So.. Take a lead block they said... Drill a hole and drop americium in it they said.. Cover the hole with aluminum foil and you have a neutron gun... My question would be, what can i use it for maybe some other new experiments. if you have any great ideas tell me please. i will give you the results of following. becouse basically there is nothing about the neutron gun in google

There is this 'experiment' to suck an egg into a bottle by lowering the pressure with heat. Is there a way to remove the egg from the bottle without using vinegar and baking soda?

  3. Introduction: All across the internet you hear of people talking about decellularization of plants with soap being possible, but nobody seems to have tried it. anywhere. So, with a beaker, grapes, and a solution of 100mL of soap to 400mL water I set to work and ran the experiment for 27 or so days. Procedure: 1.Two grapes were each cut into four slices and laid flat in a 500mL beaker. 2. 100mL of soap and then 400mL of water were poured into the beaker and lightly stirred. 3. The grapes were photographed everyday (excepted for one or two Saturdays when I forgot). 4. The grapes were placed onto a paper towel, photographed, and left to dry…

Hello all, I created this thread so people could share their experiences with the double slit experiment. Below are the files from my attempt to recreate the experiment. Multiple apparatuses were constructed from a paper template. However, there were problems with the cutting of the slits themselves which could have affected the results (shaky hands and delicate cutting don't mix). A 55mw red laser did not produce an interference pattern, but something cool happened when a light from the shop was placed the apparatuses. 6. We know that exposure to light and heat burns out the luminescent property of phosphorous, but I found something else. It wasn't so much an experiment as a discovery. I used to paint with phosphorous a lot, phosphorous mixed with acrylic medium mostly. Stars, cities, things like that. For one painting I taped a magnet to the back of the canvas and threw at speed a mix of phosphorous, steel shavings and acrylic medium at the canvas, at the magnet. When it dried, which was just minutes, the phosphorous surrounding the magnet was completely burned out. It never glowed again. I had not seen phosphorous burn out like that before. It wasn't heat or light.

Hello, I am studying about Arsenic and doing experiment to analysis Arsenic in soil by ICP-MS machine. But i don't know how to prepare samples before use that machine. I had read a lot of papers but one has another method and the others has different methods (especially radio of acid we should add). Please help me to know why they have a different standard? Thank you so much

Hi, i have a question. I need to know how much newton it takes to seperate 2 magnets or a magnet from a from a piece of metal. I've bought a spring scale that measures max 50 gram. Now what if i attach the scale to the magnet and i pull it horizontally just enough to seperate the magnets and the meter reads 10 gram, does it then mean it took 0.001 Newton to seperate the magnets? And i can use that to convert it into watthours to have a mechanim seperate the magnet with that amount of watthours? Really appreciate the answers

  10. My science fair project is based on pain perception with external factors, and the testing process involves ice. It would be really great if I could get a bunch of suggestions on some catchy ice puns, creative slogans/names, or anything cool for a High School science fair! Currently, these are the names I've come up with... (Cringe warning) Iceolation Sensation, Ice Ice Baby, Snow Much Pain, Blindfold my ICE, ICE what you're doing there If there is anyone that can help, it'd be great!

Hi, I'm trying to do an experiment for air which I can do at home. What I need is an air pump which can suck in air then expel it into something. I've been looking on amazon for air pumps but obviously just because it says it's an air pump doesn't mean it's going to do what I want. So do you guys know any air pumps that fit my specifications? I'm hoping to buy something really cheap, pretty small and easy to carry. Cheers

  15. To perform this experiment a motor connected to a rotating disc of a solid construction throughout its volume is required. The motor needs to be able to rotate the disc to as higher RPM as possible (within the limitations of resources), this discs diameter being parallel with the ground will serve to better demonstrate this concept. The other two components required are a means to measure force exerted on the underside of the disc in the upward direction, while the second is a means to measure the force exerted on the top side of the disc in the downward direction. It is worth noting that the two measurements of force exerted upward on the underside of the disc an…

I tried several ways to burn nitrocellulose. Burning it in a glass jar is pretty nice. I would like to burn it in a graduated cilinder. But will the glass of the cilinder be strong enough? It creates a lot of pressure... Made 2 videos about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceT0HTj9c2Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBJEtYQQQXs

Hi all, So I've got a little experiment everyone can do. Simply write down the memory of an event that happened today on a piece of paper, in as much detail as you can, then fold it up the paper and put it away somewhere, some time later (remember how long, a day is good, a week is great, more is better) rewrite down the memory again in as much detail as you can, you can repeat this as many times as you want. If you could share the results that would be great. I've done this experiment many times and found quite a lot of memory drift. of course this is only mildly scientific, it has many flaws, any recommendations to improve data would be appreciated, any …

I have a project for my physics class regarding magnetism and want to demonstrate diamagnetism, ferromagnetism, and paramagnetism. Does anyone have any ideas for experiments where I can successfully show these? I want to keep it simple, as in the items involved in these experiments should be available in stores/online. Any ideas?

  19. I am planning to conduct an experiment on the effects pesticides have on lifespan. I want to make this a valid experiment, so I have questions on how to go about doing this. I am planning on having two groups: one fed only conventional foods and another fed only organic food. I plan on treating the conventionally-fed mice as the control group, but should I have a separate control group fed with only mouse food? Also, how many mice should I have in each group? I don't have access to a lab, so can my experiment still be valid if I keep them at my house? Thanks for all the help!

  21. Are there any science careers that focus on the scientist looking at the variables and seeing how accurate the experiment is?or do scientists do everything, create experiment consider all aspects and test them? I am really interested in analyzing all the variable to try to see if there are any variables that weren't considered and could be effecting the results. I am interested in measuring how accurate the experiment really is. For instance it looks at how many women versus men are in this experiment , what their health conditions are, what their religions and living conditions are in order to make the experiment more accurate.I really want to either get a science job,or…

  22. Hey guys, I'm using the chladni cymatrics plate as a component in an art sculpture and have posted about this before. I finally got around to buying my vibration generator and wave generator. I hook everything up and turn to the frequencies that produce patterns and nothing happens. I can get one or two simple patterns but that's it. The square metal plate has a slight bend on side, could this be the issue? If not I think it must be something to do with the wave generator I purchased. So below I'll link the vibration generator and wave generator below and you guys can tell me if I've wasted $160 on a wave form generator that can't get the job done... LOL Hopefully not. An…

I hate variables when defined as independent and dependent and control , I can easily spot them in any example unless its for a project we have done . PLEASE help ,We added a base to mot , put a handle on it and hooked up 9v to leads , used voltage meter to m…

After many days of distillation I finally finished distilling 4 kg of sugar + 16 L water + yeast + feed + raisins set up (started 19 January). And presenting you detailed results of each stage. Including amount of energy needed for running hot plate, time (both from watt meter) and water for cooling and costs. Setting this up cost around $5.08 (price of sugar + yeast + feed + raisins). So, total $5.08 + $4.77 = $9.85 needed to produce 1786 mL of ethanol ($5.515/L). Percentages of ethanol are so good after 1st stage because it's distillation in water bath (so there is needed to cook 800 mL + 2-3 L of bath). Without water bath typical results were average …
