I am an MSc Forensic Psychology student and I am conducting a study to fulfil the requirements of my degree. This involves completing a 15 minute survey, in which you would be asked questions about your experiences and perceptions of unwanted sexual attention, as well as a number of questions about your alcohol use. If. you are over the age of 18 and interested in participating please follow the link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VWNG57F ...You will be provided with more information about the study, including example questions, before coming to any decision. You would be under no obligation to take part and may withdraw at any stage. Your participation would be completel…

Hello! I am a graduate student in Social Psychology at Saint Louis University. I hope you will consider participating in my master’s thesis research regarding attitudes towards political and moral issues. I am seeking participants living in the US and over the age of 18 who are willing to complete an online survey that will require less than 20 minutes of your time. This study is completely voluntary and you may discontinue your participation at any time throughout the survey. You may begin participation by clicking on the link below and will find additional information about your participation there. Also, if any of your personal contacts would be intereste…

We all know that all plants live and then die. When you pluck an apple from a tree it is no longer taking in the nutriente and soon dies. Almost like if a person stops eating and drinking. When a man starves to death his heart stops beating you declare him dead. This may sound silly. But,.,,,,, Is it all possible to tell the moment of deth with a plant?

I am not interested in the firing of neurons or the chemical reactions. I am looking for any studies or information concerning the process of logical thought. I call it the program that runs the brain for lack of knowledge. Anything even in simple animals would be a help. I am also interested in learning about how imprinting works with the brain, sensors, and hormones if at all. Any and all help welcome.

Something reminded me of this remarkable building recently. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1053/1488454529_cc202cbd73.jpg It must have an aspect ratio of a million to 1, with weight reasonably distributed along it, including at the top, and yet it stands.

First off, I will say that I believe in the Big Crunch theory, and I hope others are persuaded to think differently until reading my thoughts on it. I know that all of the universe is expanding outward, along with the Milky Way Galaxy. I also know that the Galaxy is moving at high rates of speed, and then the earth is also revolving at and high rate of speed, and rotating even at an higher rate of speed. But, it is believed by some scientists that all of the universe was created from a single point, the "Big Bang" theory, and that the universe is expanding from that explosion. It has also been proven that we are slowing down in our expansion. My question to th…

Hi. What liquid in which diameter capillary tube of what material would rise the most ? If the vertical rise for a given set is let's say 100mm; and at about 90mm of the capillary column the tube bends 180º downwards as siphon... ¿ will it drip ? Miguel

Hi I am new on this forum. For my science fair, I am considering devising ways to keep carbonated, bottled (soft drinks) from going "flat", or, basically losing the bubbles. So, for my question. Do you guys have any ideas, or things that I can do?? It can be anything, but preferably not too complicated, and possibly somthing I can engineer or build. I look forward to hearing your Ideas!!!

viXra.org is an "alternative" to arXiv.org intended for those who do not like the restrictions imposed on the arXiv. It seems to me so far to be full of "non-mainstream " physics. There are even names on it that we have seen here! Is such a website useful? Is it in fact harmful? Remember that in reality the arXiv does not reject many papers. One critique of the arXiv is that it does not reject enough, if you have a mainstream point of view. If you are more on the fringe you may disagree. My personal view is that it is not needed and could be detrimental to science. Have a look at the institute of physics news report.

I would love to see a paper by a scientist that dealt specifically with the energy involved in reusing nuclear waste. I mean, it seems like the characteristics of nuclear reactions would demand you use as much energy as was given off to get back to what you started with. I'm sure scientists have figured out ways around this, but I am just wondering to what extent that is true. If we had to pump 75% of the energy we got from nuclear power plants into reusing the waste it wouldn't look so good. But again, I have never seen any actual numbers on this.

hi, I was wondering if Dobbs theory - of the coined psitrons entering another time zone collecting information in the future then going back to the person of interest, in other words 'precognition', has or could have any correlation to the apparent extra time line, said by stephen hawking, and imagined vertically from our normally experienced straight line past-present-future time flow.

I know that the foundation of atoms is quanta energy, and the foundation of that is the human mind, and the foundation of the human mind is quantum superposition. What exactly is the quantum superpostion though? I have a feeling that I might be asking a dumb question because I am new to this kind of stuff. Actually, I am still pretty new to science in general, and I have a lot to learn.

I was wondering if there exist research on humans evolutionary and unconsciouses judgment of potentials and danger in the surroundings? I know that John Falk has made the savannah theory about evolutionary preferences linked to the habitat, in which the origine of humans where living. But does anyone had a look at the process itself? Does human scan the environment all the time?

Ok here goes. I am trying to find a corilation between high intelligence and depression. We have all heard the phrase "ignorance is bliss" and stupid people are often happy as a pig in sh*t . I have never added a poll to a thread before so I hope this works. I know this is will not prove anything at this stage but it will do untill I devise a decent test.

I want to have an informed opinion about it, so what do you all know? My theory is that human behavior is so complicated that series of psychological variations lead to changes in natural feelings, such as homosexuality. It is real, but not inborn. The observations to support my theory : Homosexuality has become more common, society has become more complicated, and homosexuality has been aknowledged as an option. Things are more likely to grow if they are a known option. 2nd is Homosexuality in animals, actually i don't really know (read a few articles but nothin definate). Are there any animals that are SOLELY homosexual. Various circumstances (domestication for example…

Consider that Earth is a pale blue dot in the eyes of an observer from a distance. Could said observer whom is technologically advanced use optical technology to trace physical items over a long range and test for certain geometric shapes that may be intelligible, including shapes with dynamic features (aka: moving objects with wheels)? Surely, if there is an object with wheels, I can assume another species of intelligence from a far-away land would recognize us as somewhat intelligible.

Hi everyone, First post here. I have several questions. Is anyone familiar with Carey Reams and Biological Theory of Ionization ? I'm looking for general info and loopholes of it, but I can't find anything concrete using google. Is it pseudo-science or do anyone believe in it ? I'm also looking for info of whether high Brix farming or gardening is real science or a fad. Thanks !

Because nuclear waste produces a fairly powerful ionizing affect, could it be possible to create a generator of some sort that will absorb the ionizing energy and convert it into something useful such as electricity or matter which has energy potential that is easier to convert? We can detect that Nuclear waste has a significant amount of energy, so we should be able to convert it into something useful in a large enough amount to power even a city (with enough waste). this could also cause the waste to lose it's radioactivity, making it easier to recycle.

If this article is correct, it appears that electrical cells capable of electroplating silver on to other metals have been around for 2500 years. I am astonished that this discovery is not commonplace knowledge. I regarded the ancient Egyptians as farmers, fisherman and superb builders, but not as scientists who beat Alessandro Volta to the electrical cell Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedSo sorry guys - here is the link: http://www.world-mysteries.com/sar_11.htm
