminds me of anti- matter, just without the fuss of mass- destruction, and death.

You all probably know about the consecutive post merger already, which combines consecutive posts in a thread if they come from the same member. Sometimes knowing where one post ends and another begins would be helpful. So is this better? Wait for it... Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedHere's my second post in this thread Previously, there was no indication in the merged post as to where the original post ended and the subsequent post began.
