Windows 10 is such a COLOSSAL piece of shit!!! To begin with, it crashes about 3x a week, but then secondly, and more importantly, today, for the third time in a space of about a month it has irrevocably lost an IMMENSELY important file for me! And it won't just delete the file, no, that would make it recoverable, instead, the son of a bitch makes sure to lose it in a way that would be IRREVOCABLE! What it does is that it OVERWRITES the file with an empty file. So the file is titled the same, but is completely empty. What happens is I'm working on this text file and the computer will freeze up, give me that blue screen and when I restart the computer the file…

I have a predictor method that takes differential equations of 214 biological species and integrates them in time. Right now it is able to successfully integrate the differential equations when the time step is positive, so right now it can integrate forwards in time and I was looking to see if it could be integrated backwards in time. By that I mean I was looking to see if the differential equations could be integrated using a negative time step, based on using the following method for integrating the differential equations. The predictor method uses the forward Euler equations for each species in order to predict its value at the next time step. The corrector method …

I've had this problem for a long time. Basically, in vide games the FPS constantly switches from normal to unplayable with regular patterns are regular duration. I will play normally for 15-20 seconds then get 10 seconds of unplayable gameplay. It's completely distracting. I know it's not that the computer is weak because I've played the same games before with no stuttering and the fact that it can run very well when these episodes aren't happening reinforces the thought that it's something else. I've cleaned the comp, reinstalled windows, changed processor paste, ran virus checks and everything I can imagine, yet this problem keeps coming back. I've avoided solvi…

Hi. At some web pages, (mainly newspapers) the fan in my laptop always speeds up; which I believe such sites are pumping some content that I never see at all, because am using an advertisement blocker. Fan returns to 'normal' speed after exiting such sites. Does it make sense that blocked content still gets downloaded (but not displayed) increasing the processor activity ? When such hyperactive behavior happens, all browsing slows down, but pages show pristine clean, free of 'jumping monkeys'. Running Linux since '95, blocker since '07.

Does a VPN add any worthwhile added protection for financial transactions online, like banking and shopping, on top of the default SSL? I use a separate browser (firefox) for all my stuff involving money and Chrome for general browsing. I'm looking into ways of hardening up the security on the financial part of my internet use. I use NoScript, HTTPS Everywhere, uBlock Origin on FireFox and it is setup to delete everything on exit so no passwords or form data are saved.

I tried to remove two partitions, listed as disk F and G. I deleted the contents first and then tried to get rid of them but no luck. If I try to format them they just come up "Windows was unable to format...". If I click on the partitions in Windows Explorer it says "Please insert a disk into F". It thinks it's a CD drive. I want to get rid of the partitions and just have one. Stick is an Integral usb 2.0.

Which one and why? I've had my current laptop since late 2011 and thinking of getting a new one soon but not sure which one is best. Anyone here have any opinions? My current laptop is a Windows PC. What kind of things can you do with a Mac which you can't do with a Windows PC? What sorts of things did you take into account before purchasing your first computer/laptop? Also, are ipads any good? What's so good about ipads?

Hi, I have a professional account Linkedin. When I make a Google search for myself, it returns in the wrong language. Explaining. My location Is Greece The result of a search for myself returns the correct page but at the address https://nl.linkedin.com....(Which means Netherlands, and the text after the search is in Dutch language) I expected a result that match my location (gr) and the text in English language. I have checked the settings of my Linkedin account and everything is OK (location Greece, language English, etc. I am currently exchanging emails with the Linkedin help center. when they make a search for my account, the result is under format https://fr.…

Hello, I've been browsing the web but can't find all of my answers. I wish to upgrade my laptop by adding an external graphics card (was thinking of a geforce gtx 980), but I then remembered that I have an old laptop with a gtx 860M. But first of all, what happens when you add an external graphics card? Does the PC use only one or both together? If I add the same graphics card, will I notice an evolution? I am far from being an expert in this domain so sorry if my questions seem dumb. Is it, in theory possible for me to use my old gtx 860M and add it to my laptop? Here are my specs: Processor Intel® Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz Video Card Intel® HD Graphic…

A couple of weeks ago I bought a brand new laptop (Asus kx501UX with Windows 10) and I've been having an issue with the date and time. When I open the laptop after it has been asleep for a while the date is totally incorrect - usually two days off but sometimes weeks away. If I turn the automatic time sync on and off it corrects the problem temporarily but later happens again. I have tried syncing with different time servers but something weird happens - the date corrects itself when I click update but I also get an error message saying that the connection to the timer server timed out. I have checked and the time is also correct in BIOS and after startup. This issue h…

I'm pretty much an ace with MS Word , but this is something that has stumped me: I'll have a "continuous" break in a Word document and on its own, Word will change it to a page break! So how do I change it back?

I know, PC constant crash can be caused by various reasons. But now the problem happens on the computer when sorts of ads by Dns unlocker appear. I tried to find the reason and unluckily I was informed that the system could be attacked by dns unlocker malware which could consume CPU usage and affect system performance (see info 'what is DNS Unlocker'). I have no idea how to deal with the issue because antivirus software found nothing.

I have a 7870 Radeon GPU in my PC. Display is set to 60 Hz (maximum supported). Could somebody please explain me the following things: 1. When I turn Vsync ON, set FPS limit to 60 and the GPU renders less than 60 FPS, for example 43, which would be the actual number of displayed frames? 2. When I turn Vsync OFF, set FPS limit to 30 and the GPU renders more than 30 FPS, for example 33, which would be the actual number of displayed frames? Thanks for advance!

I've been pretty worried about my computer's health lately since it Blue Screened that it had a missing/corrupt kernel and it's been acting up even before that. Everytime I try to turn it on, the monitor just shows a "no signal" sign and a black screen afterwards. It usually turns on after 2 or 3 resets. I'm not quite sure if it's a monitor, VGA cable, or a motherboard (since I don't have a dedicated GPU) issue. What should I do? Here are the specs of my PC: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8 GHz MB: ASUS P5KPL-AM 3GB of RAM Thanks in advance, guys!

I recently got a present of an android tablet from my big brother for my birthday. The tablet came with an inbuilt sd-card which had 5GB of free space. However the tablet itself only has about 300mb of free space. Now when I try downloading apps it fails because there isn't any free space on the tablet. Is there any way to change the default install location of apps to the sd card??

When receiving an email sent from an iPad using the Mail app containing one or more attachments, I also receive extra text file attachments. These extra attachments appear to contain any email text apparently typed after the file or files were attached. In other words, any text typed after attaching a file ends up in a text file attachment and not in the body of the email! I'm using Outlook 2010 and 2013. It seems to me to be a bug with the iPad Mail app as it only occurs with emails from them. I've told the iPad users to get a proper computer! Anyone have any thoughts or experienced the same?
