TL DR: Is there anyone here knowledgeable about endocrinology, specifically hormone receptors, blocking them and upregulation? I'm wondering if you could tell me what is known about how receptor blockers cause regulation, specifically how long must you block a receptor in order to induce that response and how you might avoid that. THE LONG STORY: This relates to a potential anti-hair loss drug that runs into a problem related to this. The story is this: Clascoterone is being developed as a potential drug for treating male pattern baldness under the name Breezula (CB-03-01). Male pattern baldness progresses through DHT activating the andro…

I just watched a documentary on the pet food industry today and these are the facts that where stated. Seems all our pet foods no name brand all the way to high end brands are ALL produced at ONE company in Toronto which controls all of north America. All these dry dog and cat foods contain grains that where shipped from China (which have been found in the past to contain plastic ) which can be harmful to your dog and are often the source of poison and recalling in the pet food industry. It's also said that even though "Chicken" may be the first ingredient on the dog food label there is x3 the amount of GRAIN. Your pets should consuming more meat then grain produc…

Hi,guys. I am here to ask for your opinion about the cells should be used to test for anti-obesity properties (in-vitro studies). From what i've found, there are two types of cell line that can be use for anti-obesity properties. They are 3T3 L1 cells and OP9 cells. Can somebody tell me which one of these cells is better?

It behooves us to pay close attention to what’s going on out there, and educate ourselves and our families of the development of new strains of antibiotic resistant germs because infection can certainly be very serious, as well as fatal. What once was confined to hospitals and/or medical facilities, have now found its way into communities, i.e., schools, nurseries, athletic facilities, prisons, etc. Undoubtedly, the medical community has it's hands full, if not tied, with the onslaught of antibiotic resistant germs that seem to rival the development of new antibiotics. http://www.uniqueopportunityfinders.com

Hi Everyone. I know that lactose intolerant people can get around their intolerance by putting lactase drops into their milk. Can people who are allergic to casin do something similar to enable them to drink milk? Thank you very much. Kind regards Tim

I guess I'm one of those people. These days I notice that my sense of smell wasn't as strong as it was in the past. I could not no longer detect heavy odor and it came to my surprise that on one particular day, I couldn't even detect the cooking gas leakage until my sister highlighted to me. I guess not only is this bad but it might be dangerous in the long run. At the moment, I'm not going to seek medical advice as my worst fear is having to undergo operation. If anybody has any clue or advice, I would appreciate it. So far, my search in the internet did not really offer any lead. What I need maybe is herbal treatment or cure. thanks in advance guys.

There was that report I think earlier this year about a team of Scottish researchers who'd, IIRC, reprogrammed t-cells to attack only cancer cells and cured cancer in mice. Have there been any new developments on that?

Hello everyone's, I come here anticipating an argument I will inevitably have with my very religious in-laws once my fiancé and I decide to have a child. I can foresee us arguing about whether or not my future child ought to be circumsized. Are there any real health benefits for having this surgery done? Besides the small hygiene benefits? Or isn't it a purely religious practice that somehow caught on to be the norm? I see it as unnecessary and cruel.

Ok, I'm not sure but I think i am developing appendicitis. The only symptom I have come across is the pain starting in the navel and going to the lower right abdomen. Should I go to the doctors or wait to see if it goes away (meaning it isn't the early stages if appendicitis)

At many universities and on various hospital ethical committees, you will find that the resident 'medical ethicists,' who have to have an extremely sophisticated understanding of the legal, philosophical, psychological, and social issues involved in the ethical problems arising in medicine, have training only in medicine. While they may have the technical expertise from their training to know what can be done and what can't be done with the available medical technology, it is typically the case that years of purely technical training -- memorizing biochemic pathways rather than thinking creatively, devoting all their energies to competing fanatically to get into medical …

I'm not asking if they are safe, I'm asking if you would consider them safer than the tobacco combustion variant. A few examples... http://www.blucigs.com/ http://www.myluci.com/ http://greensmoke.com/ And an FDA report on two samples... http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Drugs/ScienceResearch/UCM173250.pdf

Prior to the establishment of the precursor organizations of the FDA at the beginning of the 20th century, Americans could buy any substance they wanted to treat their diseases as they chose. After the FDA came into full control of medicine, people could only access drugs and treatment modalities to ameliorate or cure disease if the FDA had already tested them first to determine whether they were 'safe and effective.' Today the process to establish safety and efficacy has become so painstaking that it usually requires 15 years of testing and about $300,000,000 of investment to bring a new drug to market. But do these standards of safety and efficacy, which prohibit …
