Hi. Bring some smiles by sharing friends' nicknames you remember from school years. Or workplace if preferred. Funny, cruel, near offensive, ugly, nasty, from all of them around you along the years... Will let you start this time.

I watched a video last night, about an hour and a half long that asserted that the USA and other world powers had done some speculative war games based on an alien invasion. The video was well produced and had some good graphics but the reasons for an alien invasion were weak to say the least. I gave it some thought and I couldn't really come up with a reason good enough to travel light years for a planet, the video finally came up with an invading robots scenario wanting to harvest earths forests for reaction mass for propulsion. Considering how unlikely a planet enough like Earth exists, for us to travel there to do war with the inhabitants seems like a loosin…

  5. Have you had an experience or an event during your life, that you cannot explain rationally? I have had a few very odd moments over the span of my somewhat protracted life, but will not write about them, unless other members show interest in the topic.

On the way home from picking up my boys for the weekend, we witnessed this wreck happen literally right in front of us. We were stopping at the intersection and was the first car at the stop light when this van came speeding through the red light at the same time as the red Dodge. Both vehicles were traveling at the posted speed limit for each road, which is 55 mph on HWY 77 / Flood and I assume 40 mph on Tecumseh. The lady in the van was going South on HWY 77 / Flood and ran the red light at 77 / Flood and Tecumseh in Norman, OK right in front of the On Cue gas station. The van exploded (not in the fiery sense) sending shards of glass and metal everywhere. I was first on…

In art class, I have to make a mask for our final project. I don't know as of yet what I should make. I should note that is has to be complicated, have eyes, nose, and a mouth(i.e. it can't be a Jason mask) Any thoughts would be appreciated. Joshua

I can't find anywhere to hide from sour ludicrosity. I have a pretty rotten attitude around here because a focused and small constituency of this community is top-notch while the rest is just as trashed as everywhere else -- this is not reasonable behavior, but it is the simple truth behind my behavior. Isn't there a better place to hide?

This is a wonderful place we have here on these forums. I'd like to take a moment to thank a few people who I feel have contributed to my comfort and satisfaction with life. These are all amazing people who I am indescribably grateful for having the opportunity to experience. Michio Kaku Your intelligence is astonishing and the passion you have for science is invigorating. I enjoy seeing you on the science channel and can't help but wonder if you spend time on the forums as well. I'd be interested to hear what you think about cognition, it's a very hot topic and I think that physiopsychoneuromechanics needs an opinion from a guy like you. Noam Chomsky We preach …

I just think I.Q. is so snobbish, bigoted and subjective!!! It doesn't show the love and passion a person feels for his subject, it just gives a cold, distorted, false, superficial and subjective number to view someone's intelligence as an abstraction. It is so cold and superficial!!! it may be useful to indicate someone with a very low I.Q., to be able to see the areas they need help in, and the level of their mental handicap!!! Richard P. Feynman's ( 1914 - 1988 ) high school I.Q. was a barely respectable 125, which although being good is for argubley the lad who was going to become the greatest theoretical physicist scince Einstien ( 1879 - 1955 ) not g…

Reviews of the most important events of 2013 in the News I follow talk a lot about people (the Pope, the new King a.s.o.) while some other news look like they have disappeared. The intention of this thread is to make a revival of forgotten news. Like the Chelyabinsk meteorite on 15th February 2013.

HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2013 Scenario 1: Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack. 1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack. 2013 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers. National television news make a feast out of it. Scenario 2: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school. 1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies. 2013 - Police called and SWAT team arriv…

  19. Hello peoples, I am getting back into programming(For Arduino) , and I need a new computer. The one that I am using can barely run the Eclipse SDK. It is fine when I use the Ardunio SDK, or Processing, but when I am programming the Arduino board, I am going to be using C++, not the modified Java that Arduino uses, although I am going to learn it. Right now, I am learning processing, a dumbed down version of Java, then I am going to learn real Java. I need Java so I can make an Android app to control the “robot”. And yes, I am getting a Nexus 7(or if parents are happy, a Nexus 10), and that is an Android tablet for my birthday, if I do a schedule. Therefor, they aren’t…

How come it seldom happens -if ever-, from people that had knowledge of extraordinary secret events, in all branches of politics, science, pacts, crime, wars... is never revealed on post-mortem letters, for the world to know ? There has to be thousands of jaw-dropping secrets carried to tombs that would make revolutionary, helpful, enlightening (and damaging too) historical knowledge; but the subjects involved never revealed during life. Seems that those personalities keep secrecy by some reason, even if not negatively implicated. Would you tell on a letter (with documented proof of evidence) something so important that the public deserves to know after you are gone ? …

I don't truly grasp this paper called CTMU ( The Cognitive Theoretical Model of the Universe ) by Chris Langdon ( The person described as 'The Smartest Man in America!!! ). It envolves I think some of Einstien's Special Theory of Relativity. How our own grasp of reality is different in space-time to other peoples, or something like that. Langdon boasted his theory is up there with Newton's and Einstien's work in terms of greatness!!! His I.Q. is believed to be between 185 and 210!!! I personally think the work of Steven Wisenberg ( b.1933 ) and Ed Witten is perhaps more profound and inspirational!!! But Langdon certainly is very, very clever!!! Byr…
