I need help with my "almost a Kelvin Generator". I say almost as it's not working yet. This is what it is meant to do http://demo.physics.uiuc.edu/lectdemo/scripts/demo_descript.idc?DemoID=1099 (sorry I can't find a better explanation of the theory atm) I get no sparks, this is my setup http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/2097/img4566np0.jpg http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/9206/img4565vz7.jpg The wires have crocodile clips on eather end, the gap is about 4mm. The only major differance is the material of the lower containers. Should the charge still build up in the water? I can't believe that it was so hard and keep made while I did the experiments.

I am interested in knowing if anyone can repeat my modification of the "DIY Quantum Eraser Experiment". Directions for how to perform the experiment can be found on YouTube. My modification involves replacing the two linearly polarized films in the experiment with two circularly polarized films to see what happens. I have observed that marking the two light paths with circularly polarized light does not erase the interference pattern contrary to the which-path theory. Ordinary clear cellophane tape "Scotch tape" serves well as a circular polarizing film and the tapes become orthogonal at a 45 degree angle. The tapes can be applied to glass for support. A micro…

Why are mathematicians afraid of contradictions? In my opinion, contradictions should be afraid of physics, and mathematicians study everything that can be imagined. So why not head into the world of prohibitions and experiment with "absolute mathematical completeness"? In this article, I will briefly try to describe the results of my observations. Here you will not see the hard evidence on which my assumptions are based. All the same, they will not be interesting to anyone. I just want to get people interested in looking for new ways to code. Binary classical and quantum systems are not the only ways of ordering information, and for some reason no one talks about this, a…

When soap water is applied to a paper where a thin layer of turmeric paste is coated , the paper had become red color. When washed with soap the stain of turmeric turns red because turmeric contains the tartaric acid and soap contains sodium hydroxide, a base. ... Therefore, it is the chemical reaction that led to the change in the colour of the stain from yellow to red.

I just joined up. Normally I could get the attention of 10s of thousands of views a day on Twitter, but the grand masters of information decided to silence me for my humble opinions regarding technical stuff on molecular biology...I digress.. I have been doing my own style of microbiological research for close to 2 decades. I call myself an amature, but have done real life practice in the field, dispite any board certifications including running a "hobby lab". About the rat, named Marcel. He is a pet now. He suffers from extreme itch, and scratches incessantly...and sometimes it drives him crazy. Checked him for everthing. Even treated for several othe…

Hi I would like to have a go at growing crystals with Water Glass, or Sodium Silicate, NaSiO_3 IIRC, As I don't have any to hand, I do have small bags of Silica Gel that you get in shoe boxes for example. Is this the same substance, and is this water soluble . In which case is this a case of fill a small container with water and place the gel in to dissolve it.. I am guessing this is yes, but just asking. Thanks Paul

Hello all! I'm designing an experiment of using a variable voltage power supply (0-30V, max 10A) to power magnetic copper wires wrapped around an E shaped iron core. The wire has a resistance of 0.000533 ohms per cm, the diameter of the wire is 0.065cm, the iron core's dimensions are 2.54x3x6.5 cm3. From the calculations, I found that it takes roughly 40 'turns' of the wire around the core; this is in total 760cm of wire length (minus the wire length between the core and the power supply). The total resistance I found in the coil would be 0.405 ohms. From Ohm's Law, I would get around 74A of current from this setup. Questions: 1. To calculate the mag…

Hi, I recently performed an experiment similar to the Schmidt (1980) experiment, and unlike Schmidt, I got something that looks like a positive result, but only after numerous unsuccessful attempts. This is part of the abstract of the Schmidt (1980) paper; A Search for Advanced Fields in Electromagnetic Radiation: An experiment to search for an advanced component of electromagnetic radiation, as suggested by the time symmetry of Maxwell's equations was conducted. A dipole transmitting antenna was driven periodically with 10.2 GHz microwave pulses of 12 ns duration and 4 watt instantaneous power. A receiving dipole antenna at a distance R = 10m away was instrumented …

I’m looking for a composite or natural material that’s very light, and can be heated to a high temperature with propane gas, then gas turned off and put unit into a small contained area to act as a heater. Weight is an important factor.

I was wondering if anyone here knew about the principles of suction, given I'm trying to do an experiment. Take a pan with with a lid, boil water, and have only a small opening atop the lid to let out steam would induce suction in theory around the side of the lid, yes...?

I've seen a lot of information about concentrating both the 3% versions of hydrogen peroxide, and the 30%. I've seen the idea of boiling it (bad idea, due to vapor detonation), and I've seen freezing it (which seems somewhat less explosive) - however can someone explain to me the fine points of freezing hydrogen peroxide, and then removing the concentrated product. If I had the 3% solution, what temperature would it freeze at, and how would I remove the concentrated product, and what concentration would it be. If I use the 30% version (I would prefer this infinitely, as it would give me more peroxide, and I have no problem getting 30% Hydrogen peroxide) - again, the same …

Hello, I am new here and several of us have a few questions. We have seen several video's like this. 1. Are these actually powering a bulb? 2. How long would last if never stopped? 3. Any fire danger? 4. I have a retrieving that says it will lift 800 lbs. 5. Any danger of doing the same thing with the retrieving magnet? 6. How big a light will it power? Thanks for looking. I am retired and have some kids asking me. I wonder also.

Let's say, in theory... that I recently discovered that my thoughts have been being harvested by mind readers that can hear my every thought, and that I could faintly hear them the whole time, (but only recently realized it as I recall the memories of the voices I thought were an extension of my own thoughts), and now they're getting annoying, because they're trying to get me to stop listening to them... LOL wild start, but stick with me. What kind of experiments could I try to stop them from reading my mind? (serious answers please) I can try some tests, and see if I could still hear them. (nothing too invasive)

So say you live in a house in a cold sunny place like deep Russia or Canada or Alaska. Do you think it would make sense from the engineering and cost saving point of view to create a thin, flat water container to place as the house roof top, paint it with Black 2.0 paint which is extremely black so it should absorb a really big amount of heat from the sun which would heat up the water in the roof top container and distribute it through a pipe system into the household? It should be a fairly cheap system, just an aluminium water container, bunch of pipes running into the house and a simple water pump...plus lots of that black 2.0 paint. Anyone know how would this do in rea…

I've read many papers about muscle and more specifically, myocytes contractility and and excitation. The question is, will it be possible to extract muscle from the body and experiment on it dependently ? Or does it have to be strictly in vivo ?

"...the heart is removed from the water and a non-wired up heart is placed in the same tank of water and begins to beat." Sooo I study osteopathy. I'm really enjoying the course, I get to work in a clinic and first-hand see the treatments implemented and how people overcome their pain through their treatment. One of my lecturers isn't a qualified osteopath however, they are more like a form tutor come first year guide into science, complimentary medicine and ethics. They're nice enough, though I really don't think they likes any of the work that I've handed in. They also have a high respect for homeopathy and reiki. Don't get my wrong, I'm not going to start bei…

Hi all, experiment with an ‘extended life’ galvanic concentration cell driven by stratified electrolytes that you can build and experiment with for yourself. The cell produces a small but continuous electric current flow through an external load resistor for many months without going dead. The cell comprises a tall slender iced tea glass filled with a 1-mole concentration of aqueous cupric chloride (copper II chloride) solution. The cell further comprises two circular loop shaped copper electrodes (just small enough to fit inside the iced tea glass) immersed into the cupric chloride solution wherein a first electrode is immersed into the bottom of the solution and wherein…

Testing out the idea of a balloon made from a hallowed out egg. https://quatr.us/china/made-first-hot-air-balloon-china.htm As commonly described I agree with most that think it couldn't work due to the weight of the shell. One thought on the balloon front was to remove the hard shell with a vinegar bath. Results in a decent membrane but the egg tore apart on me as I tried to subsequently remove the egg white/yolk. Think what might work is to remove the egg white/yolk first and then to use the vinegar. Thinking piping in hot air might work from that point on. I can't see direct exposure to flame as being possible. Did manage to get a hard hallowed e…

Just to share. In cases that you are watching your favorite game or movie on your tv set at home and somehow you could not change volume or change channel as it seems the Remote Controller is not working , try this. Point the part of the Remote Controller that you usually point on your tv set directly on the camera of your Smart phone and press any button. It supposed to be ( as I believe there are certain brands will not work as to iphone, but mine works perfectly as I am using Samsung J7, Android), that you will see a bluish or purplish light on your smart phone's LCD. One way to check if the the problem is the RC or the tv set itself. Then try to change batteries of…

Hi all. I knocked up some WM2D sims to try cancelling counter-torque from a motor, using 'inertial torque' from changing moment-of-inertia. So for example, if we drag some orbiting mass inwards, we get a positive inertial torque, caused by conservation of angular momentum increasing speed to compensate the drop in MoI, so preserving their product. Suppose we have two identical rotors, in free space (no gravity), connected by a motor. We begin with them in uniform rotation - same speed and sign. Then we fire the motor, decelerating one rotor to halt, whilst doubling the speed of the other. Now, let's add an inertial torque to the decelerated rotor - up…
