Hi, I have got the following program: class TestIndexInArray: def __init__(self, arr): ''' @param arr: array to be tested ''' self.arr = arr def printItemsIndex(self): ''' Prints the index of each item in a given array ''' # message to tell us when the function was called print(f'Print indexes for {self.arr}:') for i in self.arr: # find the index of i in arr itemIndex = self.arr.index(i) print(itemIndex) print('\n') …

'Artificial general intelligence (AGI) .. [or strong AI] is the intelligence of a machine that can understand or learn any intellectual task that a human being can.' (Wikipedia) Is there any evidence for such a system? I have done a good year of research and published on the matter, and up to now I have not read about such a system. Furthermore, predictions of strong AI soon to come have been given by reputable scientist like Marvin Minsky several times - and failed. For the time being, Strong AI looks like Speculation to me. But maybe I have a blind spot, are lack of access to the latest developements. Enlightenment please.

I want to use cobertura for coverage. I followed the following link: https://electric-cloud.com/plugins/directory/p/cobertura/ That link provides a EC-Cobertura.jar file through download. I think it creates a parameter for passing arguments to cobertura. I am trying to run EC-Cobertura.jar but its giving me error: I have already downloaded the cobertura and its installed on my ubuntu 18.04. And it has the same version as the tar file provides whose link is : https://sourceforge.net/projects/cobertura/ provided in the link of the associated help button page: But the help file does…

My name is Kevin and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Texas Permian Basin. I am doing a project in which I have to interview somebody that works in the field that I am pursuing. I am a Computer Science Major that is looking to interview anybody that has a job in the computer science field about how writing operates in this field. All I need to do is e-mail you a few quick questions. If you are interested at helping me you can send an e-mail to jarrettkevin10@gmail.com and I would just need to ask a few questions. It would be quick and I would be very grateful if somebody could help me with this, thank you.

Hi, I want to frame a Probability question for computer science students. I have got a simple idea but I want to refine it so that it becomes a more comprehensive real world problem. Let’s suppose there are 3 persons and each one is rewarded a gift but when he sees the gift he has got two options, he can either accept the gift or reject the gift. What is the probability that a person can reject the gift? Formula= number of successful outcomes/ Total number of equally likely outcomes = 1/2 At this point this is very simple. How the above can be converted into a more complex problem? Somebody please gui…

I know the moderators don’t like it when I post blocks of numbers. However, I am only asking if this number is the correct factor. I know I should know if I could actually factor. But to prove my method I tried to factor a 2048 bit number. This is what I got in about 15 minutes work. 1.165633406571949X10^409 Is the smallest factor of 5.998490465869536X10^615 Need more accuracy Let me know if I have successfully factored So so I need more digits accuracy than just 15 digits. But this gives the first 16 digits and the magnitude of 1.1*10^409. So it does eliminate possibilities. No…

I bought a cheap low end HP notebook, second one in 2 years. I'm not liking having to customize and format another computer but looks like I'm going to need to go through and delete a lot of operating code and unwanted Windows 10 garbage. It would be nice if I could delete Cortana but they seemed to have got that one covered. Windows 10 sucks ass and makes it feel like you don't even own your computer. I might get a retro Windows 7 or Windows 8 and wipe and reboot with that to avoid this pesky "everything must be accessible to Microsoft" trash. I hate you Microsoft. This is gonna take forever.

Hi, I am trying to understand knapsack problem from the following site: https://riptutorial.com/dynamic-programming/example/25787/0-1-knapsack-problem +----------+---+---+---+---+ | Item | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | +----------+---+---+---+---+ | Weight | 1 | 3 | 4 | 5 | +----------+---+---+---+---+ | Value | 1 | 4 | 5 | 7 | +----------+---+---+---+---+ n represents the number of items and w represents weight units. There should be n+1 rows and w+1 columns as discussed in the link: https://medium.com/@fabianterh/how-to-solve-the-knapsack-problem-with-dynamic-programming-eb88c706d3cf In the example we …

So while learning for an exam I came across the following sample: I have to create a routing table to the given network (attachement). There are 4 Routers (A-D) and the numbers on the connecting lines are the linkcosts. The routing tables are in the given format. Step | Router A | Router B | Router C | Router D | 0 | [ (0,A) (/,/) (/,/) (/,/) ] | [ (/,/) (0,B) (/,/) (/,/) ] | [ (/,/) (/,/) (0,C) (/,/) ] | [ (/,/) (/,/) (/,/) (0,D) ] | The tuples (x,y) show the costs and the Next-Hop target. You have to follow the given sequence and every vector in the …

In the book Introduction to Computation and Programming Using Python, Professor Guttag asserts that scalar objects are objects that are indivisible and lists int, float, bool, and None. He describes non-scalar objects as objects that have internal structure such as strings. This makes sense to me since a string is, in a sense, an array of characters. I was digging a little deeper and stumbled across an article that defines a scalar object as "an object that can have a single value" and includes both strings and complex numbers. This also makes sense to me if you follow this definition, so which is it? https://jpt-pynotes.readthedocs.io/en/latest/scalar-types.h…

Hello! I am studying computer science at UTEC (https://utec.edu.pe/) in Lima, Peru. I just finished my second year in college in December 2019. This winter, I travel to Utah to work at a Ski Resort for three months (mid-December to mid-March). When I graduate from college in Peru, I'm looking forward to living abroad and working in a big company in the States. I was searching for Computer Science short boot camps across the US. It would be really nice to spend my vacations in a CS program. Does anyone know a CS Boot Camp like that? It could be in any part of the US. Thank you!

This is a program I wrote. It isn't very useful yet because I need a software library that handles large numbers. But if you read it you will see what I have been saying all along. Of course I could be wrong, but that goes without saying. I need some computer scientist to explain how I can run a program similar to this one with large numbers. /* This program utilizes factor patterns to estimate the value p in the N=p*q keys in RSA and other cryptography ciphers that use the product of semi-prime numbers. Note it is complex to program math into a programming language. Large values could easily crash this program. As an example I recommend testing 85 for N and 5 f…

For the string correction problem, we are given 2 strings X and Y with a parameter k and asked whether X can be turned into Y by at most k edit operations. Assume that allowed operations are (i) deleting a simple character and (ii) swapping 2 consecutive characters. Give an algorithm that solve the problem in O(2^k n ) where n is the length of X.(java)

I have always been interested in technology and is one of the reasons I am studying computer science as my major. I believed that technology mostly betters our society and species but, In recent years, I have seen the impact of automation, and I am wondering this community's thoughts on it?

Apparently by 2030 21% of electricity demand will come from computers, a significant contribution to energy consumption. My understanding of quantum computers is that because they run at near absolute zero, there is negligible electrical resistance, making them exceptionally energy efficient. However, to achieve these temperatures must require a significant amount of energy. Overall would a quantum computing be more energy efficient than traditional computing?

Hi. In another thread, surfaced the trend that there is no compact disc reading/saving devices for personal files in the 'modern life' Noticed from a while ago, that many computers do not have a built-in CD unit any more. What about home stereos, car stereos; do they lack the CD now ? From 8 track to cassette to CD to MP3 to nothing. Where do modern people keep their music, videos, movies, photograph albums, personal files, documents, archives ? I would not buy a computer without an optical drive 😯

Is there a legit proof that creating tallies or any other sparse language in poly-time is impossible? Or is this just a conjecture widely believed? Please read the picture below before going to the links. I have a paste-bin for an algorithm that solves my decision problem. https://pastebin.com/kuj2sZys I have a repl link as well. https://repl.it/repls/WiryGrandioseSearch

I already explored these chatbots some months ago and chatted with one of them for a few hours, which was good fun but the novelty wore off. Chatbots are the product of their creators and their personalities reflect that. Some chatbots are nasty and sexually explicit, those ones aren't much fun and truthfully don't turn me on. ( cybersex? not interested) Anyways, I personally think this technology is the way of our future whether we like it or not. Soon students will have chatbot study companions, with learning A.I., taking the bulk of responsibility for educating young hopefuls. Same sort of "machine replacement" for humans where A.I. chat can be used will probably …
