Last week I've made four ATM withdrawals. This morning I've noticed that my account balance went up compared to a couple of days ago. Then I've noticed that all four ATM transactions disappeared from my activities. That is the total amount by which the balance grew. What should I do about it, if anything?

Hi all. When cooking something (just say rice, beans, potatoes...) to boil, I believe the correct way can be applying high power until boil starts. Then reduce the heat power to maintain just boiling without extra-energetic action as with higher-than-needed power. Water in it will not go beyond 100C anyway and any extra energy applied to the cooking process will not speed-up cooking and is wasted energy. Is that right ? Food will not cook in a shorter time if left to boil energetically, right ? 🤔

Hi all. I usually fry garlic cloves, or chopped onions in oil on a capped small glass pot. Varied results, 2.0 to ~2.5 minutes. Is there any tricks? Has the food to be submerged, or just sitting in oil, or just coated ? Covered or not ? (can make a mess) I do not have a small susceptor-lined pot. Any key ways to succeed, do it better ? Near to a frying pan results ?

I have a YouTube channel, but my lawyer advised me not to tell what it is. I am not advertising but I do need Ideas. My cousin domninic said something funny. Do you wanna see how to eat a bunch of chicken bones in one try? Just go OUEGH OUEGH OUEGH. How do I come up with stuff like that. That was comedy gold! What makes someone laugh. Say what makes something absurd. Just tell me Anyone?

To get the ball rolling... 1. Be kind, compassionate, and helpful in your interactions with others. 2. Broaden your horizons and study the subjects that interest you. 3. Try new things and engage in the activities which bring you joy. 4. Do not suffer in silence. When you are in need, ask for assistance. 5. Remain engaged in what you are currently doing to minimize errors. 6. When you do make an error, sincerely apologize, and learn from your mistakes. 7. Learn to laugh at your errors instead of dwelling upon them. 8. Engage in mindfulness exercises to help you relax. 9. Take care of your physical and socioeconomic needs. Actually a reverie ,not a dream as such but I don't recall this kind of a dreamlike imagining before. It is quite simple.I created a character in the "story sequence" in my head and the next thing I know I am having "first person" thoughts in the mind of that character. To explain, in my "dream" I seemed to myself to be having thoughts (about what I don't recall) in my own identity(the way, I imagine we all do -everyday ,inconsequential thoughts or musings when we are awake) Then as I awake from my reverie it became apparent that these thoughts were being authored by the this character in my reverie or half dream. Not a dramatic dream as such ,b…

Hello all. In U.S. some aircraft are registered as 'experimental' - Is there the same category for amateur built boats ? Do those need registration ? Is there any certification or approval - by who ? Anyone knows how does it work ? Is it true what I was told once that if a boat or hull is imported into U.S., must pass strict tests and hurdles to be registered and used. But if the hull is built in the U.S. even by an amateur; such restriction is not existent ?

Anybody ever watch the old BBC show Connections hosted by James Burke? My cousin clued me in to it, and I find it utterly fascinating. It basically links various inventions throughout history that lead us to where we are today. It’s freely available to stream on archive.org

Does anyone here ever try to follow the thread of their thoughts backward? If you start from now is it possible to go backwards in time through your thought processes and how long of a stretch can you manage? I sometimes try this ,normally when I am aware that I have forgotten something in my mind and, Jason like in the Minator's den I try to "retrace my steps". I would say 10 minutes might be my personal best.

Would this be fun and would it work? Suppose someone started a thread on any particular subject and the only participants in the ensuing discussion were ai chat robots using their particular software. There would be two or three or more participants and ,obviously after the first post one of them would post a first reply. There would need to be a rule that the post should be fairly short or ,to my mind it would be boring. And so on ,until maybe someone pulled the plug. Perhaps it would be interesting to see how the mistakes accumulated -a bit like a game of Chinese Whispers. Maybe this could be done with just the one chat robot if…

  16. From 1:40 on, you can hear him give an unflattering description of Feynman, describing him as obsessed with generating anecdotes about himself. Now, at the moment, I'm reading Surely You're Joking, Mr Feynman and I came to the book having already heard these criticisms from MGM and I was looking for sign of these kind of character traits and while I thought I saw them in some of the early chapters (where he would describe these counterintuitive systems that he would come up with for doing this or that that other people couldn't appreciate), later on there were things that ran contrary to this image of an egomaniac obsessed with making myths about himself that MGM describe…

From repeated hints in posts, I understand that many members of SFN also participate in other online science forums. What's the point of it? Do mostly the same people discuss mostly the same questions on different websites? What would be a reason for me to do so?

Just a thread to openly discuss what you might consider strange. Whether that be personal experiences or stories you have heard about, inexplicable coincidences, spooky experiences etc... For instance, I have been reading a few novels (paper back fiction) just lately and within those novels some of the details used in the narratives are often based on real events or real places/agencies/people. I read 2 books related by author but unrelated by story line. Both are fictional stories, but feature real life details that I had not come across previously. The things I read in each book, one was a place and one was an agency. Both which I had never ever seen or …

I remember seeing a long long time ago on Youtube a video with Feynman that I think was a long interview recorded for TV, rather than a documentary, but it started with Feynman drawing a picture of his wife as she poses. I remember he comments on how pretty she is and she responds with "You always say that, Richard." Does anyone know what the title of the program was?

Just funny. Reader's Digest has published an article entitled, 50 Science Trivia Questions People Always Get Wrong (With Answers) (rd.com). They could add a 51st question, "Is astrology a science?" According to their own first paragraph, the answer is, yes:

Next time, please, have a gulp of wine and come back with observations. I have tried some liquor (anise) too and worked. Bourbon, meeeh. Would like to see your reports. Thanks. 🤔
