  1. If you mean the rules about doing anything at all and whatever it takes to “win,” then no. What will change is Putin using his recently rigged election like a trophy while simultaneously aligning with powers which are rapidly becoming hegemonies (I’m also unconvinced these recent terrorist events within country weren’t just Reichstag fire type events designed to further consolidate power and make more fierce and forceful crackdowns on dissenters more palatable. And the US election is sure to swing the pendulum of the world one way or the other in a short few months. Yes. You were much more concise, and IMO correct.
  2. Wait, why? What happened 5 minutes ago?!? If it makes you feel better, I (and I trust an appreciable number of SFNers) caught the reference
  3. Alfred - Would it be okay if I suggested that perhaps for you anxiety is a bigger challenge than any of the marginal side effects vaccines and antibiotics may sometimes bring ever will be?
  4. Your last several responses have been excellent and I agree with most of this last one too, but might pushback slightly on this final bit I’ve quoted since we see so much involvement from the spine and nervous system more broadly, plus the gut biome, for example. While Luc is a bit too extreme on the panpsychism front IMO, I do think limiting ourselves to just the brain when exploring this topic is also a bit too conservative and restrictive to provide us all with a full and accurate picture. Either way, thanks for the contributions and clarity they’ve added. It’s been much needed and appreciated. ✌️
  5. IF this is true, then two things come to mind: 1) It will dilute the dyes in the fabric and thus cause the colors to fade / become more muddy / less bright and not as saturated and clear. 2) Hydrogen is corrosive (at least it is with metals) and water molecules have two hydrogens so it might weaken and fray the fabric if submerged for extended periods of time. I defer to our respected chemist members though
  6. Sufficiently advanced technology indistinguishable from magic
  7. Consider scheduling pre planned rest days where you purposely don’t walk, you seek out some civilization, find an inn, take a sudsy shower, have some hot food and cold beer, put your feet up and restore yourself… especially before difficult legs of the journey. You’ll find you make fast friends in these circumstances and sometimes they’re the most memorable parts
  8. And this core challenge is being amplified by deepfakes which can now be created from a single 2D image and a recording of 3-5 words alone by any of us
  9. Please don’t apologize. No offense was taken. Thanks for lending a few tokens of your consciousness to this particular context window, even though it seems we’ve now moved beyond your parameter space. Happy St.Pats if you’re one who celebrates or maybe enjoys a good soda bread ✌️
  10. You are, of course, correct. We’re in violent agreement. You seem to be saying there is a relevant difference between one’s consciousness and the functioning of that consciousness. Do I read you correctly, and if so, I’d be curious to learn more about that distinction you seem to demarcate.
  11. One might even say the amount or direction of that functioning changes
  12. Alternatively, the fun has been back ended and more time is spent enjoying the outcome you desired instead of grinding along the path needed to get there. I’m all for DIY, but sometimes you just want someone else to do it. More time with satisfying ice cream, less time maseraring raw broccolis and tree bark.
  13. Edit: It’s even easier. Keep your plain 1960s receptacle and just plug this into it: https://www.amazon.com/Govee-Assistant-Controller-Required-Certified/dp/B08X448XHR/
  14. Buy a smart plug / wall receptacle. Connect it to Alexa similar home automation app. Setup schedule (the bulb and Alexa both do this simply, perhaps as a routine). Then just plug your lights into that junction with the new smart plug
  15. Depends upon how one defines it. States of consciousness certainly change, when inebriated or otherwise intoxicated, sick, fatigued, dehydrated, low blood sugar, under duress, suffering a head injury, etc.
  16. Ok, but it still happens one bite at a time
  17. If artificial consciousness becomes even more indistinguishable from wet meat computer (biological) consciousness than it already is, does it really matter?
  18. Even the largest of elephants can be eaten one bite at a time
  19. Those that didn’t were selected against
  20. Who said anything about voters being reasonable?
  21. I’m certain they’re actively looking for ways to change that, most likely under the guise of election integrity
