where can i get some good math/science t-shirts. i looked at thinkgeek.com, but they don't have too many options. at school, i saw a girl wearing a shirt that had a kid spray painting a sine curve on a brick wall and the caption said "gang sines." i am looking for shirts like that or Swanson's cartoons. or perhaps something simple, yet geeky like 2b\/~2b. i saw one on the net(warning, kinda inappropriate) that said [imath]\int{e^x}=f(u)^n[/imath]. i am looking for witty, math/science shirts. please help.

Hey people!! Whats up! I thought that a forum based on science should have room for imagination. After all, theories initially seem impossible till practical appiclitation proves otherwise. When Issac Asimov wrote Foundation, his books rocked the world as they went into the unknown streaches of the universe and that too based on solid scientific theories...after all he was a scientist himself. So i thought it would be a nice idea if we discussed our favorite Sci Fi books or stories... who knows we may even come up with an entirely new story. So come on guys get started and tell me about your favorite Sci Fi books. God Bless!!

  6. I just bought a portable air conditioner from Frys to my house. I bought it for a little more than 400 dollars. The temperature of its can be only turned from 16 to 30. I turned it to 16, which is the coldest, but it deosn't let me feel as cold as the one from my car when I put my hands on the opening vent of my car, the air come out of it was colder than the one at my house. Does this happen to the air conditioners of all of yours? Or it is because that my air conditioner is not that good?

What do you guys recon to the idea of opening up a classroom here at SFN, in order to actually teach science? We've definately got enough collective knowledge. I was thinking if we make a new forum called 'classroom' or whatever, and all chip in and wright a few tutorials on basic areas of science, make a few threads linking to descent web based tutorials/other threads on this site, wright a few basic exams and learning exersizes and agree a few basic stock sylabuses etc. if someone wanted to learn a science, they could sighn-up and get in contact with one of us and explain which area of science they would like to learn, and we could hack and taylore a stock sy…

Few scientists fabricate results from scratch or flatly plagiarize the work of others, but a surprising number engage in troubling degrees of fact-bending or deceit, according to the first large-scale survey of scientific misbehavior. More than 5 percent of scientists answering a confidential questionnaire admitted to having tossed out data because the information contradicted their previous research or said they had circumvented some human research protections. Ten percent admitted they had inappropriately included their names or those of others as authors on published research reports. And more than 15 percent admitted they had changed a study's design or re…

PlanetMath and Wikipedia are good if you are looking for information of a single specific subject. I am looking for a website that is like those, but different. I am looking for a website where you can type in a subject, and an index shows up. The index would be like an outline for a class in the subject. Click on a link and you get a lesson. Does anyone know of a website like this? Your help would be appreciated.

If you've got an idea for a good science debate, let's hear it. I'd like to do another almost-mythical "featured debate".

The fire hasn't been on official news yet, but I'm close to the site. Has been burning since Thursday night. Has been listed at 10,000 acres all day, but has grown today. 200 firefighters are on scene. BLM Las Vegas is in charge. It is definetly the largest fire in the U.S. at this time. Here is what I have collected: http://desertblog.blogspot.com/ I have heard, but not confirmed, work has been called off at Yucca Mountain. Anyone hear anything?

http://www.addictinggames.com/magnetism.html This is a very addicting game. So far, In Game A Type B, I have reached the level where there are lots of shock absorbers, balls, and shifting gravity. In Game B type B, I have reached the level where you get launched right next to a green magnet and there is no gravity. See how well you guys do.

Can't tell you how much I'd appreciate some input from anyone, everyone, esp. from women, on a situation that has me very depressed. You should know that I'm married, have young kids, and my marriage is fairly stable though my wife and I have grown distant emotionally. I won't point fingers, trying to keep this factual. Neither has had an affair (take it as fact please). I work for an East Coast company and a little over a year ago, our firm moved a guy and his family here from Vancouver BC. I instantly bonded with the guy and in six months we became best buddies. Tragically, unbelievably, almost a year ago, he and his young son, and another two people, were killed in…

While I like the new style, I have to say that the new images for Post Thread and whatnot are a bit too light and childish. I would prefer if they were a bit darker and more like the ones alt_f13 made previously, although I like the roundness. Perhaps like the default phpBB images, except bluish. Any other comments?
