The Notre-Dame cathedral is burning down right this minute. It is sad to watch an 850 year old monument go up in smoke. Apparently the big wooden steeple which was 70 meters high was constructed with lots of lead elements so as soon as the structure caught minor heat it all went like domino. I’ve been to Paris twice and never had a chance to see the cathedral, stupid me.

Well, they're gonna cut me up me tomorrow. Wish me luck or break a leg or that the neuro-surgeon will be sober. Come to think of it, if he will be sober he might have shaky hands Anyway, I hope the knife will not slip and sever my spinal cord.

No fever but I feel like crap and I can feel it in my throat that something is getting me.

"The Red Pill" a documentary about a men's rights movement. A very eye opening documentary made by a feminist.

Months of being cautious, refraining from social happenings and travel, washing my hands 50 times a day and wearing a mask to the toilet and there we go - we both got Covid me and my partner. We are 4-5 days into it, the test results came in today. She's got a moderate fever (38,5C) and lost her taste and smell, I only lost my strength and I'm sleeping 2 hours during the day 3rd day in a row. We are both caughing a little, our 4.5 year old kid seems completely fine. Christmas is going to be really awesome this year, what a f joke 2020 is. I'm pissed as hell, the vaccine is just a couple weeks away and we didn't make it.

@MigL, Ispoke to a virologist today, apparently I should get vaccinated as soon as possible regardless whether I have the anti bodies or not. Plus there is the new mutation in the UK which the current 3 vaccines should be working against at least for now.
-
Starting on Dec 26 my province ( Ontario ) is going under full lock-down, for at least a month. As far as I know, the mutations have had little effect on the spike configuration of the Coronavirus, so the vaccines should still work.
Man, I can't wait for my vaccine injection !
Until then, hope you and yours stay safe and healthy. -
@MigL We are at locdown here untill January 17th at least. I hope you get your vaccine soon, it looks like there is a chance we will be getting the Pfizer vaccine in January here. I would much prefer to get my immunity from the vaccine and not from Covid but it is what it is.

Every time I read "we're praying for the Manchester attack victims" a small part of me dies.

Ah, life...5 hours in family court again this morning. 7th year of unwinnable mayhem continues.

Anti-vax march in Warsaw here today, looks like 30 thousand or more are there. Curious that the scum of the earth is associated with them and seem to live a symbiotic life - nazi preachers, agressive conspiracy theorists, extreme right preachers, etc. If I Firefighters should fill their trucks with hydrogen peroxide and use it on the protesters, scary to walk into town today.

Yep, they’re concerned about a few thousand imigrants from Syria which never came but they’re blind to raping the Constitution by the the puppet president, taking control over the High Court by the ruling party and destroying the media both TV and Radio by putting their people everywhere who preach propaganda which Kim Jong Un would be proud of. Did I mention alienating EU and the rest of the world and moving towards Putin’s „open arms” and glorifying Rydzyk who is a catholic priest in the richest 100 in Poland. His pupils from his „media school” are hired in all media stations controlled by the government, in fact there is nothing more to fuck up...except maybe not vaccinating everybody so we can all have ourselves a nice pandemic.

I agree with you on all points. The only thing that saddens me is your attitude (or what I think is your attitude) about this.
No country is perfect and yes, those are all valid points but don't be so grim. I am an expat (ex-pet?) living here for the last 6 years and to be honest I have not experienced discrimination. Quite the opposite. People were always interested because I was a polar bear. Poland is cool koti. Don't loose hope!

All US citizens please accept my condolences. Also, I heard there's a huge party at Putin's place tonight. We are all officially screwed.

You know you’re getting old when just yesterday you got spam about dating girls in your mailbox and now it’s either toe fungus medication or viagra.

Say an undercover government agent attends an anti government protest shouting and pretending to be them. Is this a provocation or is there a different, more accurate word?

I think I know now where my confusion came from. In English, provocation is the act of provoking (at least a couple of dictionaries from the top of google say so) wheres in my language not quite. "Provocation" has a more clear political meaning in Polish to a point. Its defined as a sneeky act done by an agent to do damage etc. Both words "Provocation" and "Prowokacja" are translated to each other directly but the carry a little bit different meaning.
-
Same in French; "une provocation" has the sneaky political meaning as well as the more general meaning.
In any case , in English the sneaky political meaning of "a provocation" is quite an important one and certainly is clear when used in context.
I seem to remember from my time in France when Polish people would manage to escape from the Soviet bloc that there was a connection between the Poles and the French that was perhaps partially reflected in the language)

Seems a propos to this little thread (both terms are used ,but not in the "strong" sense of causing actions to take place (allegedly). In fact they claim to have refrained from joining in the ongoing action and so had their cover blown.

It's astonishing that small, seemingly irrelevant things can make you feel so much better about everything around you and yourself.

Win10 update killed all my browsers. Newtork is there, pings go through, all the browsers are dead. Its a known and defined problem apparently but nothing worked including reinstalling network drivers from USB (yes I flushed DNS and did all the CMD procedures) I had to rollback to previous OS version. I don't even know which update did it, I don't have time to look now. Beware of the latest Win10 updates!

You should try going to website by IP, entering f.e.http://127.0.0.1 (install XAMPP if you don't have Apache installed locally *) or f.e. http://151.101.113.67
(CNN IP Address)
This way you will verify whether it's DNS issue, or TCP/IP packets are blocked (firewall?),
whether it's Internet related problem or it's even local HTTP server not working..
*) in folder C:\xampp\htdocs\ make index.php file with contents "<?php printf("OK!" ); ?>" (The simplest possible PHP script).

I used to use Avast and AVG over the years, the new win defender looks pretty good actually. I did some controlled tests and it prevented simulated attacks from my server downtown. I have a psychological problem using any antivir software now after having to rollback every day for 3 weeks due to the ESET issue. Im sure I will cure myself eventually though, thanks for the tips MigL.

I am proud of myself and my partner. We hae a 6 month old, after my partner obviously refused to drink, one of the guests at a gettogether at our place last night stated that brestfeeding doesnt make sense after 6 months as the mothers milk becomes null nutritionally. Both me and my partner managed not to engage in conversation which would inevitably result in me having an episode.

About half of the threads in the new content feed are spam bots posting spam. Is there something that can be done?

There is a flaw in the forum engine. I am unable to open a thread in the trash can section of the forum. I would like to be able to do that to lure some of the users to discuss things there...like Pymander & John Lesser.

The trash can isn't there for members to post in. It's there for staff to move posts and threads that don't belong anywhere but. Having it open to members would be pandemonium, since the whole point is that the threads there are utter rubbish, deemed not suitable for discussion.
Furthermore, I find your attitude disheartening. As frustrating as some members are, you should always hope that they improve rather than continue as is or get worse.
