Have you seen the movie "enemy at the gates" in this movie there is shown that soviet russia is at war with the east germans. So in this movie depiction the ruins seems just like bombay industrial age ruins. So i postulate a theory of time shift, where some society races do some time shift. Like lets say the sci-fi movie named "aliens2" wherein it seems the scenario and creation artists state that the movie was created in year 1977. But the artefacts and science things are of the years 1992. So the movie makers seems like they portals time travel technique to reach back in time in year 1975 and made a movie there becoming age reversing but with advanced things. Saying…

hi, ( I think)I have created a new style in (popular) music.and I believe my voice is special and great. but as you see all these are subjective. to be objective these needs to be certified (by any music publishing association) but I am unsure whether it would be possible to do it under one rule below (this is one of my principles) -->> I can not sign (giving signature) to any contracts of course ,this is relevant to payment. these days I have too strict economic problems . but I am sure that I have highly creative personality. really I am unsure whether using the music will make me gain money, too. thats why already everyone prefer using internet to reac…

  3. I had a conversation a while ago with someone who regularly viewed pornography, who was of an age that the internet has always been an integral part of their lives. It transpired that what they viewed, in the various styles and approaches in them were things to emulate themselves and had bodies to aspire to which were outside the norm; like supermodels, only often surgically enhanced. The overall theme I got from them was that what they saw depicted was what sex should be like in real life; seen as sex education videos, I suppose. I’m sure this perception is replicated amongst young people the world over. What will be the longterm effect on how such individuals…

Is it physically possible to have a superhydrophobic effect that repels specific liquids (such as acid) and not just water? I'm posting in Lounge and not science because I was thinking about a specific scene in Terminator Genisys and it got me wondering. Then I thought about if a mimetic polyalloy Terminator could render itself invulnerble to a Xenomorph alien's acid blood by reshaping its surface to be superacidiphobic (or whatever the proper term may be)? I guess we could just invoke the "magic technology" trope but suspension of disbelief has to be drawn somewhere.

  6. I was listening to an interview, I can't even remember whom it was with any more, but he was talking about how much rougher the army used to be and he said the drill instructor would read your GFs letters to everyone to humiliate you and build your chracter up, and I thought, that's quite rough in terms of privacy, but why would it be humiliating? Was this really a common practice? What is the point, how is it humiliating?

Maybe some of you were born after those missions or were to young at the time. I just want to share the feelings I had at the time. I was startled by the complexity and diversity of our solar system. All those worlds so different from each other inside in such a tiny little bit of the universe made me realise that Shakespeare saw it all hundreds of years before. " There are more things in heaven and earth horatio than are dreamt of in your philosophy " In the Universe the complexy and beauty of all the things are beyond our most wild imagination just for the small sample in our little corner. After all those missions proved that all those scifi writers were rig…

This article is a bit goofy but the fish and the pictures are awesome! Do we have any native fish enthusiasts on Texas? Ever encounter these fishes? I think they are related to Flathead Catfish but their underground environment has changed them considerably. They are occasionally brought up out of wells, such fish cannot be sent back due to the way the wells are constructed. Breeding them would be quite a feather in the cap of the breeder! https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jun/19/blind-catfish-discovered-texas-cave-mexico Do we have members from Texas who are familiar with this fish?

  12. My teeth are highly sensitive.(but gums are more more sensitive) realised its reason is just brushing.. here is a new way to protect them more healthy that I thought. accordin to my opinion "we will not brush them so frequently like before.but we will use too much toothpaste ,but only toothpaste. we will take toothpaste ,and wait for around 5-6 minute up to 10 minute.we will not brush then." I think brushing our teeth injures our teeth(gums) ,especially whoes teeth are sensitive like mines.and so taht we would be able to protect our gums. I think if this is logical ,we may be able to keep them healthier ,furthermore if this is useful ,we should not care to the t…

I made my sunday rounds today, I hate having to fill out all that paper work but the police assured me that this time the bodies wouldn't be buried in consecrated ground and have to be dug back up like last time. The way the faces of the priests at the local orphanage light up with the thought of saving the souls of those little kids is really gratifying. Sad their parents seemed to think that working on sunday was an out dated law but you know what they say. Ignorance of the law is no excuse! Well back to another lazy sunday...

I'm either going to get a complete lash back or some kind of 60/40 response: Have the mods/ admins ever considered removing the "Politics" and "Religion" forum topics? If not, I ask you consider it. My reasons for "Removing the Politics and Religion" forum topics: 1) Firstly, the rule goes, never talk about religion and politics 2) This is a SCIENCE forum, not a SCIENCE AND OPINION forum 3) P & R topics tend to be long winded, with no real end in sight, especially the POLITICS forum 4) P & R topics also show passionate/ emotional sides of members that wouldn't normally show in regular scientific discussion 5) P & R potentially kee…

  15. I thought I'd post this here since it's not exactly a homework question or discussion regarding a specific operation in a field/subject. Out of the following, which fields gravitate more towards applied physics/engineering (but not necessarily such a discipline)? Or maybe if that's confusing, another way I would ask this is, study in which of the following fields would lead into research on the most cutting edge of technology with a high likelihood of some degree of achievability of said technology within the foreseeable future? 1. Particle Physics 2. Quantum physics a. Quantum information science (computing, information theory, etc.) b. Quantum Field t…

So apparently my fly swatter has a capacitor on the output. I measured its lines DC and it read 170VDC. Okay... Now today I was thinking that my shock and the spark was too strong for 170VDC. I measured it at AC and it read 600VAC, and it kept increasing. Can anyone explain to me why this happens and how is it possible to have dc and ac on the same line? Sorry if this is the wrong section.

  18. Taking views expressed in Dawkins' The Selfish Gene Which of these 2 survival machines is more likely to reproduce successfully based solely on physical appearance? A B Further, would it be possible for these 2 to mate based solely on physical appearance? Third, would either be compromising were they to settle for one another? From my point of view, the male is at an advantage, his appearance seems quite natural, as if very little effort has been put into it, whereas the female has clearly made use of a hair stylist, or at least hair styling equipment, and perhaps hired a photographer and lighting staff to accentuate her features - this i…

Hello everyone! I recently 'got' the Trinité font family, but there's a problem in the installment. Ah well, I'm basically looking for a nice serif font (as complete family and characters [well ... at least a euro sign] as possible) with an italic that looks like this; I really like the unique italic from Trinité and am looking for an alternative with an almost as satisfying italic: Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks! F

I am not leaving any link look it up for yourself, because then there is no way this is advertising for the admins to censor whatever they please. Why allow discussion of other movies and censor this information that is relevant to society?

I have accepted a position as a research associate at the University of Luxembourg within the 'Unité de Recherche en Mathématiques'. The position comes with more responsability such as some teaching duties and supervision of students - undergraduate, masters and hopefully I can jointly supervise a PhD student. Exciting times ahead.

Off home to get out my box set of Trumpton, Chigley, and Camberwick Green (This is not a joke - it was probably the best present my mum ever got me)
