  1. I whistle sometimes - a bit of bluesy stuff mostly, sometimes with roughly played guitar, sometimes by itself. I haven't found a good answer to why it is more difficult to whistle when my mouth and lips are dry. I've read claims it is because the mouth shape is easier to achieve with a lubricated mouth but was not convinced; I've seen harmonica players dip their instruments in a glass of water and recall school sports where the teacher/umpire dipped sports whistles in water like that ( to get more volume I thought), so I think it not just about the human mouth. I speculate that the wet film both smooths the texture of mouth surfaces and a wet surface reflects sound waves …

This is just a theory, and I don't know if anyone else has come up with it. My theory is about how time travel relies upon the multiverse being a reality. The Multiverse is pretty self explanatory, in that for each and every outcome of an incident another universe is created. Meaning there could quite possibly be a universe where dinosaurs still exist and the Nazis won WWII. For time travel to exist though there must first be a multiverse, this way a paradox won't create an absolute ending. A great example is the grandfather paradox, in which someone goes back in time and kills their grandfather, But if they do that they were never born, which then means they weren't able…

Please see the above thread. By many accounts, science misinformation is firmly entrenched on twitter, which is where I, personally, get much of my science news. The odd part is that some of these lies seem more lazy than malicious. Why pretend that kinesin is endorphin... this will not gain you any social or political advantage. It's not clear that it will even result in more retweets.

What do you suppose will happen to someone whose diet consists of strictly 6-7 1oz boxes of frosted mini wheats for Breakfast. 5-6 1oz bags of plain lays chips per meal. 3 cups of lettuce and 2 cups of black olives per meal. No Dressing just the Lettuce and olives. Saltine Crackers packs of 2 several throughout the day as snacks. Will drink water. This is consistent everyday for going on a month so far.

I am trying desperately to try and figure out anti-gravity as I'm sure many of you are so we're trying to figure out ways to spin Mercury because we've heard all about the Nazi Bell and mercury and it's mysterious properties. Sew-in short because I have little experience with this I will be doing everything I can to search the forums and starting this discussion of course to find out as much information as I can I do have a theory and a design but any information on this would be helpful. For instance does mercury need to be made into a ferrofluid in order to be rotated sufficiently the generator magnetic field. I have an idea using a sphere with a certain placement neody…

From Wikipedia: "The Space Shuttle thermal protection system (TPS) is the barrier that protected the Space Shuttle Orbiter during the searing 1,650 °C (3,000 °F) heat of atmospheric reentry. " (it mentions several materials that are used. I would like to know how to create such tiles. I am not building a space shuttle, but think that this material can be useful in a fire-prone area. Perhaps stucco infused with TPS particles would save some houses. Or a thin coating sprayed over an existing house. Or perhaps am underground 'safe room' that could withstand high temperatures (somewhat similar to tornado shelters used in the mid-west).

Hello, my nickname is very related to science but what I want to work with is not really scientific or is discarded from what I researched from the science community. I'm researching on "vital energy" and how it can be used for healing not as part of subjective practice but to be expanded to form of "pill" or substance that can be used, digested or absorbed or scientific process which can induce that process in the human body. I wish I can con-join on start researching it from a scientific perspective to find a way to utilize it or "materialize" it and make data of properties, effects, results, and everything. Problem is that I do not have a science background and I do n…

  13. You made good illustrations .. but in the end you fail where most science fails in thinking you are at the end of the answer instead of the beginning of further understanding. One quote on this forum concerns facts as if they are facts .. but facts are facts only until new facts make the old facts unfacts, and thousands of years of science are full of examples. Modern science says, 'Those old sciences were not sciences at all.' What will future science say of today's science?

  14. All the online definitions for a scientific concept is that it's a general idea about things. This definition is too vague. Can some one please give me a clear example of a concept and describe it like "The concept of evolution is....." Also what is the primary difference or differences between a theory and a concept? Thanks for your replies in advance!

  15. Hydro Cycle Generator The invention relates to a renewable energy device, that recycles water, in a water cycle, to produce hydro electricity. Often hydro electricity is stopped by a lack of water in the cycle, due to low rainfall, or drought. During times of low water levels, the hydro electricity is stopped. Hydro electricity uses up water resources that could be used in other systems. This can cause environmental issues. To overcome these problems, this invention utilises the water cycle, where water evaporates, at low alititude, then rises in the now moist air, then condenses, when the air is cooled, at higher altitude. Normally this is due t…

  16. With all due respect to your professional expertise, sir, this comment is both philosophically naive and historically unprecedented. There are no cases at all, that I'm aware of, where all involved in a major theoretical paradigm gasp in horror at some new discovery or observation, concede falsification, and en masse abandon the paradigm, leaving themselves with no theoretical framework. Do you know of any? I'd provide sources to those who claim otherwise. Francis has declared it off topic, though. We can do it somewhere else if you like. I'm not defending their views per se, but more suggesting that what you're saying can be, and has be…

A general question about the oil/gas fracking process: Is the lateral line of a well usually fracked (and providing production) along almost the entire length of the lateral line or just the far end? Example: we have 9 lateral lines, each a half mile long, originating from a neighbor's acreage and extending to another neighbor's land. We're in the middle. Can we assume that oil/gas production is coming from under our land also, or are we just granting access? Note: we're in the Eagle Ford formation in Karnes County, Texas.

  21. Interestingly, one of the most important things Einstein did was show that Newton was wrong. Should Einstein not have done that because Newton was dead? It's amusing to note that I didn't say Einstein was wrong. I said he was right, and that's how you could tell that Beecee hadn't quoted him. Did you actually read what I said?

Also do you think just because a person has done great academic feats in there life but haven't taken an IQ test that they should necessarily be assumed to have a high IQ level, like Albert Einstein.
