Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

When science fiction was new most aliens were hideous monsters come to kidnap our daughters for mating experiments or creatures just like us that came to kidnap our daughters for mating experiments... But there are schools of thought that suggest that intelligent aliens might really be humanoid although that really doesn't pin down their looks we can say humanoid but humanoid covers a lot of ground and chances are there resemblance to use would be not much better than one head on top of it's body, two arms and two legs and torso. Not likely to be able to walk unnoticed at the beach for sure. This idea of alien intelligence being more or less human shaped in based…

The measurable physical property (frequency) has to be frame independent (invariant). I agree that "Velocity is a condition of the frame". That means that DeBroglie's formula is not correct. I propose to replace v in DeBroglies formula by some invariant difference between 4-d speed of an electron (q(0), q(1)) and 4-d speed of the target (p(0), p(1)). The difference s(0)=q(0)-p(0), s(1)=q(1)-p(1) . This vector s(k) has norm s and this s has to go instead of v in DeBroglies formula. In the frame where target is stationary we have p(0)=1, p(1)=0, q(0)=1/g , q(1)=v/g, where g=sqrt[1-(v/c)^2]. The calculation of s gives s=sqrt[2(1//g-1)] which is …

scientific research proved the origin of white europeans due to a albinism mutation SLC45A2/OCA2. we white people are thus not a race but mutated oculocutaneous albinos type 2. european dna also matches with dravidians of india namely haplogroup R. recent theories say that indian albinos migrated into northern europe through central asia because they had to flle the devastating effects of sunny climate in their indian homeland(this explaisn the term INDOeuropean). now we know why white scientists use albino lab rats to test medication for white people and use dark rats to test medication for melanated rest of humanity(blacks, latinos etc.) it also proves why…

I know many species are able to store metabolic byproducts, poisons from food, etc in glands and secrete them at will. Could a human possibly evolve to store and secrete acetone from cellular processes in a similar manner? Particularly glands in the palms and soles? If so, how exactly could this work? How long would it take for such an ability to evolve? By the way, this is just another weird question for my weird book, any help appreciated.

A while back I was trying to use the "elements/periodic table" to measure time, but it got closed , http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/82760-the-electron-years-what-element-are-you/ To cut to the chase, to go through a complete table was 3100 years, so I had cycles of 3100yrs within cycles, but to go through the next cycle took 5 million years(ever expanding cycles). I then wanted to see how many of these 3100yr cycles fitted within the 5,000,000yr cycle, This gave me 1612.9032, which I googled, These two caught my attention: This first one is an Acceleration Conversion Table, but am not quite sure what it is saying about this figure 1612.9032? http://ww…

I wasn't sure whether this should be in mathematics or physics, but as I'm speculating, it's probably better here. Is there any mathematical association between various crack-based patterns in nature, for example with earthquake fault lines, broken glass, etc? I was curious if the distribution of galaxies throughout the observable Universe follow a similar pattern? I'm sure there must be more accurate terminology to describe it other than "fractal", which seems too broad.

Further the discussion about: http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/94591-astronomers-have-discovered-a-super-fast-star-system-that-seems-to-break-current-physics-models/ In the article it is stated: http://futurism.com/astronomers-discovered-super-fast-star-system-seems-break-current-physics-models/ In the article it is stated: "The fact that PB3877 is zooming through the outskirts of the Milky Way is another thing that sets it apart from anything else astronomers have found. All the other hyper-velocity stars we know about have been relatively close to the supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy, and physicists have generally agr…

I made a thread on another forum, here, and am mostly getting responses from people who want to argue for the sake of arguing. I think it really is a topic for philosophy but I want to see what the people of science have to say. I am trying to understand the mechanics of the universe through the use of a hypothetical medium, mostly working off of this. I do not mean for this to be a debate about who said what, whether a medium actually exists, and the like. Please stay on topic. This thread should only by about the possible properties of said medium and how those produce the phenomena we observe in nature. The properties so far are: the medium should be continuous…

This is just one of a few things that have just never seemed to be correct. A logical fallacy, if you will. An unexplained discrepancy in accepted science that has just never made sense. I do not wish to question the legitimacy of Pangea, there is overwhelming evidence to support the conclusion that all the current continents were, in fact, once part of one giant landmass connected together. That all seems a forgone conclusion. My issue has always been in the physics of it. For billions of years this planet existed with one single giant landmass, on one side. While this in and of itself does seem to be a bit out of balance, like it's all weighted to one side, that of co…

Evolution: Often thought to be the final theory by the layman, this topic often comes under scrutiny from ill guided creationists and the argument is never settled. I am here to tell you that the argument is over, and has been from the very beginning. Now you have heard this all before granted, but try to reason with this one for a moment, let it sink real deep before surfacing again. When life arrived here on earth it was nothing short of a miracle. Landing with an asteroid in a toxic ocean is an impressive feat if not for the improbability of it all. Ill give you that there are some creatures that could survive it. The tardigrade is one, but that is a multi-cellular…

If all mass in the universe is observed to be moving further away from each other, if this is reversed, the distances in between any two objects will always decrease to zero (not minus), meaning all objects will be adjacent to one another. If all elements reversed their fusion, they would become hydrogen 1 atoms and this would fill the universe. If a hydrogen1 universe was present before the motion of mass(time), once motion started these atoms would start to fuse within stars, fusion would create space. As regions of mass become more dense, collapsing stars become blackholes. As black holes devour the stars around them they create more space in between them. Blackholes …

Transformers use the electromagnetic near field. I haven't tested this, but would like to know if you think QM or QED shows the electromagnetic near field to be quantized. In other words, can a transformer transfer less than one tenth of h*f amount of energy in every exponentially decaying pulse for a given frequency?

Hi guys! This is posted in speculations because... Well, its bigfoot, that should pretty much sum it up. Any way I was wondering if bigfoot would evolve like this if he was real: http://www.nabigfootsearch.com/bigfootdescription.html Now what I'm asking is that someone with more knowledge on evolution then I do would look at the characteristics and decided if bigfoot would actually evolve like that or if that doesn't make sense. Again, we are assuming bigfoot is real. Also I don't think he is I just was wondering about this, if a mod don't like this go ahead and delete it, I honestly don't think this is important. And the traits we are assuming he has are in the link.

It takes 4 dimensions to describe the curvature of 3 dimensional space, (w,x,y,z). Since the curvature of space is equivalent to gravity, w is proportionate to 1/d^2 where d is the distance from a mass. To visualize a straight line affected by the curvature of space we can set y and z to zero and use a line parallel to the x axis and the closest distance to the mass set to one. Next calculate the value of w at points for some values of x and plot w against x. The equation to calculate the points on the line is w = (x^2 +1)^.5. The points calculated are: x d w -5 5.0990 0.0385 -4 4.1231 …

Hi. I keep hearing on the internet that it's actually healthy to masterbate (Is this true?). That it decreases the chances of getting prostate cancer for men. What about for women? What are some negative repurcussions of masterbating (e.g. removing nutrients/essential resources from the body like vitamins + minerals etc.)? Does it really cause erectile dysfunction? Does masterbation lower sexual libido in the long-run? Thanks, Mr Rayon

About the Gravity-time and Gravity-space. =… We speak the word "time" without concrete scientific definition. Therefore our knowledge about "time" is foggy. But if we say "gravity-time" then the fog is disappeared because for us there aren't another "time" expect the "gravity-time". We don't use light- travel- time ( so- called 1 Astronomical Unit) in our daily life. ==.. The same "fog" is with the word "space". For us there isn't another "space" expect the "gravity- space". We don't use another spaces in our daily life. ==.. The conceptions "time" and "space" are property of Gravity. Without gravity there isn't "time", there isn't "space". Gr…

"gravitational spiral wave" put those words into Google search and look at the many images of gravitational waves. Which one gives the best description and why? I'm thinking the two masses orbiting each other for a billion plus years has produced 2 waves that have traveled like 2 spirals if looked at on a plane extending from the orbital plane. Or a sinusoidal line if you look at the effect at a point. What is the shape in the 3D space? http://www.dam.brown.edu/people/sandsted/APMA1940R.php The middle picture is a single spiral wave looked at from a plane and a line but I couldn't find a 3D image that I could relate to. Does anyone have an idea of the desc…
