Okay, So I am undergoing the degree of Master of Acupuncture from Southern California University of Health Sciences, and the guidance I am getting from experts here is very satisfying and up to the mark. In addition to this, I am also looking forward to get the opinion and suggestions of some certified Acupuncture experts. I have had a few severely traumatic experience in my life where I was in the worst miserable (hopeless) state of my life, but I have fully recovered from such experiences and I was wondering how the brain recovers from these experiences and that if these recovery mechanisms were somehow absent, would the brain somehow recover on its own anyway? Let's pretend that these recovery mechanisms were completely absent, then would it be no different than a situation where you are constantly running on a treadmill and you eventually reach a point of exhaustion? If you kept running on that treadmill, then you would eventually reach a point where you would completely die. I ap…

How signals are traveling to the brain from sensory organs. For example when light hits the eyes the excitation of the cones etc , if i'm not mistaken, starts the process of signal transmission through fibers that reach the brain. Do the signals travel by spatially continues chain chemical reactions, or molecules and/or ions travel ? Is it known ?

Hello all! I'm fairly new; please excuse any mistakes on my behalf! We did a Respiration Lab in AP Bio today. We are now supposed to do some calculations, but our teacher didn't exactly mention what to do. He said that it's going to be an own kind of unit. My data says that my maximum amount of O2 amount consumed is: 0,36 and the minimum is 0,14. What I did: 0,36-0,14/ 8minutes = 0,025 ? What is the 0,025? grams? ounces? Moreover I need to divide the 0,025 by something else too? My calculation isn't complete by getting 0,025? I still have to do something. The weight of the seeds was 3g. Do I divide 0,025 by 3 or what do I do? Please help me out!!! Hello…

Ok. First things first. I am not a biologyst or scientist or whatever, so dont laugh at my question if it is really dumb. So. My question is. What if our languge is not suitable for our brain to work at full power. What if we could invent other form of "thinking and speaking" so we use the most of our brain? Also, I am not form English speaking countries, so i dont know how to express myself.

Does anyone know how a straight male does not have any arousal at a strip club, while viewing a pornographic video does?

Perhaps you watch too much porn. Watching porn decreases your sensitivity to a social sex life, making the videos more appealing then actually developing a relationship with someone, even if it's just a one night stand. My recommendation would be to stop using porn for 3 months, then see if it turns you on again to go back to the strip club. Also, this only applies if this continually happens. If it was a one time thing, most probably your sex drive wasn't at full power, or your hormones were particularly low at the time. This is common, and nothing to worry about. On top of that, I must say I don't recommend going to strip clubs nor watching porn. As you said, y…

Hello everyone, So, there are two different theories (Somatic Mutation Theory and Tissue Organization Field Theory) that supports the explanation of cancer. I would like to find out how these theories relate to each hallmark of cancer (mainly sustained chronic proliferation, evading growth suppressors, resisting cell death, enabling replicative immortality, activating invasion and metastasis, inducing angiogenesis, avoiding immune destructions, deregulating cellular energetics). For example, would evading growth suppressors be supported by SMT or TOFT? On one hand, there could be mutations which results in the change of expression of tumour suppressors which cause…

this topic is meant to discuss, scientifically, different approaches and viabilities to immortality. Immortality, refers to the state of continued physical health. It is not invincibility, which means that someone cannot die. An immortal person could die by being hit by a train, for instance. 1. I am trying to find whether or not increasing Stem Cell reproduction will grant immortality. (If the reproduction rate exceeds their death rate.) 2. Some theorists say High Oxygen environments will double lifespans. 3. I am trying to find out if there is a way to surpass the Hayflick limit. 4. Fourthly, my hypothesis is that telomerase does not actually promote cancer, bec…

What is the difference of low level consciousness vs high level consciousness? I hear the terms like low level consciousness and terms like high level consciousness what is it and what is the difference? I can only guess they mean low level consciousness like say a baby vs high level consciousness like teen or an adult. Or low level consciousness like a Dog and high level consciousness like a person. Can consciousness change? Can some one explain the two.

In what order do the prostate gland, seminal vesicles, and bulbourethral glands add fluids to the semen? The answer seems obvious, but all over the internet responses claim seminal vesicles are the last to add fluids to the semen. The information that is available states, albeit indirectly, the sequential order is the prostate gland, the seminal vesicles, and lastly the bulbourethral glands. In addition, the picture of the reproductive system verifies the above-stated order of secretion. Can you confirm?

Cultivation of melanocytes is painful for vitiligo patients, for that I have a suggestion. but in the beginning I hope that you read the following about "angler fish": "When a male finds a female, he bites into her skin, and releases an enzyme that digests the skin of his mouth and her body, fusing the pair down to the blood-vessel level. The male becomes dependent on the female host for survival by receiving nutrients via their shared circulatory system "(the source: wikipedia) Now my idea is: 1- we confuse the "melanocytes" with "anglerfish enzyme". 2- and then we put the mixture on the skin that suffers from vitiligo. consequently we do not need a sk…

It seems like most or all animals have a very firm structure of their body followed by a very soft structure of their body, whether it's a bug or a mammal or a snail...but why? What would happen if an animal was moderately soft/hard throughout it's entire body? It seems like having such a body works for an octopus.

It seams pretty reasonable to presume that it's possible for an organism to move to or coincidentally find a geographical location where its survival is more optimal after mutating from a different species. Like for instance, if an mammalian animal in an often hot environment evolved a thick coat of fur that could regularly cause its internal temperature to increase out of its range of functionality, wouldn't it make sense for it to simply seek out a cooler environment like a cave or underground or gradually wander north towards the tundra with each generation and form a new species? But, I've never heard of that in evolution before and I want to know why.
