It is claimed that sucrose is the main reason of dental caries and obesity. If it is so harmful, why it is still not prohibited and not replaced with less harmful substitutes, perhaps with fructose, glucose, sucralose and some others completely?

In "Almost human" sci-fi series movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2654580/ an agent drinks some substance provided by police to make his body work as a radio beamer and later a criminals forced him to drink another substance to jam the signal. I wonder if there exist some metals or another substances which are harmless to humans and which will dissolve in blood been ingested. And which will jam any radio signals.

Is it possible to fill human lungs with some liquid and viscouse substance which would allow only oxigen pass through it (easily), not any other atoms or molecules? I've read such experoments been conducted on mice who were capable to breath underwater with lungs filled with perfluorocarbone liquid. But what I'm looking for is to breath fresh air, not underwater.

According to a recent study "Infanrix hexa and sudden death: a review of the periodic safety update reports submitted to the European Medicines Agency" by Puliyel J. an Sathyamala C, GlaxoSmithKline has submitted vaccine safety reports with some deaths missing. The abstract of the study: There have been a number of spontaneous reports of sudden unexpected death soon after the administration of Infanrix hexa (combined diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, hepatitis B, inactivated poliomyelitis and Haemophilus influenza type B vaccine). The manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), submits confidential periodic safety update reports (PSURs) on Infanrix hexa to th…

I realise that this is a problem which an eye specialist should deal with, but communication with my Spanish GP and anyone he might refers me to is difficult and frustrating, and he dismisses my problem as unimportant. It is an on-going and increasingly annoying itching which re-occcurs at what seems like regular intervals of about once a month. It starts off with the sensation of having some dust in the eyes - (this is actually not a surprise because the climate here in Tenerife is extremely dry, rainfall is very low, humidity is very low, and there is a lot of dust around. In addition I keep myself busy with light building work, so sawdust is a problem, and we keep chic…

I could feel a random tingle in my nose building up to a sneeze. It was random due to no allergens or similar stimulants being around. Once the buildup was about to occur into a sneeze, the buildup quickly disappeared and nothing happened. Does anyone have any information which could be relevant to this?

https://medicalxpress.com/news/2015-05-ophthalmologist-ocumetics-bionic-lens-revolutionize.html Ophthalmologist claims ocumetics bionic lens to revolutionize vision correction. ...................... He told the audience that applying the lens would be a simple eight minute procedure—one where the lens is folded like a taco and placed inside a syringe, where it is then injected into the eye. He further claims that the bionic lens would give the recipient vision that is three times better than normal, regardless of how bad their vision was beforehand (a clock that looks fuzzy to a person beforehand from ten feet away, ................................. .…

I had a pre-op chest x-ray. The report says flattened diaphragm lungs hyper inflated COPD. I don't smoke. I have no s/s of COPD. The x-ray tech had me take a deep breath and hold while taking the picture. Won't that cause the things listed in the report?

I need help understanding this: How are the SA node and AV node connected, yet still can function independently? I know how the two nodes function in unison and how the signal is sent from the AV node--->SA node----> rest of the heart via purkinje fibers, bundle of his, and a network of myocardial muscle tissue. What I really want to understand here is if they can even function independently of each other if they are so interconnected. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance

This man has lead a very interesting life after the 80s. Any reason that this wasn't put to use? Any reason that this should or shouldn't be allowed? Who says that you are forced to see tvs and ads everywhere you go? https://www.google.com/patents/US6506148

I was driving today listening to music at a low sound level and felt/heard one of the hairs on the cochlea break. I do not listen to music at a loud level and have not had anything like this happen before. The snap was random as well. There were no loud noises happening at the time of occurence either. How does this occur?

How False pregnancy (pseudocyesis) happens in humans? They display the usual pregnancy symptoms like abdominal swelling, nausea, food cravings etc. Yet they may not actually be pregnant. A scan usually detects this condition as false pregnancy. My question is what will be their hCG levels? Will it be positive at any point of this episode? What will happen to the other (estrogen, progesterone etc) hormonal changes.

Say Im reading a paper on string theory and Im being told that superstrings live in a 10 dimensional world (9 spacial and 1 time) I cannot visualise the planckian size, curled up aditional 6 spacial dimensions, I just wonder trying to imagine this (unsuccesfuly ofcourse) and move on with the text. Say Im reading that LIGO detected gravity waves again...Im imediately imagining images of ripples in space. I literally see a short clip or images of space being distorted. I probably do that because I was taught that gravity is curvature of space time. Say Im being asked by my wife, what time are we going to visit my parrents tomorrow...I answer my wife that we should go see…

As the food enters stomach the digestion is continued in it. Then the partly suggested food (chyme) is moved to duodenum for further digestion. As different types of food may take different duration for digestion, how and when the chyme is pushed to duodenum? Do they move en masse in a single instance or they move as and when a portion of chyme is ready to be moved, ie now a little, later some more like that? I would like to know when the stomach will be empty of all chyme.

I apologize in advance if the following are stupid questions. 1. In the text, the following is written in a table regarding the innervation of the rhomboid minor, "Dorsal scapular nerve (C5, posterior)." What is "posterior" referring to? So far, my understanding has been that if you see something like, e.g., "Dorsal scapular nerve (C5)," written out to indicate the innervation of a muscle, "C5" is referring to the fact that the innervation by the dorsal scapular nerve to that muscle is derived from the fifth cervical segment of the spinal cord. In following this interpretation, is "posterior" serving to specify that the innervation is derived from the posterior portio…

Apologies if I am in the wrong place. I live up a mountain in Wales. My water supply comes from a spring in the rock above my house. In order to make some repairs I used some "Epoxy Repair Putty" as the packet claimed, "For underwater application ...." I subsequently read the cautionary note which said: Contains BISPHENIL A - (EPICHLOHYDRIN) (REACTION PRODUCT) The water passes through a big settling tank/cistern before entering the house and going through a 10 micron filter and a UV sterilizer. I am now worried that I am poisoning everybody. Should I analyze the water. If so, to whom should I speak? Thanks in anticipation Richard

What is the physiology and the cause of the pain in the lower back in women? Is it related to uterus and gynaecological issues? If so, my doubt is, why there should be a pain the back while the uterus is located more ventrally? How the pain is related to the menstruation and periods in between?
