What's going on in the world and how it relates to science.

I figured since we had a Donald Trump topic, we should have a Hillary Clinton topic. I thought today would be a good start day with the release of the FBI investigation file. Hillary could find even one of those 13 mobile devices? Not one? http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/article/2600901 Hillary deleted 17500 emails. Wow, 17500. http://www.dailywire.com/news/8779/fbi-hillary-deleted-30-emails-about-benghazi-ben-shapiro At least 30 of those emails were about benghazi. Doesn't sound personal to me. I wonder what else she deleted. Maybe the NSA knows. http://circa.com/politics/accountability/fbis-hillary-clinton-email-probe-found-evidence-…

  2. ! Moderator Note I have started this thread as it was a major branch from a thread on irrational ideologies of the liberal left from here http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/98459-irrational-ideologies-of-the-left/ Apologies the software doesn't allow for a nice looking start to the new thread to be made because we cannot create duplicate posts imatfaal Citation needed. Or is this is some sort of straw man argument? It sounds as if you don't know much about Islam beyond some newspaper caricatures. There are, of course, Muslims who hold such views. But then there are Jews, Christians or atheists who hold similar reprehensible views. Bu…

One of Trump's primary platforms is to abolish NAFTA. Renegotiate the deal. Is reneging without it's penalties? Is putting "America first" a good faith bargaining position? Is being cutting off from oil, hydro power, wood and water negotiating from a position of strength? Why should sovereign countries like Canada or Mexico be obligated to negotiate, no less litigate or agree to anything? Trump wants to put a 35% tax on all goods imported from Mexico and Canada. Why wouldn't Canada and Mexico will reinstate pre-NAFTA counter-veil duties in response?

A picture says a thousand words. Stock market currently up 160 points. Enjoying my schadenfreude. Hillary to tired to give a concession speech last night. I wonder if they had to wake her up to tell her she lost? All Obama's executive order gone with one signature. Obamacare soon dead. Paris Climate Accord meaningless and fossil fuel energy development to begin in earnest. Immigration laws to be enforced. Borders to be strengthened. Supreme Court justices to be nominated by conservatives. What a happy day!

Why do we vote when the chances of our vote becoming the deciding factor of an election is 1 in 60 million? We are more likely to die in a car crash than our voice "being heard". Opinions please, enlighten me.

Indians have considered equality of all sexes and have given civil liberty and civil rights to all seixes. Shabnam Mausi, a hermaphrodite was elected member of the Legislative Assembly in an Indian State. Americans have a problem with this progressive move. They keep on thrusting their Constitution on Indians. These Americans with the help of advanced AI have tried tried to divide India on the basis of religion. I have found out that one of the Americans, who is a hermaphrodite even has a moustache. Now, it seems like Our Hermaphrodites Versus Your Hermaphrodites kind of tussle.

I have been lead to believe that oil companies decide the freedom of individuals all over the world. The rape of Indian Sovereignity stands out as a battle between largest democracy in the world(India) and Capitalism. The oil companies have made India the 51st State of America with no freedom for the people of India. I can say for sure : "Capitalism is ugly". The other day I was listening to Ayn Rand lecture. Ayn Rand was wrong about Capitalism. I would, say Capitalism is not even an ideology. It is shameless God forsaken attempt to display power of wealth or should I say money. The AI has tried to thrust American Constitution on India. These people are cretins. They nee…

Recently FBI Director Comey announced they found Clinton email's on Weiner's laptop, that were between Hillary and her aid, Weiner's x wife, Huma. He said something like they haven't found anything bad yet, but they are going to continue their investigation into Hillary's emails. I also heard that the FBI had known this for weeks. Do you think that Comey's team did a quick survey of the emails over the past few weeks, and either found something significant, or found nothing, and Comey decided that he would be damned either way, so he decided the lesser of evils would be to announce 11 days before the election, they were investigating the new emails and haven't found an…

Well as you all know overpopulation is harming our planet, causing global warming, habitat loss, consumption of resources, etc. Is there a way to remedy this? Will limiting the number of babies a couple can have in all countries be a solution?

This man has successfully predicted every president since 1984.... When he first started.... He uses a system of 13 true or false statements to predict the presidential winner, and it hasn't been wrong yet. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/10/28/professor-whos-predicted-30-years-of-presidential-elections-correctly-is-doubling-down-on-a-trump-win/ Good God I hope he's wrong.

The British did well to leave Americans to themselves as they were growing unruly. I have certainly read about American War Of Independence or the american revolution as it is popularly called. It is necessary to realistically evaluate the freedoms supposed to be enshrined in its constitution. The Americans have identified themselves with the Southern States and its ideology of racial discrimination. Even seemingly moderate Republicans like Abraham Lincoln did not espouse emancipation of slaves . It made economic sense to free the slaves. The Whites were responsible for the well being of slave communities. After the Civil War whose results cannot be ascertained, the Black…

  13. When they are done will they turn their attention to all of Trump's deleted e-mails and burnt paperwork from his failed business? I was reading in the paper today that he has destroyed data and communications on numerous occasions after a law suit has declared he reveal missives. How do people take this level of hypocrisy seriously? The reason I brought this up in the other thread was because the last poster seemed pretty smug that there 'might' or might not still be evidence of wrongdoing in the case of the e-mails non issue and suggested between the lines that she would get her comeuppance. All this just ignoring the already proven fraud and destroying of evidence r…

I will back it up. I am going to broaden it though since this is a new thread and this will just be a collection of things that have been done by the Obama Administration that have led me to dislike his presidency. A lot of these things are what I see as overreach or distasteful rather than purely being "rule by executive fiat". I will add some commentary, but otherwise I will leave it to people to judge for themselves. Also, I will pre-empt this by saying that I am currently ideologically inclined to be critical of the Obama Administration, so everything is going through that filter. Obama's move on deferring enforcement of immigration is unconstitutional: S…

The American Election is moving along expected lines. The FBI, too has joined the fray and wants to have its say. Investigating the dealings of any Presidential Candidate can be understood under only extenuating circumstances. Malintent should be avoided. What do you World citizens, especially Americans have to say?

  18. I don't think that's how it works. Minimum-wage labor costs are not 100% of the cost of any product. Take someone flipping burgers or making subs getting an extra dollar or two per hour. They make dozens of that product in that time, so the cost is spread out. If you're serving 50 customers per hour in your fast-food restaurant and they're each spending an average of $20, that's $1000 in gross income. If your 7 person crew each gets an extra $2 for that hour, the owner is out an extra $14. Passing that on to the customer is 28 cents added to the bill. Meanwhile, the employees are making and extra $4000 a year (e.g. a whopping $20k instead of $16k) and maybe don't have…

Anyone watch last night's debate? What did you think? Here is one I noticed. Trump said in regard to criminal illegal aliens, "We have some bad HAMBRES here". Anyone who speaks Spanish must have noticed this gaff. He intended to say we have some bad HOMBRES. His accent was just wrong. In Spanish "hambre" means hungry. "We have some bad hungrys here". Yes Donald you are obese, a bad hungry. How many examples of projection? "In the final moments of the final presidential debate, Donald Trump said Hillary Clinton was "such a nasty woman" while she was answering a question about how she would raise taxes on the rich to tackle debt and entitlements if she w…

From the second debate: ANDERSON COOPER: You describe kissing women without consent, grabbing their genitals. That is sexual assault. You bragged that you have sexually assaulted women. Do you understand that? DONALD TRUMP: No, I didn't say that at all. I don't think you understood what was said. This was locker-room talk. I'm not proud of it. I apologize to my family. I apologize to the American people. Certainly I'm not proud of it, but this is locker-room talk. You know, when we have a world where you have ISIS chopping off heads, where you have...(Trump goes on for a minute about ISIS) COOPER: Just for the record, though, are you saying that what you said …

  21. Where does it end? One group always hates the other, they can't get along. Either whites hate blacks or blacks hate white. Muslims hate christians or Christians hate muslims. There's a never ending loop, and in my personal opinion groups like BLM isn't helping. What's your opinion?

  22. So there's a story out the Hillary laughed at a 12 year old rape victim.(Trump brought up the issue) She also tried to push that Shelton, the rape victim, get a "psychiatric exam" There's an audio recording but nobody can tell EXACTLY what Hillary was laughing at. So then politifact took that and decided that it was a lie, because, nobody can tell for CERTAIN. They're evidence was Hillary Clinton saying she didn't, and that's all they needed. Other sources have claimed that she got the accused racist off. Then others defend that she didn't. https://thinkprogress.org/the-truth-about-kathy-shelton-the-12-year-old-rape-victim-trump-used-to-attack-hillary-clinton-72158e3c41c…

A Louisiana police chief was recently fired because of his social media criticism of the President's handling of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. According to this Washington Post article, Jonesville's police chief Skylar Dore criticized Pres. Obama in a Facebook rant for not labeling BLM protestors as terrorist after three fellow Baton Rouge officers he called "brothers" were killed by a lone gunman. Dore, who is white, was fired by Jonesville's "majority-black" town council who preside over a population that is 70% black. His firing didn't come without outrage and protest by other town residents. So, was chief Dore's criticism fair or bigoted? Was his firing …

Can I just put it out there that I think that anyone who votes for a man who boasts about sexually assaulting women is deplorable. I can see why Clinton withdrew from the remark - it was not clever politicking - but most of us are not running for office and can be a bit more forthright in our views. Voting, let alone endorsing or campaigning for, a man who revels in his use of power to debase women and proudly objectifies one half of the human race is shameful, disgusting, and well and truly deplorable

  25. Wikileaks released an email cache yesterday. This email gets rid of some of the mystery about why Clinton never released her speech transcripts. It contains several excerpts that the campaign deemed more damaging than releasing the transcripts. Do you think that it was smarter for them to keep them than to release them, or would it have worked better for them to have released them in the first place?
