1. Greetings. The flag bearer of computer idiots again. Get the DNS probe error in a Chromebook. Before was also in the Linux machine. Power cycling all several times allowed me to enter the internet to post this. There is nothing Windows in my home. There is nothing wireless in my home. Have three ethernet wired devices to the gateway (modem?): A Linux computer; a Chromebook computer, a tuner that receives internet television from the whole planet. Most of the time all works well, but something gets the 'period' and I cannot solve what cannot understand. Reading related articles on the web; they assume everyone uses Windows+Chrome+Wifi and do not apply …

Hi, I have been trying to find information on how to use a flash drive as RAM in windows XP. I've heard that it is possible but I haven't been able to find any info on how to do it after doing some google searches. Does anyone know if a) it's possible and b) whether there are instructions on the web about how to do it. I have a PNY Attache 256M drive. I know 256 isn't a lot but I only have 512 in my comp so I figure it should make some difference. Thanks

Hello there forum, I have recently been working on encryption software (I'm an amateur in everything, just starting my physics studies, but I'm doing my best). I've been building it on C++ (specially with Dev-C++), I'm using "the black screen" for everything, and I was wondering if any of you knew an useful script that allows the black screen to "paste" a string copied from somewhere else (like when you copy a text from somewhere and then simply 'paste' it on Word) and also another one to "copy" a desired string so it can be easily pasted somewhere else. -Thanks for your time, Blopa

  6. Hi Guys (and Gals), I've really got to learn Visual Basic, but haven't had the opportunity yet. I'm struggling through something which is probably painfully simple, but I've not come very far using my google-fu. Here's the deal. I've got a Form in Access that we are using to fill out information about our training programs. The data we enter should go to an Output_Table, so I create a Form with Wizard that grabs all of the Fields from the Output_Table. Inside the Form, we have a field called Course_Code. The selection here should be pushed to the Output_Table. I have made this a combo box which pulls data from another table called Courses_Table. …

Hello team, You guys helped me out lots before with share point stuff so I will have one last question. I have my share point site open on my monitor which is connected to my laptop. When I move my page to the monitor, the zoom goes to 150% and it's zoomed in. (image is not displaying as it should. When I move it back to my monitor it goes to 62%(not even the original 100%). I tried with the code below but it did not solve the issue. I am sure that my SharePoint site is at fault as I tried with other SharePoint sites (not made by me) in the same conditions and they would resize the text/image to perfectly fit the screen. Please let me know if you …

I am having some trouble with another computer here. It is exactly like the one I am on now, same software and such..but of course, it is not this computer. Windows XP Home Edition SP2 Since sometime around noon yesterday, whenever the computer is turned on/restarted, just before it gets to the logon screen, a blue screen comes up with the following error: STOP: c000021a (Fatal System Error) The Windows Logon Process System process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x0000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down. I have searched for quite some time now and found no information on this error on Windows XP. Somewhat interesting is …

Well, lately I've been thinking about making the switch from Windows XP to Ubuntu, not that I've really been having issues with XP, but just because I like Ubuntu a little better. As a few of you (Cap'n Refsmmat, insane_alien) may know, I tried to boot it up on my sister's old laptop, and in the process of making a partition, the laptop shut off, and I still cannot turn it on. On the computer I'm using now, a more powerful desktop, I tried using the Live CD to run it, and it seemed to work fine...with the exception of it not having internet... Also, I've heard from some people that Linux doesn't support as many programs as XP does, is this all that true? One of my frie…

Hello. This is my first post. My english might be a little bit rusty, but i'll do my best to express what is troubling me. As I write this words, my computer is running a Matlab routine searching for the solution to n x n sistem of equations. This routine is supossed to deliver a solution vector which I need in order to go on with my Final Project so as to receive my degree in Material Engineering. However, Matlab ain't using all the resources the machine can give. For instance, out of the 24 threads, only one is being full solicitated. The same goes on for the RAM memory, only a 17% is being used. So the question is, is there a way to boost Matlab? How can I a…

I know the pros of a laptop over a desk top. Whatever purchase we want to make anywhere, everyone can quote all the reasons why we should. They leave us to discover the negatives after purchase - a bad time to find out. I am considering switching from a desk top to a laptop. Please tell me the negatives. I know the positives but what will I be sacrificing? If I know those, I can make an intelligent decision. Thanks.

Hey, Okay.. picture this: A remote Unix server with freeBSD, php, mysql. A php.ini file that's been changed and tweaked repeatedly, with no success. One annoying - repeating - error message: Cannot load session extension. Please check your PHP configuration. One, very frustrated, moo. Egh. Okay, I uploaded the files of phpMyAdmin, wrote the most basic stuff in the 'config.inc.php' file, then went to php.ini and made sure sessions are enabled, they are. The session details in the php.ini file are: session.name=PHPSESSID session.autostart=1 session.cookie_lifetime=0 session.cookie_domain= …

I have been given a task to come up with 4 different types of validation which I can implement into a database made in MS Access 2000. I know there are multiple ways of entering a validation rule (ie. Field Size or Input Mask) but for this task I need to do it in a specific way using the Validation Rule box, as shown in red below: I have only been able to think/make 3 such validation rules: #) Type of check --- Validation Rule 1) Presence check --- Is Not Null 2) Range check --- Between 1 And 10 3) Length check --- Like "?????" I can think of a few 4th different type of check, a picture/format check for example, the kind of thing you would normally …

Hi, I've been making this simple text-based game and I was wondering how to make the coding private. I know that if you right click and click 'Edit in notepad' it will bring up all the coding. How can I stop this? I know in C++ you can write 'private:' and the coding won't show up when trying to decompile but how do I do it in a batch file? Thanks.

I've just installed Tor on my computer to use as a proxy, but I'm wondering if its any good. I also want to know if it contains any malicious programs or spyware or something so that I can delete it before it does harm. I checked my virus scanner and so far it checks out. Does anybody here have it, know what it is, knows if it is any good. It's free if you want to download it by the way.
