  2. The night my heart stopped and I flat-lined Hello everyone please read this updated, edited version, which better describes what happened to me night my heart stopped beating in 2011 On the night of 18th, August 2011 at approximately 9.30 pm, my heart stopped beating numerous times, both at home and later at Sunninghill Hospital. On resuscitation table due to third stage or total, AV heart block. I went through the whole drama of my heart stopping, flat- lining over and over again, adrenaline, atropine were injected directly into my heart and the shock paddles and chest depressions used over and over again in a desperate effort to get my heart to beat again on it…

  3. My mom has some crazy beliefs. I just don't understand how a person well educated in science and engineering would believe these things. my dad is also an engineer and he has very scientific beliefs, grounded in reality. my mom thinks that cheating is ok people are not supposed to be monogamous, she beliefs in magic and is friends with people who she calls wizards. She thinks they are real magicians. I'm serious.she believe in karma, which not that bad, I do not believe in karma but its better then magicians. There are some things she does that worry me about her beliefs, like she dose not go to doctors because she thinks they are all bad, she had a tooth fall out because…

  4. https://www.quora.com/ Article below for you comments (Edited by me expletive removed) Guys please stop posting that you have a 160+ IQ. Its really embarrassing for you. The chances of that being true are extremely unlikely. To be frank, I've noticed that only moderately gifted folks, with fairly mediocre achievement, seem to be interested in IQ. Also who cares? "I've got a 140 IQ"?. (Confirmed by a two day battery of tests by a neuropsychologist) and that didn't keep me from being scum bag and screw up for my entire 20s. I'm more interested in being a good person, than in how supposedly "gifted" I am. You should be too. If you're truly interested in measu…

Is it healthy to wear hair gel all the time? Is it good or bad for the hair? Does it have any harmful affects if applied everyday? How many times should one use hair gel on their hair per week, month etc.? Do you use hair gel? Why/why not?

  7. why is plastic surgery frowned upon in america? I dont get it, I see nothing wrong with getting plastic surgery. if I wanted to get it and I'm happier from it shouldn't people be happy for me? I see the risks in the actual surgery, the risk of death is 1 in 250,000 from cosmetic procedures and the risk of complications is also pretty low. https://www.sharecare.com/health/cosmetic-surgery/what-risk-death-cosmetic-surgery but even with that usually people know you got the surgery after it so therefore you didn't die. Do you find plastic surgery to be wrong? and if yes then why?

  8. I just wanted to know your thoughts on the story about the gorilla that got shot because a four year old boy climbed in the cage with it and the zoo did not want the boy to get injured. who do you think should be responsible? I agree with their decision about shooting the gorilla, a tranquilizer would take too long to kick in and something might happen to the boy by then. I think its both the parents and the zoos fault, they would not have cages that people can get in. but I think its more the zoos then the parents, it just surprises me that the zoo has such cages that you can climb in for such wild animals. zoos should be prepared for kids trying to get close to the anim…

If I would have $100k... I would buy 50 lathe devices. I have seen Metal Lathe for $1200 with VAT in our local Leroy Merlin shop this week (not the cheapest one available. The cheapest one was for $620). Wholesale and export to 3rd world country (Africa,South America,Asia) would be cheaper. Pay local homeless persons to build hall (after learning them how to work with concrete, bricks, if needed). The rest of money spend on bricks, concrete, and buying land for hall. And learn them how to use lathe devices, sheet bending, pipe bending, furnace, drill. etc. They would bring beer Aluminium cans or other metal to hall, from the whole city, melt them in induction furnace, creat…

Hawking gave two possible outcomes, redistribution or wealth chasm. This struggle is not new, and proceeds in different places around the world in different ways and different rates and different directions. The US is a country where people strive for great wealth, and globalization has spread that doctrine, and there are weaker forces within that oppose it. Is there a country today, or at any time in the past, that has actually tried to spread the wealth. And, how will this movement progress throughout this century.

Well, it was all but an ordinary day for me at the office. I'm the Sr. Software Engineer at Factor, and we are located on the 15th floor of one of the towers on the N.W. side of Oklahoma City. Just a few hours before it was time to leave, everyone started gathering near windows on the East side of the office because a semi-truck with some kind of heavy machinery loaded on its trailer tried to drive under a bridge that wasn't tall enough. So, I took the opportunity to take a few pics that actually made it on the news. As you can see, it collapsed the N.E. side of the bridge. Unfortunately, I'll have to take a different route to Guitar Center and Best Buy whe…

  14. I've never watched the Marvel movies and am now curious about watching them. What I'm wondering about is, I've heard that maybe some of the collective movies like Avengers bring together threads from the previous movies. Is that right? Should I watch the movies in sequence because of that and what IS the sequence I should watch them in?

  15. Hi, If some stranger sneezes you in public (e.g. in a café), what is the appropriate response to this? Assume also that the person was angry at something that happened to him/her earlier that day and wanted to take out their anger out on someone when the opportunity came (but of course they pretend as if it was all unintentional). If this happened to you how would you react to the person who sneezed on you and what would you say to any bystanders/onlookers? How would your response differ depending on whether the offender was male or female? Thanks, Mr Rayon

  16. Here at SFN I've found a common problem: People like to make things that needn't be complex, complex to make themselves look more knowledgeable on a topic. There are places where complexity is necessary, such as is the case with many explanations with large amounts of complex mathematical equations and explanations for those equations, but there are also places where complexity simply isn't necessary. One piece of advice on posting scientific threads on SFN is: Don't make things more complex than they need to be, Remember that the simplest explanations are not only the ones that will carry the most weight with your opponent in debate, but will be the easiest for all to un…

Being a European I don't know squat about American football, but I noticed there are players that these teams have on their rosters who are called punters. Judging by wikipedia, it seems that all these guys do is punt the ball. Is that right? These guys don't participate in the game in any other way? Only kicking the ball at the start of the game and any time the team wants to punt?

Has anybody used Zyban (Buproprion) or Champix (Verenicline)? They probably have different names in other countries. I'd be interested in your experiences if you have. Edit: Zyban is Wellbutrin in the US. Champix is also called Chantix.

IQ Classifications in Educational Use. http://www.assessmentpsychology.com/iqclassifications.htm Very Superior above 130 Superior 120 to 129 High Average 110 to 119 Average 90 to 109 Low Average 80 to 89 Borderline 70 to 79 Extremely Low 69 Well it is obvious it will require skilled person doing the test to see what the person IQ is and a skilled person could pick up the difference. How many points does it have to be before it becomes obvious to non skilled person the general public to pick it up? Some one 72 with some one say 96 would NOT tell the difference? But some one 72 with some one 110 would tell the difference? And some one 72 with some…

  24. Greetings. I have a question for all you mortals. I have been pondering if others are really afraid of death/dying, or if they are more like me, afraid of an accident or situation where you know the chances of instant death are not 100%, and you're more afraid of being seriously injured and surviving, that or having an accident where it leaves you in an immense amount of pain and the suffering you would go through before finally dying... Or even the thought of being permanently (mostly) disabled. If I am on a plane and we are way up high in a 747 traveling from one country to another for instance, if the wings were to suddenly snap off, that wouldn't really sc…

Suppose you could buy nano-wallpaper with embedded computers, display, speaker, microphone and internet connection that gives you the ability to decorate your walls however you wish. All you have to do is chat with an AI wallpaper app that tries to satisfy your wildest dream. Your AI handyman has just finished papering your walls; what would you have on them? My wallpaper will not always be the same, and decorations can change frequently. Most of the time it would show nature, a beautiful sky and conifer forest with a vista of distant mountains and critters living. At night the stars would shine. The handyman might 3D print a few accents to go with my most popular sce…
